Aku... I do hope that you are here to stay. FG will only get upset if you flit in with your question and don't join us. She has a special newbie welcoming ceremony that she does! Try Dr Richard Ferber's book: Solve your child's sleep problems. Sorted my pair in a week.

Now girls... whilst I realise sleeping DTs is of the paramount import (don't worry Aku... the girlies will help you... my DTs are 3 and I feel your pain).... I need to know something of vital importance. This is one of those truly urgent matters..........

Where can I go on holiday, sans DC, where I can get guaranteed hot sun 30th March - 7th April?

Harrogatemum · 16/02/2007 20:12

Mars (whats with the new name BTW??)...Canaries, Morocco, Tunisia.

Or if you want to go further afield, obviously the world is your oyster!!!

dingdongjustforyoufg · 16/02/2007 20:22

hello everyone, thanks for all your kind thoughts this is just a quickie, I'm signing out for a week or so as I'm off to the land that wireless forgot... should have been off to the lakes for a few nights next week but am off to the cotswolds instead to help my parents out a bit as there's my senile grandmother to take care of - the DTs should be in good company

triplets · 16/02/2007 23:37

Miracles in the womb was fascinating! Made me realize what brilliant mums we are to carry it off!! No mean feat thats for sure. It was sooooooooo interesting, watching them belt each other, then the quiter one goes away and puts its head down, still happening here 9 yrs later! Also interested in the bit a mirror twins and the link to left handed people, to think.........there could have been two of me!

Marscentio · 17/02/2007 00:07

It's from Taming of the Shrew. Ask Beety lol!

I can't wait to watch it Triplets. I have it sky + ed and when I have a moment I'm going to sit and enjoy it. DS1 said it was fascinating and really good. He's 14.

zephyrcat · 17/02/2007 09:35

Hello? {sticks head nervously 'round the door)

I've been pointed in this direction by Mars... I've just found out I'm pg with twins! I'm only 5 weeks so early days but need lots of advice. I've got 3 little ones already (5, 2.6 and 10 months) and had a caesarean with each of them, so I'm looking for anyone who has had twins after previous CS so I can weigh up the reality of being able to go ahead with the pregnancy safely

Thank you!!

Marscentio · 17/02/2007 09:47

Hiya Zephyr. Am just out the door. Carrying the twins safely shouldn't be a problem despite you having had caesarean births before.

The girls will be along don't you worry.

I'll just leave a freshly baked LDC and they'll be along lickety spit!

Leoladyofleisure · 17/02/2007 14:09

Congratulations Zephrycat! I had a cs for DS, I am now carrying 5Kg twins (11lb). I've had no problems. When I first saw my consultant this pregnancy I was asked if my uterus had been scanned to see how the scar from the CS had healed up, its important to do it as early as possible if it hasn't already been done so see someone ASAP although the consultant hasn't mentioned or worried about it since then. From what I have read rupture of the scar is very, very rare and other normal pregnancy problems are more likely to occur than that so it shouldn't be a reason not to go ahead with the pregnancy.
I guess it could also be worth talking to the Multiple Births Foundation.

Good luck with the pregnancy! Hope to see you here more often!

Aku, sounds like a nightmare and I don't have any real suggestions except to talk to them about it before and tell them how lucky they are to be moving into their own big beds in aroom with their big sister and make it seem exciting and important! Good luck!

Kelly AF, of course!

