Hello!
I can see there are a few of us with double the love (maybe triple for some of you?) to arrive next year so thought would be nice to have our own thread to discuss the journey we are all on?
I am 32, we tried for two years to conceive before it turned out we needed IVF. Amazingly, despite them putting two back because they weren't quite where they should be, they both took... we had our scan on Monday and they were amazing to see! One looked like it was kicking and punching the other! I am now 13 weeks :)

Congrats Snuggly! That's amazing news...We will be looking to you for advice so please jot it all down!!

Was the C section planned?

SnugglySnerd · 13/03/2017 15:08

Thank you! Yes it was a planned section. It was fine. I've been feeling ok but just went for a little walk and I was struggling a bit. Reckon I managed about 100m!
Good luck with your scan, Tuesday.

Awe pleased all went well snuggly
Can't wait to hear more about the little arrivals x
What were the weights in the end?

SnugglySnerd · 14/03/2017 10:46

They were really good weights, 5.9 lb and the other one was just under 7lb.
We're going to attempt to go out today with the twins and DD. Just packed changing bag, goodness you need a lot of stuff for 2 babies! Plus it's just occurred to me I need a change of clothes for DD too incase she wets herself!
Thanks for link to twin blog, off to take a look now...

I'm a mum of one four year old, expecting twins this summer. Hope to breastfeed again. My husband will take 2 weeks paternity leave and my mum can come up for a few days for a couple of weeks. Have a cleaner. Is this going to be enough help? I keep reading about night nurses and getting freaked out that I'm not going to be able to manage. I'm pretty good with not enough sleep, but know this will be different.

MumofthreeandBean · 15/03/2017 06:54

snuggly hope your trip out went ok, it will get easier packing for two (or three)

tuesday that sounds good to me, it will just be me and hubby with 3 older kids, I think the idea is to get yourself into a routine as soon as you can, I've read that getting clothes out the night before and things that you can plan and prepare for are good.
I am dreading the night feeds but I'm planning to syncranise the twins best I can do that I'm not feeding solid all night long

Todayistuesday · 15/03/2017 07:09

Hope it went well, Snuggly.
Thanks, Mum. My mum would help out more if I need it but we don't have much space so it's balancing managing the babies and not getting on top of each other!

Another question: what did your babies sleep in in the living room? Separate Moses baskets? Separate sleepyheads? Thanks!

MumofthreeandBean · 15/03/2017 13:01

We always used our Moses basket when tiny (brought down from upstairs) and then a bouncy chair once they were a little bigger

SnugglySnerd · 15/03/2017 13:21

Yes the trip out was a big success, thank you!
The hospital put them in a cot together so we've carried on with them sleeping together in a Moses basket. They seem to soothe each other. I think it might be difficult the first time we have to separate them when they get too big!

MumofthreeandBean · 15/03/2017 17:15

I plan to put mine together too

Todayistuesday · 15/03/2017 21:58

Good to know, thanks!

MumofthreeandBean · 18/03/2017 11:03

Beginning to realise that I could go into labour soon - I'm 29.5 and told I won't go past 37 weeks, my babies will be here in 7 weeks time!!!!

SnugglySnerd · 18/03/2017 18:35

Exciting! I remember at around the same point the midwife told me off because I hadn't packed a hospital bag yet!

MumofthreeandBean · 18/03/2017 21:53

Neither have I snuggly !!

MummySara · 21/03/2017 15:48

15+1 and feeling very envious of you all! Went on holiday and got a spot of food poisoning called the EPU and they didn't seem concerned....so that should put my mind at ease, but I would have thought that its bad and that I should at least be seen...:S
Brought a Doppler but having anterior placentas makes dopplers useless........gender scan in 8 days that's something to get excited about.

MumofthreeandBean · 21/03/2017 16:51

I was given a Doppler and can't find babies heartbeats even though I know exactly where they are lying 🙄

I have now packed my hospital bags - apart from snacks, magazines and money 😂

My family threw a baby shower last night and it was lovely, got some very cute little outfits and we had yummy cake 🙂

Finally getting up the courage to join this thread. Am 20+5 with MCDA girls. Things are a bit anxious as the last pregnancy ended in mc, and with this one it looks like they might have mild TTTS, so we're off to St Mary's on Friday to hopefully get more comprehensive results. Taking it a week at a time and hoping we get to the end of May, the end of June, or maybe even full term in mid-July before they make good their escape. We already have a DS (3) who has started putting aside "tiny toys for the tiny babies in your tummy". Grin

Lovely to meet you all.

bluebird1235 · 27/03/2017 09:42

Welcome! Your DS sounds adorable!! I hope your scan goes well. They are such a worry.

