Morning girls.

Apparently a sachet of porrige 'exploded' this morning. All over the kitchen. Then I exploded. It was not a pretty sight!

I can understand accidents, but fecking clean it up!! Not leave it to get walked all over the house.

First morning of kids resuming their breakfast duties did NOT go well!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 10/02/2015 09:22

How on earth can you explode porridge? I presume the microwave stuff.

I'm currently teaching Emily independence in making her own drinks. Unfortunately this translated the other day to (being helpful) getting Jennifer a tumbler full of milk. And then wondering why the cup was tipped everywhere. But she did help clean up and hasn't done it since Grin

Dh treated me to some new facey stuff yesterday. We went shopping for kids clothes and stopped off at the Clinique counter. Was lovely. And not as expensive as I thought it might have been. Dh was disappointed I didn't let him buy me makeup as well so I've told him he can do that next time. I love the idea of being able to look after my skin. But I'm 34 nearly and have never 'got' it. Mum used make up but mostly just mascara and eye shadow, lippy when she's going out. But I need that mask to help me be the person I want to be. I envy those who can go without makeup.

Chopstheduck · 10/02/2015 15:59

microwave sachet, yep. Oats everywhere - don't think it even made it to the microwave.

ooh get you with your clinique! Very nice Smile I do love the clinique chubby sticks. dd and I won a makeover with them last year, rather surreal experience, in the back of a taxi being driven to the theatre. We got lovely makeup goody bags to take home though.

I don't wear it all the time, i'd look like a right plonker mountain biking or trail running with a full face of makeup speckled with mud!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 10/02/2015 19:26

I think swimming is the only thing I've never bothered with makeup for. But I do have to pencil my non existent brows in afterwards. Or dash straight home to shower and sort myself.

Having a weird day here today. Mum and sister are very upset. Eldest niece has been an utter cow and started a ball rolling that might not stop any time soon. Shame school can't see her for the manipulative madam she can be. But hopefully this means they'll all get some help which is much needed (optimistic much?)

Hi ladies.........been awol........just dealing with "stuff". My poor brother is still in hospital, he woke y/day morning in a pool of blood, wont go into detail! They transferred him to a diff hospital as they really didnt know what to do next. I txt him today and poor thing has had to have another catheter in, that's what started all this in the first place. They have put a camera inside and done several scans so he is hoping to get some answers tomorrow. I am going over to see him tomorrow and desperately trying to think of something to take him to cheer him up and take his mind off of things. Thomas is driving me mad, he wants to go on another airsofting event on March 1st in some disused shopping mall in Reading, you play in the dark. I am soooo worried he will have an accident it can so easily happen, it will be just 2 weeks before he goes to Harrogate for the start of his very intensive training. Will he listen............no......

Chopstheduck · 11/02/2015 08:39

oh trips, let him! You can come and visit me!! Grin Reading is jsut a stones throw from me!

Surely there is lots of health and safety to ensure that participants aren't injured? I can understand your concerns though, with it being so close to training and he probably should prioritise.

I am sorry to hear your brother is still suffering, sounds very unpleasant. :(

Minisoksmakehardwork · 12/02/2015 09:54

Oh trips! It must be hard but if he's going to be throwing himself into intensive training, although it will be more highly supervised, would airsoft be much worse than that? (Complete ignorance as to what airsoft is).

Hope your brother is on the mend - is he likely to be home for the rugby now?

Chops, hope you're not still cleaning up porridge. I imagine it's like clearing up spilt sugar, crunchy underfoot even when you think you've got it all.

rubes, shabs, hello

Had a dash to drs with Joshy yesterday - dts came home covered in paint so gave tea and plonked them straight in the bath. While I was crying him, he stayed screaming then his ear poured blood and gunk. Looks like he's got s burst eardrum and infection (think its been brewing for quite some time) but gp couldn't actually see as there was so much blood. Antibs and another appt for a weeks time to see how he's doing. Joshy is fine in himself though.

