A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

should have read dt2 doesnt do toys. He is incredibly active, only likes runnign around like a maniac or destroying things. He is long a dog, needs loooong walks to wear him out then I sometimes get soem peace. He walked around asda today putting things int he trolley to keep him entertained, but is still full of life and refusing to nap!

throckenholt · 30/10/2006 14:03

um - well one of my twins had no favourites as well - so it didn't work with him. But for the other - I guess Tigy was the equivalent of his blanket - I only did it for seriuos things - and only for a short while - but it did work - sort of jolted him into realising something was not allowed.

Never easy - you just have to go with what works for a given combination of child and situation.

throckenholt · 30/10/2006 14:04

sounds like my 3 - they get like that when they are overtired - the more tired the more physical and manic they get.

leoghostlygaela · 31/10/2006 12:56

1becomes3 - I know what you mean about the negative comments, I just deal with it by having a big happy smile! And do my best to feel very special ! I'm lucky I have a sil and aunt who are absolutely thrilled and my mother (although i would prefer a little more realistic understanding and support from her). I'm also lining up support and help for after they are born. DS is absolutely wonderful at the moment as well which helps a lot. Get as much rest as you can, it helps! I'm now feeling great about having twins... today I am so happy that I am having twins that I'm going to do a separate post about it!

Kelly, I am so impressed with Shay and his athletic abilities! Wow! And great picture, he looks very lovely, so angelic it seems hard to imagine... naaah... my ds also looks angelic!
No suggestions to help really, I find it helps to have ds in nursery 3 days a week, it definitely tires him out, but also find it easier when he has friend over, but hmmm, wouldn't quite help the problem with twins would it!

leoghostlygaela · 31/10/2006 13:10

So, now why I am sooooooooooooooooooooo happy today!
Went to the hospital for my first appointment and 20-ish week scan! THe doctor seems to be fantastic, knows what she is doing and I feel that I have confidence in her and feel that I am in very good hands ! The best is that they have really good scanning equipment, wow, I didn't realise how much you can see - and she found a very faint membrane so the twins are DA not MA (although only one placenta)!!!!!! This has reduced the risk a huge, huge amount and I feel as if a massive weight has been lifted off me. I cried through the whole of the rest of the appointment (those hormones!!!)! We discussed - briefly - the birth and she fully supports a normal birth !
Feel a bit of a wimp, but she didn't bat an eyelid when I told her I wasn't coping with working a full day - my belly just gets too uncomfortable when I have no chance to lay down during the day and I end up spending most of the afternoon, evening and night in a lot of pain - and wrote me off 50% of my 60% so I'm now going to work three half days !

If the twins were MA there was something like a 50% chance of survival which is pretty grim to think about, so today I feel extremely happy and very, very, blessed (in a non-religious kind of way) that I well on teh way to being a twin mum !

harrogatemum · 31/10/2006 13:14

awwww leo thats great news - pleased you are feeling so happy!!

JuA · 31/10/2006 13:34

Leo - that is great news - my two were DA with just a thin membrane separating them and one placenta, they are now 9 months old and terrorising their big sister!

throckenholt · 31/10/2006 13:40

Leo - I am SO pleased for you - that is one huge relief - you must feel like you are walking on air .

And having confidence in the medical staff it brilliant - it means you can just relax and concentrate on growing those babies.

MarsLady · 31/10/2006 13:48

Oh Leo... you don't know quite how much joy you're brought to my day.

Now we all just have to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy with you

Glad you got written off work. You're not a wimp, carrying twins is much harder than carrying singletons.

leoghostlygaela · 31/10/2006 15:30

Thank you all ! Oh no, you've started me up again, how embarrassing.... I'm sitting at my desk crying!!!!

frumpystumpy · 31/10/2006 17:45

Lovely news

KellyKrueger1978 · 31/10/2006 18:44

leogaela, that is great!
Really pleased for you, now you cna put your feet up and relax.

leoghostlygaela · 01/11/2006 08:32

Definitely will do Kelly ! I'm planning to go and float around in the swimming pool for a bit this afternoon before I go home, that's the same as putting my feet up isn't it!

piximon · 01/11/2006 11:16

Leo that's wonderful news!!!

