A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

Do you ever look at toy catalogues at the clean, happy, smiling children, wearing cataglogue ironed clothes whose games are set up beautifully and don't have any bits missing or broken and there are never, ever fighting children in the background with blood dripping down their faces .....

They also live in a world where they don't have belly laughs or mad kisses on the face or dancing to the Scissor Sisters too loudly or pile ups in the bed just after bath time and mums certainly never get IN the bath with them!

I hate the mess but I love when they're all laughing together. Mine also make more mess when they are bored. I have a mad tidy up and get out something new. Last night we put a duvet on the floor and dd convinced the DTs it was snow. They had hats and gloves on (with just nappies) and had a ball. The tidy up was much easier too.

Stay strong Kelly, you're in a down place and everything seems worse when its like that. It will come up again xxx.

I met the gorgeous Piximon today. My but she carries twins well! Such a fab bump. Met MrPiximon as well. He's going to come and fix my poor laptop that is overful lol. Actually, he's going to transfer all my stuff to the new PC that we should be getting.

Anyhoo.... really looking forward to her birth. But we do have to stop scaring her on this thread. We need a LOOK AWAY NOW emoticon so that she knows to turn her head until the post is done. lol

Am lounging at LGJ's. Taking up the whole couch, using her wireless laptop, drinking her fizz, about to eat her DH's fab cooking... (only reason I come) and getting her to fetch me chocolate. Do you think that's rude? lol

Don't worry HD, he's not a patch on you... but I can't say that out loud as I'm in his house lol.

Love to you all.

harrogatemum · 28/10/2006 19:50

oooh are you going to be her doula - how fab!?

HD is pleased he is still in favour - he is lounging on the sofa drinking his own form of fizz (Grolsch) whilst I, heavily pregnant slave over a hot stove cooking him fried halloumi followed by roast lamb and greek salad. Yum.

Just remembered clocks change tonight - does this mean I should keep DTs up a bit later?

MarsLady · 28/10/2006 19:57

Tell HD that he should be slaving over the hot stove for you!

lol.... Tell him we're expecting him back when the baby is born! Have you given him the lemon drizzle recipe and made him bake it for you? If not, why not?

Big kiss HD (I'm wearing the turquoise again!)

Ha!
I see I got a mention whilst away in sunny Florida! Well here I am, back in Blighty! Fab holiday even with three kids and moaning husband, who insisted we get to the airport early, like 5 hours before, which in the end was just as well, as as we were taking our cases out of the hire car, he realizes he has left his rucksack on the bed at the villa, complete with tickets, passports, last of our $`s! Kids panic and cry, I had visions of spending the night at the Hyatt and flying back the next day, no problem! I lost my new digi camera, Thomas threw a real paddy in the Magic Kingdom, he has queued with Rebecca for 25 mins to ride Dumbo, she was desperate to go on it, got to the gate then he changed his mind, so she came running bak in tears, little sod he is! So I lost it, put all my stuff down to cuddle Rebecca, and that was the last I saw of my camera! Still it was great fun, we even got picked to poin the parade at MGM! And not once did anyone think we were the grandparents!

triplets · 29/10/2006 01:30

Apologies for spelling mistakes, lack of sleep and Guiness, couldn`t find it in Walmart!

harrogatemum · 29/10/2006 11:52

Not yet made the cake - think I might do it whilst he is away this week and just leave a tin with a few crumbs in it on the side for when he returns!

Triplets - glad you had a good holiday! I am excited because I have booked one for May in Majorca - a villa with my parents, my bro and SIL, the DTs and baby yet to be born and my FIL. That should be entertaining! Only thing is that I was trying to do it on the cheap and the flights will be £800 for my family! Apparently on the cheapie airlines child seats are the same as adult ones - BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Got a very exciting week of maternity leave planned out this week - Monday - National Railway Museum in York with the DTs and my Mum, Tuesday, some homeware shopping in York (is this the start of nesting?), Wednesday - haircut and colour and Thursday - manicure and pedicure followed by antenatal! Ahhhh the joys of time off - thoroughly enjoying it so far!

triplets · 29/10/2006 14:42

Hi Harrogatemum,
Out of interest where are you staying in Majorca? We love the island, we used to own an apartment in Puerto Pollensa, might go back next year, probably been at least 12 times!

leoghostlygaela · 29/10/2006 20:26

Kelly, my DS is about a month older than your DTs, i understand how the destruction happens, but how the hell they vault the baby gate I can't imagine ! I haven't managed to keep up with your other threads but hope things get better and you get the break you need and deserve soon.

Triplets, great to hear you had a good holiday. about the camera!