I don't often moan about him because most of the time he is great, but WHY can dh not understand that DS needs to be dressed when he gets up in the morning and not run around the house in his pyjamas for hours. Bad insomnia last night so I slept in until 9.30 when I got up ds was like a lion in a cage destroying the house, completely hyper, desparate to go outside but its impossible to do anything with him or get him to do anything. 2 hours and a lot of fighting later he is dressed, outside and happy as anything ! How many times do I have to explain these simple things to DH, i tell him every weekend! He is a great dad but there seems to be a little bit of intuition missing !

tkband3 · 17/02/2007 14:13

How about Marrakesh Mars - it's a wonderful place with lots to see and do, but places you can relax as well. Can highly recommend a small (but not that cheap - we went before children!) hotel if you're interested. Goa's lovely, but waaaaaay to hot for me in April (pushing 40) - but if you like it that hot, you'd be bound to get some good deals and again, could recommend a lovely small hotel (v. cheap) in a quiet part of Goa, with deserted beaches to stroll along.....oooh having a moment of nostalgia. Am v. of you having a holiday sans dc. We've just booked our first holiday since the DTs were born - and we're not just taking the children we're going with my mum and her OH as well .

Zephyr, no experience of carrying twins after caeasarian, but there are stacks of mums on the TAMBA forum who have experience of this. Unfortunately you now have to be a member to post on their message board but you can browse through it - if you'd like me to post a message for you on this I'd be glad to.

Leoladyofleisure · 17/02/2007 14:17

Holiday anywhere sounds lovely Mars! No suggestions of where to go though! I would normally still be trying ot snowboard at that time!

rosmerrin · 18/02/2007 19:13

Very quiet around here - any one about tonight?

Can any one offer any suggestions - DS3 (22 months) has a streaming cold and temperature but gags and throws up everytime I try to give him Calpol or Neurofen. I have tried by spoon and syringe. I have mixed it with yoghurt and pureed fruit and in his milk but he knows it is there after the first mouthful and won't take any more. Any ideas?

Leoladyofleisure · 18/02/2007 21:23

Its been quite here for a couple of days!
Its not very helpful for tonight, but we have suppositories for children here which are great if the child can't take the oral medication. Can you get them in the UK?
Otherwise try to get his temperature down first and then give it to him again, he may be gagging and throwing up because he is unwell.
Goodluck, I hope he is fast asleep by now and you have a good night!

estar · 18/02/2007 23:35

rosmerrin - my kids love Calpol and pretend to be ill when they see their brother getting some, so sorry, no advice I'm afraid!

I survived half term!

Actually had a few wonderfully idyllic moments, like going to my uncle's house in the Lakes for a couple of days and took the boys up a fell for a walk and it was actually....fun! They didn't want to be carried up or down, they didn't fall in sheep's poo then wipe themselves round us, there were no tantrums or anything, they just ran round like little boys having fun, exploring in holes and old shepherd's kilns, and making up stories as they went along. It was one of those perfect moments you dream of having when you imagine having a small gaggle of children in your dream-like pre-child innocent state.

Of course, we had to have an equal moment of total stress and chaos to even it out, which came last night at ten o'clock when we were about to turn in for an early night and discovered dts still wide awake with what WAS six large sheets of polysterene from some packing boxes and was now a coating of tiny snowball-like individual pieces ALL OVER THE ROOM... Spent a good half hour hoovering, stripping bed sheets, moving furniture and shaking out toys, as well as removing one piece from dt2's ear canal. Made them stand in the corner while I did it too - mean ol'mummy

frumpygrumpy · 19/02/2007 13:30

Phew! Did it. Not one to miss out on anything.

zephyrcat, come in, come in. Newbies on this thread get to sit in the leather recliner with the cashmere throw. Then we can all sit around you (Val Doonican style)and interrogate you while you feel uncomfortable in a posh seat That ok? Congratulations and do stay, we are growing day by day. Just like yourself

Love Overrun's story

Kelly and HM, you should be ashamed of yourselves for that cooking. Go and start another thread somewhere far away from nervous cooks like me .