Mars it was fab to meet you! DH says just let him know when you want your pc sorted and he'll be round.

In fact my excitement on meeting you was only eclipsed by Wicked! It was fantastic. Unfortunately will be first and last time dh organises anything. Got to Leicester Sq and collected tickets, just about to grab a quick snack, whereby I noticed show was actually on in Victoria Apollo not one on Shaftesbury Ave, so mad dash on the underground and got there just in time.

I'm finding the tiredness is getting ridiculous. Keep trying to get a daytime nap when I can but otherwise it's off to bed before 9.

KellyKrueger1978 · 01/11/2006 11:19

Oh I remember that tiredness piximom! I couldn't have naps because I already had dd and ds1, so I was in bed really early most of the time too. Sometimes I used to have a sleep when dp came home then get up for a few hours later so I had time with him. Not long to go now though!

frumpygrumpy · 01/11/2006 13:45

SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT

DT1 is covered in chicken pox!!!!!!!!

Bum, tits and jaggy poos

SAVE ME, SAVE ME, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES......

throckenholt · 01/11/2006 13:53

ooh - hmm - look on the bright side - best to get it over when they are young (does that help at all ? ).

Where did he get it from ? is DT2 likely to have it too ? Otherwise you can expect to wait a week or two and go through it all again with DT2.

Piriton - seems to help.

harrogatemum · 01/11/2006 14:46

Afternoon all - just got back from hospital........no baby, but another night in the labour ward in agony! I am so sick of this pregnancy now, I just want it to be over and done with!! Went to my Mums last night feeling some general all over the bump pains and an hour later could not stand up straight or get off all fours. She had to get a neighbour to look after the DTs and take me into hospital - where they pronounced that yes I was contracting but not in labour.........GREAT! All that pain (and it was painful) for nothing - they had to give me pethidine in the end as I was screaming so much.

I am quite surprised that they have let me out actually without actually finding out what is making me contract like this - just the same as 4 weeks ago when I went in and they couldnt work out what it was........any medical geniuses out there who can come up with a diagnosis? One of the midwives said maybe it was a kidney stone and this morning the doctors muttered somethign about fibroids, but they havent done any further investigating!

Enough of my whinging - feel sorry for DH - dragged him back from London late last night under false pretences - thought I was going to be having a baby, but no such luck!

frumpygrumpy · 01/11/2006 16:39

HM sorry to hear that, what a night! How many weeks to go? How can they be sure you're not gearing up for the real thing?

None of mine have had chicken pox so yeah, it looks like I'm in for a long haul. And after DD's horrendous illness last Christmas I'm very worried about her potential reaction to it .

1becomes3 · 01/11/2006 17:04

I am feeling much better today about having twins, had my app with the consultant this afternoon.
It was fantastic infact.
I am having a c-section because I had to have one with DD, and because of the HORRIBLE birthing experience I had with her I was dreading going through anything like that again.
Also I like my consultant it's always nice to have someone who makes you laugh.

Our hospital doesn't tell the sex a babies but I thought I would ask just incase and..............................................
There is a blue and a pink in there! YEA!
I know it's not 100% as I'm only 15 weeks but as the consultant put it "that one has a Dick and that one has a hamburger"
he said at my 26 week appointment he will tell me 100%!!!!!!

harrogatemum · 01/11/2006 18:06

FG - I have 3 more weeks to go officially - but just want it to be over now! I've had a much worse pregnancy than I did with the DTs and it has put me off any more (as if I needed too much persuading!).

1becomes3 - great news about the sexes - never heard it called a hamburger before!

frumpygrumpy · 01/11/2006 18:12

lmao at hamburger

frumpygrumpy · 01/11/2006 18:13

I opened the bar tonight and I'm serving.....do join us....

harrogatemum · 01/11/2006 18:13

over in a sec!