We also have the ophthalmology this afternoon. Not looking forward to trying to get Jennifer to cooperate. She's not had a proper check since she was 8 months as she's refused to play ball. And refuses her glasses too. Joshy on the other hand is quite happy to wear his glasses and fetches them himself now, even though they don't make a huge difference to him At the minute - his eyes are positively wonky so I'm expecting he will get quite a strong prescription today.

triplets · 12/02/2015 11:38

Hi girls........well he is going, I secretly contacted his older friend, guy who is in the RAF and who is taking him, he ha reassured me about a lot of things. My real worry was an injury, which would greatly impede his first 6 weeks as it is seriously tough and physical and he may not have been able to do it. Anyway decision is made. My brother is still in, day 11. He had a massive set back and is in another hospital. I saw him y/day and he is very fed up. They have done, ultra sound and an MRI. They are not will ing to make any decision or comment until his consultant returns from India in 2 weeks time!! Its dreadful. They have also changed yet again his antibiotic cover which has resulted in his liver playing up again. The only good news is that now he is on insulin his blood sugars are slowly coming down, y/day it was 14.5. Dk had a letter from the Parkinson consultant y/day with the result of his blood test and brain scan taken in Nov!! All good news except he is low on iron.........there is apparently a working brain Hmm

triplets · 12/02/2015 22:02

Update on my brother, tonight they have sent him back to the hospital he was originally in because they don`t know what to do for him..........words fail me!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 13/02/2015 08:28

Oh trips! Do they know what is wrong with him (or might Dr Google actually be helpful here).

Ophthalmology didn't go as well as hoped. They'd not actually booked the twins in for an eye test, just a check. So we've still got to wait until the end of April to get new scripts/glasses Hmm

Joshua's eyes are pretty good. They're happy with him as both his eyes are wonky, which means vision is equal and he wears his glasses happily.

Jennifer on the other hand, is much more of a worry. She only has one wandering eye, but they said her vision probably has got much worse since her first eye test - was noted she refused to cooperate for the second one. Her refusal to wear glasses obviously won't help, and she demonstrated it beautifully for me with a full on screaming, flailing tantrum when I tried to get her glasses on her. Have been told not to force it and maybe the prescription is too strong for her, as in she needs it but it's a big jump to get used to. So they've recommended she tries half the strength prescription when they test their eyes with a gradual increase to what it should be. So the sudden change isn't so upsetting.

They also had a student in with us and considering he was a final year student, I was slightly concerned. But mostly amused watching him follow Jen around to try and get her glasses on her. They are also going to try patching her to force her to use her bad eye. I'm guessing they'll be the sticky ones as there's no way she'll keep the soft one on over her glasses like Emily has.

On the plus side, they noted Jennifer's clumsiness and constant falling over. And it could well be down to her vision rather than anything else.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 13/02/2015 18:02

Might have a grumpy dh in a little while. James has gone off happily to football, dh not so much. I know James needs the physical outlet today, especially with it being dh's working weekend and then straight into half term. I'm pretty sure I'll end up murdering someone if it all starts falling apart. I've been avoiding the threat of no football for this very reason. Dh comes in and immediately starts on 'if you don't do x, y, z, there will be no football'. So James complies reasonably well for a change. Has his sweets and then I ask dh 'are you still planning on taking him' Grin evil soks! James dashes to get his shoes and water bottle.

Don't get me wrong, I was thoroughly expecting James to turn round when threatened and say he didn't want to go - he often does if you tell him something will be taken away if he doesn't do whatever it is. And I'm sure dh was deliberately goading James to get confused and say exactly that so dh could then justify not going.

triplets · 13/02/2015 21:52

Blimey Soks what a battle!Well suddenly good news! My brother was transferred to another hospital last night. They have scanned and done bloods all day today and it shows at last he is responding to the antibiotics, also his blood sugars are coming down, his liver function has improved! So they have sent him home, the hospital at home team will be coming out to him every day. His consultant will be back from India in 2 weeks and he will decide if my brother needs further surgery. :)

Minisoksmakehardwork · 14/02/2015 07:45

Bet he's pleased to be home in time
For the rugby Grin

triplets · 14/02/2015 09:19

Yep he certainly is, two weeks with no telly! Happy Valentines girls, love you all Flowers x

Chopstheduck · 14/02/2015 09:44

Happy Valentines Day ladies xxx

Great news, trips! Hope he continues to improve and won't need the surgery.

