A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

Hi Piximon I had a similar scare at just under 34 weeks, T1 growth had slowed dramatically, I was checked up, saw consultant again a week later no change so was due to see him again on the Mon of week 35, to be induced if stilll the same, but went into labour in the early hours of the Sun and had them that pm - not that I want to scare you or anything!!!!!

earlysbird · 03/11/2006 18:30

shjould also have said, try not to panic - there are other reasons I went into labour early, like having moved house 2 weeks before hand...with a DH on crutches at the time - what fun

triplets · 04/11/2006 00:16

Hi Piximon,
Because I was carrying triplets at my great age.................45, by week 29 they scanned me once a week, I knew something was wrong by week 30/31 by the way they were talking. By week 32 they said that they felt baby number three had had enough, there had been scant growth record for two weeks, although they each had their own placenta that baby wasnt getting enough. So they delivered the folowing morning, baby number one, Rebecca, 4lb 3oz, number two, Thomas, 4lb 7oz, and baby number three 2lb 15 oz! I had been given steroid injectons from week 24 to develop their lungs incase of an early delivery, and on the advice of my wonderful mid-wife (who being mad and Irish had introduced me to the Guiness!) made me go to bed everyday from 1-5pm to rest so that I was not burning off anything that they would need. I realize you cant do that with other children running around. When they were born none of them needed any help, James was just put into an incubator to keep warm and after just over three weeks they all came home. They are now almost 9, Rebecca is about half a head shorter than the boys, but all weigh roughly the same, 3stone 6 pounds, lightweights but strong and healthy. Hope this helps you not to worry!

triplets · 04/11/2006 00:18

Me again, did they not estimate the babies weight and tell you?

FarMARSWarrick · 04/11/2006 21:27

Hiya Pixi... fret not my angel. Just relax where you can (with those two cuties that you have at home) and let us know what the consultant says. You can call me at any time you know (though I am about to go out the door to salsa lol). I've got the mobi with me, so if you need me, call me. I'll find a quiet spot and chat!

Hiya triplets! Recovered from your hols?

Fg... how's the pox?

harrogatemum · 05/11/2006 08:48

Doris hasnt been on since she had her boys has she? Anyone seen her lurking friend? Must be a fortnight now....hope you are doing well Doris if you are out there!

harrogatemum · 05/11/2006 10:29

Whilst I'm here - I need some advice from those with older twins.

DT1 is starting to exhibit some strange behaviour - getting incredibly frustrated if for instance he cant put a piece of Lego on another piece of Lego and then throwing it across the room and having a big paddy. If his brother tries to take something off him he bites the object and his whole head shakes and he grips on to the object for dear life. Its a bit disconcerting so I guess I'm asking - is this normal as they are about to turn 2 on 13th Nov - or is it something sinister? Sorry if you are all about to laugh at me and say its just toddlers!!

FarMARSWarrick · 05/11/2006 13:51

It's becoming 2. They become more aware of themselves and what's going around them. They also start to realise that there are things that they can't do and because they can't articulate their frustration they throw things etc.

Wait till they are throwing things at each other!

harrogatemum · 05/11/2006 14:26

hmmmm I thought so. Just wanted reassurance that DT1 isnt a psycho!

Must be something afoot baby-wise - I have just cleaned my oven for the first time erm, EVER!

frumpygrumpy · 05/11/2006 14:48

HM, your life is my life and its totally toddlers! Mine turned 2 in July and sometime after that they started getting really, really frustrated and hitting each other and stealing toys off each other. They are also very sweet to each other but, for now, its a challenging time and its hard to leave them playing when you are trying to get anything done. My DD was a sweet 2yr old and I suppose it was because there was no one else to provoke her (now she's joining in the fighting as the DTs are out to p her off as well ). Normal, normal.

Pixi, sorry its tough atm and that you had to go through it alone. I remember reading that sometimes the twin that has the most issues in the womb can be the stronger one - that one has done the most pushing and fighting and everything (heart, lungs etc) gets well oiled!! Keep posting x.

