So recently found out me and my OH are expecting twins early January! Total shock they will be our first.
Just wondered if anyone wanted to share the journey! Would be nice to have someone to chat to along the way! :)

Oh we were writing lists of the pros and cons of all the prams we liked!! So ended up liking that the best. Only thing is even second hand they were coming up at between 500-700 each! Which we can't afford. So I kept looking on the twin Facebook seeing pages and someone put one on for £230! We went at got it an hour later I couldn't believe our luck!! I've felt very stressed the past few days, you go from been on cloud 9 to absolutely bricking it! Don't get me wrong I feel so lucky and bless but it's also very scary isn't it!

Your tenacity paid off - nice one. What a bargain! xx

dangle90 · 05/07/2017 07:19

I know! Let us know what pram you end up going for! Next step.... cot beds! X

That's an amazing bargain dangle!
Chizzle there's a recent thread on this board about prams with lots of suggestions if you want to have a google at what's out there.

Chizzle · 05/07/2017 19:54

Oh cool, thank you! xx

dangle90 · 07/07/2017 17:34

How much weight did/has everyone put on so fat. I'm almost 14 weeks and put on 7lb don't know if that's too much

Chizzle · 08/07/2017 05:49

Hey dangle, didn't want to read and run but I'm afraid I don't know for me! Was overweight before getting pregnant and never been very good at weighing myself (I've always just assessed how fat I look) so have been trusting that the Drs/midwives will let me know if there are issues. I'm eating good meals though so sure the babies are getting what they need. I read with twins from this stage it's supposed to be about 1lb/week (a bit less for first few weeks) so it sounds to me like you're doing pretty well! Don't worry about it too much though - I'm sure your body will tell you if you need more or less xxx

dangle90 · 08/07/2017 11:34

Thanks for getting back to me chizzle. Yeah I suppose your right, but like you I was already a little overweight so just want to make sure I'm putting excessive weight on, although I know everyone's different. I don't feel I've been eating too bad though. Will be having a midwife appt in a few weeks so I'm sure shel tell me if not x

OP posts:
dangle90 · 08/07/2017 11:36

Obviously I meant "I'm not putting excessive weight on" Blush

Hey everyone, I had my '12 week' scan last Friday where they put me at 13+6, so now 14+2, they re diagnosed my twins from the 9+6 scan I had, and say now they are MCDA sharing a placenta instead of DCDA which is a bit more of a worry, but they were both there with beating hearts and that's made me feel a bit better than before anyway :) They were measuring just over a week apart which was also worrying but they said nothing to worry about for now, and I will be having fortnightly scans from now and consultant appointments, so I'm appreciative of the close monitoring! So scary but exciting. Due date now 6th of Jan but think that is hiiiiiighly unlikely lol xx

salsasalsa · 10/07/2017 15:25

Also in regards to the weight question... I'm 5'4 and started at 8 stone, I'm 14+2 and a stone heavier just over 9! Feel horrendous, not even eating that bad but my exercise regime has flown far far out the window! Xx

dangle90 · 11/07/2017 20:24

Glad to hear about your scan salsa! Like you say bit more worrying about the different twins but you will be closely monitored, so try not to worry. So nice listening to there little heartbeats isn't it! I feel like my 20 week scan is so far away! I haven't weighed myself this week, I daren't as I've ballooned

chocolateshortcake · 12/07/2017 01:31

Hi, sorry I keep meaning to update and then forgetting!
My due date is 6th Jan as well salsa but highly doubt it will get beyond Christmas. It's really good that they're going to monitor you so closely now you know they're mcda.
In terms of weight gain I have t weighed myself at all, was weighed at booking in but since then I feel and look like I have lost weight rather than gained it. Certainly don't have a bump or anything Confused with dc1 I was showing by now and felt pregnant but this time I feel nothing at all so am slightly terrified that all is not well. But have had no pain or bleeding so that's keeping me sane.

