Glad the hols are oganised Kelly, mine are too .

Throck, denial is a good way to go. Block it out, numb the pain, drugs and alcohol, sex and rock n roll, all good . Its the totally knackered bit that does it. Over Christmas I had so much more patience with DP here to share the load and with no school run I wasn't up at 6.30am. Makes such a difference getting more sleep. I love the picture of them wading in holding hands. Vaguely reminds me of Reggie Perrin which I adored, do you remember that or am I ancient?

throckenholt · 11/01/2007 09:55

fg - I remember - I am ancient too (1966 vintage).

sleep is the key - but I never seem to get enough - overslept by 40 minutes today - so not the best start

Leoladyofleisure · 11/01/2007 10:01

Frumpy - is that 30 lengths of a 10m pool or of a 50m pool . Actually I'm really impressed, I usually lose count after about 10 lengths ! Bitchiness because I am would loooooooooove to swim now but I just don't have anything that fits anymore and can't be bothered to go and buy something new, couldn't find a maternity cossie anyway.
Frumpy, when you first start exercising usually you get a bit bigger and heavier first because of the build up of muscle, keep going and you will definitely see the effects.

Have a lunch date today with my lovely husband !

lapinrose · 11/01/2007 13:11

well, we went, we swam, we survived, the gilrs loved it...luckily they have nice big family changing rooms so noone witnessed the debacle unfold in there as we attempted to shower, wash hair, get dressed, keep feet dry, dry hair, go to the loo...must remember that 30 min swim lesson will take me at least 60 mins to actually complete

They are both in a right strop today, must dash before they kill each other

largeginandtonic · 11/01/2007 13:19

Oh the horror...i used to dread swimming lesson day. It was on a tuesday at 4.15, the twins in one pool at opposite ends, dd in another pool completely and ds's x2 being dragged (one in car seat, soooo heavy) between 3 different areas of the pool for 30 mins. It was hot and noisy and slippery and then there was the changing room nightmare afterwards!!! I HATED it, never again, throw them in the deep end i say they will learn soon enough... I did keep it up for 2 years but noooooooo not again.

Have posted a pic of dts

HERE

throckenholt · 11/01/2007 13:24

at least your were at the same time - currently my boys have theirs at 11 and 1 in a Saturday morning - the poolis 1/2 an hour away - no no chance of getting home in between. Have only doneit once so far and am dreading it once the movelty wears off.

tkband3 · 11/01/2007 14:59

Hello all

I decided to change my name for the new year (not that it's particularly inspired!). I haven't been around much lately - DT2 has had tonsillitus and consequently we're all suffering lack of sleep. All 3 girls now have colds, but I'm trying to re-train the DTs to sleep all night in their cots (and not wake up at 5.30).

Have been reading of all your difficulties when putting your DTs into beds (HM and Overrun) - am dreading this myself. DD1 was easy - although she went into a bed at 2 when the DTs needed separate cots (too tight to buy a third cot ), she stayed in her sleeping bags till she was 3, and never got out of bed on her own! I am sure my DTs won't be so easy, so will probably keep them in cots till their heads and feet touch the ends.

Pixi, congratulations on your babies' arrival and well done you on the birth. And Doris, wow what a birth story - how did you remember all that?!

Leo, glad to hear things are going so well for you. Sorry that everyone else is having such a hard time - Kelly, hope your little boy's finger is better soon. Sounds awful. HM, I'm afraid I can't remember when it got easier either, but hope it happens soon for you.

FG, your bedtime routine sounds lovely. I'm going to try that tonight, maybe replacing the balloons with bubbles, just because I always rush them in and out of the bath because I want to start MY part of the day, rather than letting them enjoy it for longer.

Oh and just thought I'd mention...I used a fantastic sleep therapist last year to help with the DTs, when I really thought I couldn't go on. If anyone would like her number, I'd be happy to pass it on (she does phone consultations for anyone not in London). It's not free, but worth it if you're at your wits' end.

Sorry - bit long as usual, must stop, as need to do something nice with DD1 before Dts wake up. Have been on here too long

frumpygrumpy · 11/01/2007 16:43

Leo, its a 25m pool. I swam heaps when pg with dd and would do 60-100 lengths a couple of times a week! I don't go fast, just breaststroke and it isn't pretty .