Pox is much, much better Mars (please eplain to me your name as I am a post-pox thicko ). DT1 is scabby but happier. DT2 and DD as yet showing no signs [not sure whether to be happy or sad emoticon].

FarMARSWarrick · 05/11/2006 15:15

"Farmer" Warrick was one of the Gunpowder Plot conspirators.

When I was studying Macbeth (I may have mentioned in passing that I was studying Shakespeare) I had to pay particular attention to the Porter's scene. This is just after the murder of Duncan by Macbeth. He (the Porter) talks about equivocation... permission to lie under oath to protect yourself and the Catholic faith!

Was that TMI? lol I bet you would've preferred me to stop at... was one of the conspirators wouldn't you?

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 05/11/2006 16:13

Hello everyone, wondered if i could join you all? Im fairly new to mumsnet, im on the May antenatal thread. I have dts- identical aged 8, dd age 6, ds age 4 and ds age 21 mths and am due #6 in May.

My dts are little monsters at the moment and keep winding everyone up by pretending to be each other, especially in school. Im not very good at telling them off for it though, mostly i laugh Am i making a rod for my own back or should i just let them do it? I can tell them apart so it doesnt bother me in the least bit!

harrogatemum · 05/11/2006 16:35

hi largewhizzingrocketandtonic and welcome!! Wow you have a big family - you will overtake Mars and her 5 when you have no.6!!

throckenholt · 05/11/2006 17:49

largewhizzingrocketandtonic - wow - that is some challenging family - I take my hat off to you (or I would if I was wearing one .

Some stupid person asked me the other day if I could tell my id twins apart (they are nearly 4) - I managed to refrain from the anser it deserved . Mine aren't at school yet - but they do regularly confuse the playgroup staff (they have to notice what clothes they are wearing when they put their namees in teh box at the beginning otherwise they don't stand a chance !).

Twins are great - but id twins have that extra something

Dorisslurkingfriend · 05/11/2006 20:31

Hi all,

Have had one brief text from Doris saying all ok, but that she's a bit tired and has sore nipples. She says she will get on here at some point!

I'm hoping to see her when I'm down in Devon next month, and my mum may get to see her sooner, so if I get any more news before she reappears on here, I'll let you know.

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 06/11/2006 08:26

Thank you for the welcome, it will be lovely to chat to people who know what its like to have twins!

Am about to dash of to the school run in a mo, 4 lunchboxes lined up and ready to go Then im off to asda they have some great half price toys at the moment. Definately worth a look 4 xmas!

Kelly1978 · 06/11/2006 08:49

hi largewizzingrocketand tonic, welcome to mumsnet.

hm, mine are only 19 mnths so far and a bit younger but ravi is well into the terrible twos already. He has already been sent to the naughty corner twice this morning because of his temper. When he can't get his way or do something he nips, bites, slaps, throws things, pulls things out that he shouldn't have. He really is a psycho atm, he gets such an evil look on his face when he is angry. Akshay has tried to copy him but he doesn't really have the temper so it's quite funny watching him half heartedly trying to throw a paddy.

Mine are all home today. ds1 has been throwing up since yest lunchtime, not well at all. He's not even keeping much water down. So I'm stuck in the house all day, aaargh! shay is already ripping the skirting off, and rav has attacked the magazine rack.

fg, the clothes arrived fri, sorry I haven't let you know before it's been a really busy weekend. They are lovely thank you. Rav wore the thick fleecey jumper to playgroup and got so many compliments!

harrogatemum · 06/11/2006 09:37

phew at least its not just mine then....I knew it wasnt really but it is worrying. DT1 has just had a paddy becuase I turned Beebies off to try and engage them in some Maisy the Mouse jigsaws....I am a bit worried that they are TV addicts at such a tender age. I have turned into one of those mothers that just dumps her kids in front of the telly - AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

On Friday we made fairy cakes and DT2 fell off a stool and has got a fat lip - feels like I cant do anything right at the moment! DH about to go off to London again until Thursday and then I may be in hosp getting induced - heeeelllllpppppp!