I had my first growth scan on Friday at 24 weeks and all looking good. 1lb7 and 1lb8 with most of the measurements about at the 50th percentile (except for femurs which are massive!).

Had an awesome trip to a car boat sale at the weekend and picked up a massive amount for clothes for absolutely peanuts. Rather pleased!

I'm finding that I'm starting to slow down quite a lot now. I've been slow at walking/getting up/etc for a while but my normal weekend walk make me sooo tired this week and I found I was falling asleep on the sofa by 7pm! I was a bit like this in the first trimester but was hoping I could keep my energy up a bit longer! Has anyone else found similar? Hoping that maybe I just overdid it a little and am going to bounce back a bit!!

ForTheSakeOfFuck · 27/03/2017 15:24

Oh god the tiredness... Five months ago I ran an actual half-marathon (very proud, it's the only big thing of that nature I've ever achieved, took me aaaaaages to get that fit and get round) and now I can barely walk up the stairs to my office without having a little rest-break between the two floors. I crash out in bed every night at about 7:30pm or 8pm, at which point I'm done. It's a race between me and DS some nights to see who passes out first. In the first few weeks of this pregnancy, which I thought it was just the one, I confidently announced how I'd keep marching/jogging/cycling to work until at least week 30. Ha! What a spanner.

MumofthreeandBean · 28/03/2017 21:13

Welcome x

I'm now 30.1 - struggling physically, been to physio today and my pelvis is tipping forward due to the size and weight of my bump. Not a lot I can do but she taught me some coping strategies and told me to rest more!!

MummySara · 31/03/2017 16:18

@ forthesakeofF, Im registered with St Marys, how have you found them. They have referred me to the team that's specializes in multiples so I will be looked after them going forward.....Im 16+5 now. I completely get you about passing out. Trying to keep up with OH and DS even that is tiring let alone working full time... Good that you are still working a lot of ppl get signed off early due to some form of condition.

@mumof 3bean.,,,I had my scan and carrying two boys...don't know whether to cry or laugh as I already have a DS and were not looking to have anymore!! at the age of 36, I wonder whether I have time to pop another one out, but scared it can be twins or twin boys! Cant go through this again...

I had a bad pelvis condition with my DS, scared I will get I, I have a dull muscle ache in my groin and contractions when I go down the stairs!!! but midwife didn't seem concerned.....Consider yourself lucky you can be 16W like me, you are nearly there.

Have you brought the pushchair and cot yet? what did you go for?

MumofthreeandBean · 01/04/2017 06:44

I have bought a mountain duet buggy with double carrycots. It's great for getting through doorways! I wanted a side by side rather than one baby scraping along the floor.

MumofthreeandBean · 07/04/2017 05:08

32weeks (32.3) Twin clinic and scan.
Babies now both head down 👍🏼
Twin 1 - 4.5lb
Twin 2 - 3.14lb

All good on scan.
I will be induced at 37 weeks if nothing happens before then.
I asked various questions about the delivery, happy with the answers.
Will need epidural in place but I don't have to use it.
I can have an active labour - so long as no problems.
Twin 1 will be passed to dad while I birth Twin 2.
Twin 2 cord will be delayed clamping but she said Twin 1 will have to be pretty speedy so as 2nd doesn't move position.
I asked about babies weights before being allowed home, 2.5kg is what they aim for, so she said allow 24 hrs for checks, feeding etc if all goes to plan naturally🙂

Few other bits discussed but can't remember 😂

The pains I'm having is braxton Hicks and my pelvis, understandable as together babies weigh over 8 lb already.

Feeling positive I will get the birth I want 😊

bluebird1235 · 07/04/2017 09:27

Hi @MumofthreeandBean that sounds really good! I'm very interested that you're going to have the epidural placed but not necessarily use it. I'm 26 weeks now but have been pondering the epidural question. I don't really want one but wouldn't want to risk something happening to twin 2 just because I was too stubborn to have an epidural so perhaps that's the best of both?

I also now have the mountain buggy duet with two carrycots! It's really rather good isn't it! So manoeuvrable!

I also picked up a whole massive box of clothes from a car or sale a couple of weeks ago so now have sooooo many clothes!