salsasalsa · 12/07/2017 16:22

Dangle90 I havent heard mines heartbeats yet! Just seen them on the screen, when do you get to hear them? So yours are DCDA does that mean you risk level is normal and you only have a 20 week scan now? I get to go again next Thursday thankfully as I'm going out of my mind... and have a consultant appointment after too. I just keep thinking one isn't going to be okay because there was a 9 day growth difference when they measured Confused I'm driving everyone insane with my worrying. I want so bad to be excited! Telling work Friday as I've just had my last probation review Blush bad timing. Chocolateshortcake I'm definitely round lol and nope I think we will definitely have our babies for christmas!!

moggle · 12/07/2017 16:49

Don't worry about telling work salsa, frame it as you get two babies but they only have to deal with one maternity leave, haha!

I'm in maternity jeans now - had a trip to H&M last night after a very uncomfortable day at work yesterday. But it took me a while of searching through my drawers to find a long enough tshirt to hide the bottom of the belly band!

My 12 week scan is a week tomorrow so will be telling work after that. However it does seem like it has got around the more senior staff already as I had to tell my boss and his boss due to my sickness a couple of weeks ago, and there seems to be a lot of project planning going on at the moment so useful for people to know I won't be around past december.

I picked up the ebay Baby jogger select buggy at the weekend, seems great, just need to get all the various adaptor bits for the car seats. DH told one of his colleagues at work about the twins and she said "oh! I was trying to decide what to do with our baby car seat and base, do you want them?" so we are sorted for that now too, brilliant! Just need to find out which shops near us stock the two buggies I'm looking at for our main buggy (mountain buggy duet and the out n about nipper) so we can go and have a play.

Weight gain I haven't put on much, but that's because I lost about 5lb the couple of weeks I felt so ill. It is starting to creep up now though...

dangle90 · 12/07/2017 19:18

It's hard not to worry salsa. Don't worry about work there not allowed to treat you any differently.
I heard the heartbeat at my private one, at 10 week. Maybe you don't with the NHS scans. They are low risk yes but we still have more scans im sure they said fortnightly after the 20 week scan. I too think mine will be here before Xmas. Well that's what I'm hoping (obviously don't want them too prem though)

salsasalsa · 12/07/2017 19:18

Thank you moggle, you're right! One maternity leave for the price of two! I'm only a bit anxious as I'm literally only just out of my probation period.

I think I'm going to be doing a maternity shop very very soon! Scary, been squeezing in everything other than any denim, no hope.

Going to not weigh myself for the next 6 months now... work on me can start after, loving the food, needing the food! Xx

dangle90 · 12/07/2017 19:19

Glad to hear you got your pram moggle! Didn't it blow your mind looking at it? We had a mini meltdown when we got ours home, so many bits and pieces!

OP posts:
dangle90 · 18/07/2017 19:34

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
moggle · 18/07/2017 20:35

I have the worst wind ever! It's so embarrassing! Doesn't seem to matter how or what I eat it's awful.
Apart from that, ok... ish... DD had a stomach bug end of last week / the weekend which was pretty horrid and I kind of got it too- was lucky not to vom but felt awful. Basically still feeling pants, thought it would be getting better now. 12 week scan on Thursday!

How are you dangle and everyone else? salsa did you tell your boss? Hope it all went ok xxx

salsasalsa · 18/07/2017 20:58

Omg I am dreading getting gassy! Haha especially at work etc. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon, I have felt next to no symptoms other than complete tiredness now. I told work yesterday! They were actually lovely. And have felt like a local celebrity today! Midwife this morning where I heard their heartbeats for the first time which was magical. And counting down the days until Thursdays 16 week scan and consultant appointment to make sure thei growth is okay! So same day for scans! Hope it goes really well for you :) I am actually having a positive moment for once lol.

dangle90 · 19/07/2017 20:30

Sorry to hear
You've been feeling rubbish moggle! And glad to hear work have been nice with you salsa!

All good my end, my sister offered to pay half for a private scan so we could find out the sex early and I caved! So booked it today and go Tuesday dinner time, can't wait!