Kelly1978 · 06/11/2006 09:44

good luck with being induced, though fibgers crossed you won't need it and baby will decide to make an appearence before then!

I wish I could dump mine in front of the tv, even jsut for 5 mins! And at least you made fairy cakes with yours, def good mother! I put mine to bed early on fri and shay jumped out headfirst and has a huge graze on his nose and upper lip, poor boy looks a mess.

HM: if he needs dinner he knows the number.

Welcome largewhizzblahblah....... Post when you can and tell us what 8yo DTs are like. So glad the burden of being the biggest family (on this thread) is being lifted. I can stretch and relax now lol!

Kelly: my wee beasties don't have playgroup this morning. OFSTED/local government whatever have decreed that the playgroup staff need a day for planning. Why? They have everything planned already. So there's me... totally forgetting the letter that Ann put in my hand on Friday (as I'd lost the last one) telling me it wasn't on and so who drags her DTs to playgroup this morning? So, like HM they are in front of CBeebies. Actually Go Diego Go on Nick Jnr lol.

Where's that Tracykb gone? Is she lurking again? Tsk Tsk!!!!

Hi Dorislurkingfriend. Tell Doris we know all about the tired lol! Bless her. Please send her warmest love and kisses.

FG: How's the pox?

Triplets.... are you still sleeping off your hols?

Throckenholt.. how goes it? People are daft aren't they? I'm constantly being asked if my g/b DTs are identical. Now I just say yes! lol

Piximon: how you holding up today?

Hiya Earlybird!

So anyone want to come take my DTs off my hands. I had such a lovely morning of study planned. Now it's endless drinks, Peppa Pig and lots of toilet trips! Sigh................

Kelly1978 · 06/11/2006 10:56

I have three children lined up on the sofa watching fireman sam! Success It only took three trips to the naughty corner to stop dt2 turning it off. dd wants nick junior on but has been outvoted. Poor dd!

I did that same thing mars, turned up with ds on what I thought was the last day of half term. I felt so bad because ds was all excited!

earlysbird · 06/11/2006 11:17

Mine are at playgroup at the mo, have I used my peace and quiet time efficiently and done the ironing, washing, hoovering etc? have I heck... I can guarantee that their first words when I go for them in half an hour will be 'what's for lunch?' probably followed by 'can we watch cbeebies for a little bit pleeeeeease mummy?' and of course I'll let them so I can get on with doing everything I didn't do whilst they were at PG - hey ho

MarsLady · 06/11/2006 11:26

Well I'm trying to find out if they can go to playgroup this afternoon instead! I need my peace and quiet to MN.... I mean study!

harrogatemum · 06/11/2006 11:59

I put the DTs down for a nap at 11 - but they spent the whole time jumping up and down in their cots and screaming so got them up again - AAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH need some quiet time!!

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 06/11/2006 12:22

Ohmigod, have just read the last couple of hours on here and am PMSL, my sides hurt now. This brings back soooo many memories of when my dts were little. They were awful and i didnt know anyone else with twins so thought it was just mine!

The day after i had dd (the twins were 20mths), exp left them alone for 10 mins while he came upstairs to see me and dd (we were hiding in bed) when he got back down the stairs the dt had broken in to the fridge and were eating yoghurts out of the pots with their toothbrushes. Exp thought it was funny, took photos and came up to tell me, when i asked him where they were then he said oh i left them too it. I said oh dear and as he legged it down the stairs it was too late, the milk had come out of the fridge, all 3 pints of it, and had been poured everywhere! Not so funny noises floated up the stairs to me....

I have so many awful stories like that i really thought i must have had the worst dt in the world, im so relieved, i wish i had mn then!

They are lovely now though, hours of entertainment as they wind others up