My sister, husband and ds live half their time in Mallorca, they have a place in Bendinat in the south not that far from Palma. I also like it there. We are planning to go in September, hoping that lots of the family will come out so we have some babysitters !

I thought they weren't changing the clocks in the UK anymore?????

1becomes3 · 29/10/2006 21:43

Had a bloody horrible weekend visiting dss1 and ss2. (notice no "d" infront of ss2)
I am sure it is just the hormones going bonkers but I am finding it really hard to feel happy about having twins, for one thing there is ss2 who is a 16year old horror! enough said.
And the worst thing is while I have been really excited about the twins, there seems to be a distinct lack of "CONGRATULATIONS" and more ("""GASP""") "OH GOD THATS GOING TO BE HARD WORK."

"Do you know what its funny because YES that had crossed my mind but rather than dreading their arrival I would like to try and feel happy, and somewhat blessed that this has happened to me!"
It's is just so hard to stay possitive when everyone else around you is being so negative

LADIES I NEED SOME FEEL GOOD VIBES.
tell me some positives so I can shove them back in their faces when they are tring to bring me down.

1becomes3 · 29/10/2006 21:45

(Just read that message back and noticed all the different emotions I used. Must be the hormones!)

harrogatemum · 30/10/2006 08:55

1becomes3 - you will love it!! Its like a rollercoaster but the highs far outweigh the lows. Yes sometimes one is having a paddy (my DT1 doesnt like getting Weetabix down his front when eating his breakfast and screams about it on a daily basis), and they snatch things from each other - but its hilarious watching or listening to them when they are playing nicely together and they are just sooo cute! Remember that they will always have a ready made playmate as well so there is always lots of fun, even if it is sometimes hard work!

And we are always here for advice and a friendly ear!

throckenholt · 30/10/2006 09:16

you have to learn to ignore the comments - they are usually born of ignorance and fear of how they would cope. All you can do is serenely ignore them - knowing you are going to cope fine - and hence are superior to them .

Twins are a real priviledge - hard work at times - but well worth it.

earlysbird · 30/10/2006 10:21

Totally agree, it is wonderful having twins and I can't imagine how dull life would be without them! When they play together it is just lovely to listen to & very sweet to hear them using phrases they've picked up from you. As my (childless by choice) sister pointed out when she came to the beach with me once 'its quite good having twins really isn't it cos if you didn't you'd have to entertain them yourself wouldn't you?'

MarsLady · 30/10/2006 10:28

1becomes3.... they do it all the time. It is wearing but try not to let it pull you down. They don't appreciate the double blessing that you have. We do! We've lived through (and continue to live through) those horrid negative comments from people.

Twins are an amazing blessing and it is a real privilege to have them! It's a special thing to carry more than one baby inside

frumpystumpy · 30/10/2006 13:39

I did it. Couldn't resist a damn halloween name at the last minute. Now I can only have it til bedtime tomorrow and then must remember to switch my stumps.....

KellyKrueger1978 · 30/10/2006 13:47

we had the behavourist visit today, sent by the hv to hopefully give some tips on dealign witht he dts. She was very nice, but she basically reiterated supernnanny's techniques.
Meanwhile shay, determined to get the attention, climbed up on the dining table, ran the length of it, jumped over to the back of the sofa, then somersaulted down it to land on the floor on his feet - all in one fluid movement! I was so impressed, my baby is gonna be an athelete.
dt1 is in a grumpy mood today, spent a shopping trip round asda fending off slaps and bites from him. Charmign child! I shouldnt be here really. The boys have destroyed their toy box, so I have a cupboard to sort out, and then I need to make my self a nice neon, flashing badge that says 'NO, I am not a childminder. They are all MINE!'

frumpystumpy · 30/10/2006 13:53

Aw Kelly, the circus that is my life flashed before me there . Wow, he is some athlete.

I love your badge, might join the craft threads and make one too! Mine would say "Yes they are twins, think I'm crazy enough to bring someone elses argumentative, tantruming 2yr old with me as well? Now, stuff a couple of organic celery sticks in your ears, its gonna get noisy in here!"

KellyKrueger1978 · 30/10/2006 13:55

or possibly a ballerine, look here

Love your halloween name!

throckenholt · 30/10/2006 13:56

Kelly - have you tried temporarily removing a favourite toy ? At about that age it was about the only thing mine understood. So Tigy used to go on a high shelf for a while - where he could see him but not get him. It was something tangible he could understand.

KellyKrueger1978 · 30/10/2006 13:57

dt2 doesnt do favourite toys, dt1 loves his blankie, but it is his comforter, seems a bit cruel to take taht away?

frumpystumpy · 30/10/2006 14:00

OMG that photo is fantastic! He is a handsome boy!! Totally forgot about emailing you so you can send me your address for the tops, will do it now....