Is just swimming enough to trim me up? (30 lengths 2-3 times a week?) or do I have to incorporate some gym stuff? I detest the gym with a heated passion. Will I get big hefty swimmers shoulders?

lapinrose · 11/01/2007 19:11

gggggrrrrrrrrr I've had a very trying day with DT1 who is not herself at all, won't eat her meals, has been whinging pretty constantly all day and shouting at anyone who dares cross her I put her to bed at 5.30 despite her protests and she's been asleep ever since, poor thing, nursery must have really taken it out of her this week. I then had some lovely time with DT2 on her own, dancing round the sitting room to Burl Ives Childrens' Classics and snuggling up for stories without any arguments about who wants which story first & so on...a serious case of singleton envy

frumpygrumpy · 11/01/2007 19:35

Your poor DT1 (and you!), I wonder if she's getting something.......hope not, and that a good nights sleep fixes it.

Harrogatemum · 11/01/2007 20:02

FG - I recommend the following exercise:

  1. Open fridge door.
  2. Remove cold white wine.
  3. Pour large glass.
  4. Exercise right arm frequently by lifting glass to lips.
  5. Bear in mind this also exercises your legs as you make frequent trips to the fridge.

I have embarked on this this evening, its working a treat, I feel great!

Harrogatemum · 11/01/2007 20:03

lapin - come down to Harrogate and meet up with me and my DTs - I promise you it will make you feel a lot better about yours!

lapinrose · 11/01/2007 20:22

LOL HM I am currently following your exercise regime very carefully and will be heading to harrogate before long...you have been warned!

Harrogatemum · 11/01/2007 20:49

OOOH goody Lapin, will look forward to it.

I have added another facet to the exercise regime, its a family sized Fruit and Nut bar. As its so heavy, it really works the muscles in your arms. And it also gives your jaws a fairly good going over.

Come and join me everyone, I can be the new Marjorie Dawes!

Kelly1978 · 11/01/2007 20:54

and open and pour...and open and pour.... I think I'm getting it!

hello everyone.

OP posts:
lapinrose · 11/01/2007 20:58

mmm can I substitute the fruit & nut for green & blacks white choc? not so heavy but yummy and v sinful

Overrun · 11/01/2007 21:06

Can I sub red wine for white, if so, open and pour, open and pour.....
Swimming lessons, gosh its a world that I don't yet know about. I was thinking of getting ds1 into swimming lessons as he won't get the chance otherwise. But all your stories.
Just to keep you informed, dt1 is STILL AWAKE, but I went to vist my grandparents with my Dad and drank copious amounts of red wine while I was there, so don't care.

lapinrose · 11/01/2007 21:13

hic

Kelly1978 · 11/01/2007 21:17

you keep going, overun!

now gren n blacks is nice, but has anyone else tried chocolate from the hotel chocolat or whatever it's called. It is chocolate to die for, beats green n blacks hands down. I've got pistatio chocolate, white chocolate with cookies and cream and milk chocolate with biscuits or something in it. They are all calling to me but they are dp's.

OP posts:
Overrun · 11/01/2007 21:19

I lurve Hotel de chocolat, yum yum yum yum, its the best I have ever tasted

lapinrose · 11/01/2007 21:22

oh god no never tried it am not normally a chocoholic, but DH is and has birthday next week so I might treat him(me)

Harrogatemum · 11/01/2007 22:01

My SIL bought me a box of Godiva chocolates for Crimbo. It has THREE layers.

Kelly - I like the rhythm you have going... open and pour......perhaps we could be co-leaders of the WANC movement (Wine ANd Choc)....

largeginandtonic · 11/01/2007 22:08

LOL HM.....i cant join in, boo hoo. Pregnancy sucks at time's like this.

All mine asleep....heee, heeee, even the unruly toilet paddling (and not with wellies on) toddler.

Ive just made a cheesecake.....and have eaten half of it already.. Well if i cant have wine i may as well eat. Just watched ER and it made me blub so cheering myself up.

frumpygrumpy · 12/01/2007 15:45

Hi girls

Loved the exercises, feel so much better already! I guess you have to repeat the next night with the other arm to rectify this problem I'm having, yeah? This is gona sort out the bingo wings pronto. Might try gin tonight though (gin=juniper berries=fruit portion).

Now, please can someone tell me what to do with my split rectus sheath? I'm not impressed with the sheet of exercises the physio gave me after having the DTs (have just today dug it out , just slightly later than intended). Would pizza-eating help? [innocent] Something has to fill the gap.

You mad ol birds, how the hell can I keep you guys a secret???

frumpygrumpy · 12/01/2007 15:47

Overrun, boy you must be feeling very well exercised then . Is it driving you nuts? Was he awake and causing merry hell or just awake and in bed?

ESTAR........we're here, come on in, grab a cushion (we leave the couch for the pg ones)