Today is the first day in what seems like ages where I actually have no chores to do! Wahey!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 15/02/2015 09:47

Morning ladies. Chores are a swear word round here it seems at the moment. So I am instigating a new routine which involves the children choosing their own chores (from a predetermined list) and earning pocket money for completion. We are drowning in a sea of stuff still and it's driving me crazy trying to keep on top of it all.

Everyone is going to have to pitch in. Twins included! (Especially as they are probably the messiest).

triplets · 15/02/2015 22:10

Bubbs we are missing you

Chopstheduck · 16/02/2015 07:56

Soks, check out Go Henry. A friend started me on it, and it is a great motivator for my lot.

www.gohenry.co.uk/

The dts use this, they have 20p base pocket money, plus then a list of jobs to do each week which pay 20p each and then we add extras for any additional jobs they do like cleaning the car. Xmas and birthday money gets deposited in there too. It is brilliant! They can keep track of it all on their own tablets and they have their own debit card to go shopping with. They can also set targets for things they want to save.

I can send you a referral link if you think it would work for ours, and we both get £5 free credit.

bubby64 · 16/02/2015 22:48

hi all, I am still around. Chops, I looked at Go Henry a few weeks ago, but didn't know anyone who used it, good to have a recommendation.
Soks, a list of chores to pick from is a good idea, mind you, when we tried it, my 2 would still both want the same one and fight!
Trips- glad your brother is improving.
I went shopping with DH on Sunday, we walked around supermarket for about 1/2 hr, but I didn't realise how much my back would hurt, so I had to sit and let him finish on his own, felt a right sicknote! Also, boys are on 1/2 term, and M has been invited today for a sleepover, J green with envy, so I supervised him making a choc cake this afternoon, he did a really good job, delicious Grin

Minisoksmakehardwork · 19/02/2015 09:18

Morning. I've got that Monday morning anticipation feeling! James is so confused this week because 'it's a school day mummy!' Bless him. He's trying hard.

triplets · 22/02/2015 08:00

Morning girls, havent been here much a seem to have nothing to say, most unusual for me! Beautiful sunny day but woke up to thick frost! Three weeks today we will be on the train to Harrogate, I have such mixed emotions! Its strange too because at my age I should have experienced my child leaving home years ago..................Matthew would be 36 this year, cant get my head around it all. We are decorating the sitting room, I say we, dh is! I have the ideas and he does the work! Got to be done on a real budget, but just want it updated, fancy a Scandi look! How are you Bubby, keep thinking about you......xxx We all need something exciting to happen, we are getting stale, lets go shopping for a new shag pile!!

triplets · 22/02/2015 08:24

We could go pink?

D'ya ever wonder if you could still do the twist and not actually wet yourself in the process?
Minisoksmakehardwork · 22/02/2015 08:54

My mum has a lovely tub of mustard coloured paint if you fancy freshening up the thread walls? Think the colour of the mustard powder rather than the outside of the tin of colemans and you're there. She was going for a brighter look in the lounge. And painted nearly 2 walls before she decided she really didn't like it. (It was pretty awful tbh, but dsis and I thought she was putting this colour on the chimney breast as a feature, rather than the room's main colour).

She's had to buy a tub of white to paint over it and then bought some that looks like melted ice cream as the main colour.

Twins are being cute at the moment. They were singing together in the car yesterday. And although they are scrapping properly like siblings do, they are also quite affectionate with each other. Joshy flung his arms round me yesterday and declared 'I loves you mummy'

Trips, that must be so bittersweet. But such an adventure now for you both.

HarrogateMum · 22/02/2015 11:32
