Morning. Glad the beer fest and zoo were big hits.

Fingers crossed trips for escaping (today?) to the iow.

I'm awake and pissed off already as dh's alarm went off at 6, waking me and the twins. He's still snoring and I'm dealing with 2 grumpy twins. Am hoping I perk up soon as it is so not going to be a good day if I don't.

Morning sok, I know how that feels especially DH forgets to turn it off on a weekend and it goes off at 5am. Hope your day improves! :)

Ruby We take them now and again, if we took them more often it wouldn't be as special - well that's my excuse! Lol

My dts are waterbabies, you can take them if you like, bubby! Lol

What another lovely day. DH and I are planning to take the kids for a pub lunch then heading a for a lovely walk.

We live just over half an hour away by car, but we hate using the car and rarely use it. We'd rather walk everywhere.

Oh, crap! How have not realised that DS is off for a week?! I think I still have baby brain. Thank God DH mentioned it or I would have took him to school tomorrow!... Now to find where I put his term sheet....

Sokmonsta · 28/05/2013 09:11

Morning.

My biggest girl turns 5 today. And enjoying a lovely holiday with nanny, grandad and 2 cousins. I rang earlier so we could sing happy birthday. It's weird not having her at home but she is having a brilliant time.

I'm still not impressed with dh but for other reasons. I'm trying to budget better but he keeps buying things on eBay and I'm paying for them as Both eBay and PayPal account are in my name. It's fine and normally it wouldn't be a problem, but we're so close to the end of the month and its been an expensive one too with new tyres for my car and two birthdays. Plus I need to mot and tax my car. I'm supposed to be going to a friends today. It's a bloody good job I did the carboot as it put fuel in my car.

I'm going to have to sit him down and have a chat, tell him he can't keep buying me new clothes because he thinks I'll like them (true, I do. But then I feel obliged to pay for his other stuff). We're generally very sharing but I'm conscious that we're just entering the realms of me being a sahm and not having that wage coming in so I don't want him to end up resenting spending on me and not having money for him.

I'm interested in trying a 'no spend' month, where essentially ill pay for bills and groceries but avoid buying anything else. Even if I can manage a week I will be happy!

Happy Birthday Soklet - have a lovely birthday xx

I spent the entire day yesterday at two different local hospitals with my Mum.....they thought she had had a stroke even though I kept telling them she was drunk Hmm she ended up discharging herself after waiting for 5 yes 5 fookin' hours for a bed!!!!

My SIL and Brother are divorcing after 30 years of marriage. SIL had the fab idea on Saturday of going down to tell my parents....Mum has been crying ever since...I WILL hunt down my SIL and I cannot promise that I will keep my temper!!

Happy birthday soklet! x

sok We're in a no spending month; well supposed to be. DH went to a carboot on Sunday Morning and came back with a Micralite supa and a combi twin pushchair. Thank God they were cheap or I would have kicked his ass.

We had to sell loads of stuff to afford the Donkey and then we just bought a new bed for DS1 so money is tight. I've been looking online at all these ways to save money, so gunna put them into practice this week - hopefully.

Luckily, I have no birthdays until September as there's only 9 days between DS1 and DTS' birthdays.

MultipleMama · 28/05/2013 10:58

shabs That sucks and I think for her to do that to your parents is horrible and completely disrespectful. There's no need to rub it in their face.

Also, it's okay to lose your temper sometimes ;)

shabbatheGreek · 28/05/2013 11:53

Thing is Mama I very rarely lose my temper but when I do everybody runs for the hills Wink he is back from holiday this morning and is having a second meeting with the Social worker and my parents.....the first one was between me and everybody else. He says I wasn't forceful enough and I should have talked over our parents and got them help even if they didn't want it.

Maybe he is right and I am wrong BUT I am me and he is whoever the hell he is!! I took one look at my Mums eyes - pleading with me, silently, to reject all the help. As she said 'I am still the wife and mother in this house and I can still manage'

He also told the current carers that there was only his son and dil who would be helping while he was on holiday. Ahhhh well let him think he is right - I know what I do and have done this week.

MultipleMama · 28/05/2013 12:11

You can only be forceful so much before. You can't make someone listen or take help no matter how many times you tell them. And forcing help on some does more harm than good and it isn't as easy as it looks.

If he thinks you should have talked it over more than why doesn't he do it, instead of placing what looks like blame on your shoulders.

You know you've done what you can, so screw him ;)

Happy birthday to soklet.
Soks/Mama -A No spending month, or even week, would be a non starter in this household, there always seems to be something which needs replacing or getting for some reason.Blush
Shabs - Your db sounds so much like mine when it comes to care gor our parents. We daughters do all the running around and practical things whlst they "grandstand" , bluster and demand people listen to them as they think they know best, but they don't actually do anything effective. Tell him to go take a running jump! Also, your SiL was thinking only of herself, "oh look at poor me, getting divorced after all that time married". She obviously was too self absorbed to think of the implications to your parents of her announcement.

I was wondering that! She has gone very quiet!

I was away for the weekend, seeing family. Felt quite low yesterday, coming back and being stuck in with the kids on my own again and the rain all day. But the sun is shining again today!

MultipleMama · 29/05/2013 12:32

I hope she's managed to get away!

Chops - hope you're feeling okay! I always seem to be stuck in house even though I manage to take them out.

Afternoon, ladies. I turned 13 weeks yesterday, my 2nd trimesters is just around the corner and I'm praying T1 holds on even longer and is improving.

DD is at creche until 2pm so it's just me and my boys :)

Sokmonsta · 29/05/2013 16:08

I have a poorly Jen Jen glued to me today. When she lets me put her down, she just lays on the floor staring at me with her big puppy-dog eyes Hmm

Sokmonsta · 29/05/2013 16:11

Oh, and the no spend month has already gone to pot as car is booked in for service next week. Needs new ball joint (showed up as advisory on mot), and the mot guy told me my tailgate trim was loose. Which promptly came away in my hand when I went to put the pushchair in the boot. Needs fixing as its the bit which holds the handle to lift it. Oh well. Beans on toast for a month it is.

Sokmonsta · 29/05/2013 16:11

Happy 13 weeks mama. Here's hoping for an extra sticky t1.

MultipleMama · 29/05/2013 16:29

Our family car is due a service next month, so we're grasping at thin air to save up. Our previous car constantly used to brake down all the time, we dubbed it "the bank" as we kept putting money into it.

Nothing wrong with a bit of beans on toast, although it would go better with grated cheese on top!

Thanks Sok :)

Sokmonsta · 29/05/2013 17:58

Mmmm. Beans on toast and cheese. Am thinking that might have to be breakfast tomorrow now.

MultipleMama · 30/05/2013 07:47

About to serve up beans, toast and cheese. DTS are having their first cheese cubes and banana. Hope they like them!

Goodmorning girls :) yes we are here and its lovely apart from the weather, rained Tues, partly y/day and its raining today and we come home tomorrow! We spent 3 hours at the hospital on Mon, they did take out the drain and fixed the bag, so those of you who will remember "Gladys" is back! It seems to be working, still draining after 5 weeks! The consultant said he would look at the scan on Tues and ring dh on his mobile but we havent heard anything. My poor brother has had his heart surg delayed, should have been tomorrow, its now next Tues which at least means I can go up with him. Kids are behaving, dh is ok though finding it tiring though he wont admit it. I am the only one up as usual, we are going to Osbourne House today and hoping to see the sun later! Shabs, poor Mum, was she really drunk?:o