So sorry to hear your news dingdong . I have 2 old grannies and one I am particularly close to and I often wonder how the hell I will keep it together when her time comes. You take care, you'll be busy and probably worn out mentally when you get back xxx.

rosmerrin, how is he today? As leo says, the temp can cause them to vomit it up (my dd has done this before, very soon after taking it, sometimes immediately). Just keep trying at different times with the various methods you talked about. The syringe is a good idea and just a little at a time. Then keep up with 2 hourly alternate doses of nurofen and calpol if the temp is bad to keep it steady. If you can keep the temp under control the vomitting should subside (unless its a tummy bug).

tkb, so sad to hear that news . Seems like an extra kick for it to be a twin, imagine having that other little twin to watch over and know there should be two the same age. My heart breaks for her.

Mars, your name is gorgeous and suits you darling. Belated birthday thick-lipstick kisses to your weans. I will not give you any holiday advice because last years voyage sounded like heaven in a chip bag and I'm still quashing my jealous side .

do they not realise I would have to limit my talk time to 3 minutes a month if I purge my MN secret

frumpygrumpy · 19/02/2007 13:33

come on, come on, rush at me, tell me I was missed and shower me with LDC...........

(I'm calorie counting btw. My thighs are like a She-Warrior from Heman)

frumpygrumpy · 19/02/2007 13:34

Heman? He-Man I think......

frumpygrumpy · 19/02/2007 13:35
rosmerrin · 19/02/2007 14:36

No, dont do it FG. Put your feet up.

We are all ill here today. DH and I have horrible achey colds, DS3 still has his too. Despite the lack of Calpol etc, his temp is okay but he is running around like a little snot volcano - luverly! He has eaten about 4 breadsticks and half a pot of yoghurt in the last 4 days - downing the milk though.

Luckily the DTs seem recovered from their colds so have been packed off to holiday club so the rest of us can cough in peace until 4.30 - joy.

P.S FG I did miss you!

rosmerrin · 19/02/2007 14:40

Okay confession time - since I have been hiding on the computer DS3 has fallen asleep by the stairgate a the bottom of the stairs and is snoring his head off. I was going to try and force feed him more yoghurt before putting him up but I guess thats on hold now - he's got his bunny in his mouth and everything. So sweet (apart from the snot of course).

1becomes3 · 19/02/2007 15:50

I just thought that I would come on here to share a little story told to me by my consultant.

He was saying about a woman who was under his care for each of her PG, the 1st time she fell she had triplets!
The 2nd time she fell she discovered it was DT's but she didn't think she could cope so she didn't go through with it, the 3rd time was DT's again and she didn't think she could cope with that either so she didn't go through with that pg either, but then she felt so bad for terminating 2 lots of DT's the next time she fell she said that no matter what it was she was going to have it, and yes you guessed it, it was another set of TRIPLETS!

Not sure how true that story is but after a first set of triplets I think safe sex may have been something someone should have spoken to her about!?!

zephyrcat · 19/02/2007 17:06

Hello! Thank you for the kind welcome FG! (zeph settles into the leather recliner) I meant to come and post here earlier but the last couple of days, by 3-4pm there's a disney dvd on and I'm fast asleep!

At least now I understand who Paolo is! I may be in this chair for a while y'know - there's an awful lot of multiples reading up to do on who's who!

Harrogatemum · 19/02/2007 20:16

hi zephyrcat and welcome! You should go to the thread called "twins roll call" on the multiples topic, gives a run down on who we all are, our ages, locations, number of kids etc!! As its ssoooooo complicated with all of us on here! You will learn to love us quickly though, we cook a mean dinner (smug grin in direction of FG...only joking my lovely) and enjoy a few drinkies of an evening!!!

FG - have you got a moat round your Scottish castle? Are you going to pull up the drawbridge when we descend on you for the meet up? Pur-lease dont tell me I am going to have to put my armour on and get my jousting stick out, its gathering dust in the garage as we speak!

Anyhoo- am trying to be upbeat as had another shitty meeting at work today, they said the same, go back 4 days and thats that. I held it together until I got to reception where the poor receptionist witnessed me blubbing like a baby....must still be the hormones, can I keep blaming them when Maddy is 18???
