Hello!
I can see there are a few of us with double the love (maybe triple for some of you?) to arrive next year so thought would be nice to have our own thread to discuss the journey we are all on?
I am 32, we tried for two years to conceive before it turned out we needed IVF. Amazingly, despite them putting two back because they weren't quite where they should be, they both took... we had our scan on Monday and they were amazing to see! One looked like it was kicking and punching the other! I am now 13 weeks :)

27 weeks now, rugby match going on in my belly atm 😩😳
Had a 4d scan last week, it was amazing!

Just popping onto the thread to say hi and offer a bit of (completely unasked for!) advice.

Find your local twins and multiples club. The TAMBA website will help you. Speaking to Mums who have been there done that is really helpful.

I really recommend Karen Kerkhoff Gromada's book Mothering Multiples. Especially if you are planning to breastfeed as it has some wonderful advice (and helpful pictures)

My twins are now 9yo. The early days can be very hard but it's worth it!

MumofthreeandBean · 01/03/2017 16:28

Thankyou x
I will look for that book, there are no twin clubs near me but I just met a twin mum when dropping son off at scouts last week, hoping to chat more with her

SnugglySnerd · 01/03/2017 16:32

I keep meaning to join TAMBA and forgetting, thanks for the reminder!

I've only got a few more days to go before the babies arrive - eek! This probably sounds stupid but I'm feeling a bit sad that I only have a few more days with DD on her own.

ScarlettFreestone · 01/03/2017 16:33

Ask your local health visitor, they might be able to put you in touch with other twin Mums in your area.

I've provided tea and cake to four or five ladies pregnant with twins looking for some advice/reassurance. I didn't know any of them before hand but was put in touch by friends and was very happy to help.

ScarlettFreestone · 01/03/2017 16:34

Best wishes Snuggly! Flowers

SnugglySnerd · 01/03/2017 18:33

Thank you!

MumofthreeandBean · 01/03/2017 19:00

snuggly it must be strange knowing when the babies are coming!
Enjoy your last couple of days alone with dd and look forward to hearing about the twins arrival xx

SnugglySnerd · 01/03/2017 19:24

It is very strange! DD was overdue so there was a lot of nervous anticipation, this time I'm just counting down the days!

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 06/03/2017 11:28

I've just had an early scan and found out I'm pregnant with identical (MCMA) twins, about 7 weeks along. I also have a 2yo.

AAARGH. I never really thought this would happen. I'm sort of excited but also overwhelmed and terrified. I know this has been done to death but please could someone hold my hand and tell me I will manage, that it might be good even?

MummySara · 06/03/2017 15:01

Hi Ladies,
is there room for me, sorry for joining so late.....I am 12W tomorrow. I has a 2yr old DS, and before him I had a twin MC at 5/6weeks. I remember the symptoms well! and I blamed myself a lot for the MC for a good while and it took me to really dark place, depressed was an underestimation. I thought I had a cold and took loads of cough medicine and then realised it was more than just a cold!, Falling preg with my son took a lot of that away, but it was still at the back of my mind. It would be safe to So when I fell preg in Jan, I knew that something was not quiet right. I booked an early scan at 9+4w and was told I had 3 sacs but one was not viable....so I am now carrying didi twins. I am now terrified. I am not sure if its the 3rd sac not being viable or all that bad feeling back from the twin mc, or abit of both, but I am a women on the edge. I have a 12 week scan tomorrow and I am preparing myself for the worse. Having the twins would really lift my heart and although I should not say it will right a wrong, but it would allow me the chance to redeem myself by doing the right things.....Wish me luck.

MummySara · 06/03/2017 15:25

HI Mumof3, where did you get this research patient thing done.....I would prob be interested......in doing something like that,,again to put my mind at ease.

MumofthreeandBean · 07/03/2017 20:06

The hospital was doing the research trial - it was called IONA - maybe google to see if your hospital is taking part? It was offered at my 20 week scan

MummySara · 08/03/2017 04:44

Scan went well 2 heart beats. Im measuring 8 days bigger. So am now 13+2 now. I think this scan is what i needed, feel less anxious. NT measured 2.1 and 1.9mm. Scan was not very clear due to position of plancenta. Its to.the front of mu uterus. Guessing i wont feel them move until much later.

MumofthreeandBean · 10/03/2017 03:52

Pleased all was well at scan.

I had my28 week scan yesterday, all good, girl head down measuring 2.6lbs, boy breech measuring 2.15lbs.
Started my injections for blood clots, one a day until babies are 6 weeks old.

Told consultant I'm anxious as my twin was stillborn, he reassured me that the twins are looking excellent and he has no worries.

My gtt was normal 😀 But my platelets are low (28weeks bloods) he's going to recheck at 32 weeks.

Lolly2803 · 10/03/2017 11:07

Hi ladies,
I joined the group a while ago but have just been reading all your news since. Hope everyone is doing ok.
I had my 20 wk scan this week I was 19+4 and am expecting fraternal twins.
While structurally everything looked great and their growth although on the smaller side of normal was still normal. But Twin 1's Femur bone was slightly outside the normal range, measuring a bit small.
They have referred us to the fetal medicine specialist and we are seeing them on Monday.
Of course I am beside myself with worry! Has anyone else had anything like this? I'm attaching twin 1's measurements so you can see and incase anyone else has anything similar or any experience with something like this.
Thanks ladies xxx

Lolly2803 · 10/03/2017 11:14

Measurements!

Expecting multiples 2017!
MumofthreeandBean · 10/03/2017 14:55

I haven't had experience of this as such but my neice and nephew both have a type of dwarfism and their measurements were normal pre birth.

You may find the sonographer didn't have the best view of the femur, resulting in a short measurement.

Good luck, hoping all is explained on Monday xx

MummySara · 10/03/2017 16:04

thanks 3bean!
I am due to have a review to see if I should be on aspirin end of March. Husband has booked a weekend trip to Marrakesh! without consulting me....now I am worried about the flight. its mid 30s.....so should be getting a good dose of vitamin D!

When did you find out about the genders? I booked a private scan but will be 16+2 days and I am just wondering whether that's too early

bluebird1235 · 10/03/2017 16:59

Lolly - not got anything overly useful to say but I had my scan at 19+1 and femur length for twin 2 was 28.5mm and was bang on the mean line so I feel like it's worth remembering how small the margins are. The difference between normal and not normal is so tiny that if baby was in a slightly awkward position they could possibly have measured shorter??

MumofthreeandBean · 10/03/2017 17:12

We were told we couldn't have a gender scan until 16.3 - I think 16.2 is close enough though!

Lolly2803 · 10/03/2017 17:14

That's true Bluebird. And twin 2 was the same as your twin actually and was deemed ok.
The scan took over 2 hours as it seems I have two very active babies!! She struggled to get the measurements as they were so active. Just worrying myself so much.

Hoping they'll be calmer on Monday and the Dr can get a good measurement and it's nothing to worry about. Everything else is normal so fingers crossed.

These things can be so worrying can't they!

MumofthreeandBean · 12/03/2017 09:00

snuggly your bundles must be here now! Hope everything went ok xx

SnugglySnerd · 13/03/2017 07:31

Yes sorry I've been meaning to update. Boy/girl twins arrived by c section last week. They are beautiful.
Section went well and we all came home 2 days later.
Not getting much sleep but we're all doing ok otherwise!

Todayistuesday · 13/03/2017 12:05

Congratulations, Snuggly! I've got my 20 week scan next week - full of scanxiety already!
