Belated Happy Birthday Shabs, sorry I have not been on here, but all hell has broken out in the bubby household over the past few days!
My mum has had her care increased so she has a "put to bed" visit, but was then found outside by neighbour wandering at 3am on Sunday mornng, so we have now either got to devise a method so she cannot get out of her flat at night (but this includes a small hazard with fire evacuation) or put in overnight care- I stayed again last night, so havent been home since 7am on MondayXmas Sad. I had my pre-op assessment yesterday, and have been told I have to be on bed/chair rest for 6weeks, and not allowed to work for 3 months!.[fshock
M and J have been playing up,especially as I was doing my 2nd job as on call over the weekend, plus running back and forth to mums, so they and DH are at total loggerheads, and this does not bode well for me being imobile and DH as main carer over the next few months. J is also in trouble at school for lying and fightingXmas Angry, we have to see the year head on Friday, and now I am covering my colleagues work, as she is off with a bad back this week and next, so doing 45hr weeks her as well.[exhausted emoticom]

Hi all, he is home and recuperating but it is hard. He can walk fine but speech is difficult in terms of his brain knows what it wants to say but the info doesnt reach his mouth. This makes him very frustrated and he takes it out on me of course! He is being somehow less tactful than he was before, whether thats because of his impatience at not recovering fast enough I don't know. Feel a bit lost to be fair.

Hey girls! Sorry I've been absent. House of ill here I'm afraid. Dts are both down with vile cough/cold/temp which doesn't sound bad but they are both permanently on sofa under blankets watching cbeebies at the moment. Older ones had it last week too.

(((HM))) and also (((Bubby))). Hope things improve for you both soon.

Belated happy birthday Shabs Thanks. I hope your day was a good one.

I have been otherwise busy having a good old pre Christmas tidy up. We took the stairgates down on the living room and kitchen doors a while ago but managed to remove some of the paint on the doorframes so I have sanded and undercoated them today. Still no space for a tree so think that I might revert to the pot plant sized one and stick up some other festive decorations instead. Gave dts haircuts yesterday - my goodness that was fun Hmm Grin.

shabbatheGreek · 11/12/2012 13:10

HM so sorry - it must have been so scary. I saw your status on Facebook and panicked like mad. I can only imagine how long that journey must have been.

Sending my love and hope that DH improves quickly.

xxxxxxx

Sokmonsta · 11/12/2012 15:46

((((Hugs)))) HM and bubs, and bagpuss with the house of ill.

Well the twins and I went to get their glasses today. Jennifer's were a sod to fit so she has a bodge-it adjustment while they send frames away for them to be altered properly. Joshua's fitted fine. Surprisingly. And my little trooper hasn't taken them off since they were fitted. Jennifer on the other hand likes to chew hers Xmas Hmm

Both babies have also very much decided they need me more than anyone/thing else. Oh the joys of this stage of development. I know I shall be finding this bit particularly challenging as the elder two both went to nursery as this started so it was very short-lived. Mum has noticed though and has said she will have one twin once a week alternately so they get time away from me and one to one with me as well.

((((((((((((((((((((((HUG HUG HUG HUG HUG HUG HUG ))))))))))))))))))))))))) I wish my arms were this long to give you all a hug. HM, I can only imagine how scary the last few weeks have been for you all. I am praying for a swift and full recovery for your dh, like Rubes I wish there was something I could do. Sorry to hear of everyones troubles, hope thing soon pick up in time for Christmas. Life at Peace Towers is relatively quiet atm, the teens are teens, dh is behaving and I have a cold sore...........hate the things. HM my niece and her partner and baby are in Harrogate for a week, staying with Andys parents, their first little family holiday with Jacob. Chops............guess what? The boys came home from ATC tonight and I won 3rd prize in their Christmas raffle, a return/overnight trip on the Shuttle! Dh was not impressed as we get 3 free passes a year with P&O as he was an engineer with them, we are lucky if we use one! I was excited just to win something! Not been sleeping at all well, keep getting flashbacks of Mum, I still cant believe she has gone......bless you Mum xxxxxxxxx

bubby64 · 11/12/2012 23:42

HM so sorry to hear about your DH, hopefully he will make a full recovery.
bagpuss also sorry about your ill family.
soks I cant imagine trying to keep glasses on babies, its bad enough trying to keep a 12yr old wearing them!! Mind you, after searching high and low for J's this weekend, I found them stuffed in a drawer, he didnt want to tell DH he ad broken them!Xmas Angry Hopefully, they can be fixed, but I'll find out tomorrow.
((((( Trips ))))) as well, I think you need that as much as the rest of us.

morning girls x

Been so busy. Trimmed up now, got a REAL tree for the first time ever, and I love it. I sure the rabbits are eyeing it up through the patio doors. EIther that or it's cos it is soooo cold, poor things!

Comping has been manic - a lot of companies run advent competitions, so instead of a couple of hours, it's more like 6 hours a day atm! Had a few nice wins though. Won £100 for a fab pic of dh in a bad Santa comp, posted it on FB somewhere. Well done on your win, trips!

HM, Hope C is recovering, must have been such a scary time. Hope things improve soon for you both.

bubbly, you need a break!

bag puss, hope the dts are better soon. I also did a huge pre christmas tidy up yesterday. Took a full car of junk to the tip! I can see the floor in the loft again now!

Sokmonsta, I bet they look so sweet in them. I'm sure they will soon get used to them.

sassy, enjoy your break. Nail her down for those night shifts!

HarrogateMum · 12/12/2012 09:31

Thanks all - sorry to hear others are having difficult times too. Life is tough hey.... Am thinking of cancelling Christmas..

bubby64 · 12/12/2012 12:13

All blown up with mum again, last night she fell whilst wandering around in her flat, found on floor this morning. Have contacted SS for urgent review- I hope they put the dementia crisis team in (its run by the agency I work for, so I know the carers!) This usually involves 24hr a day care for 2 to 4 weeks to assess clients needs, and is fully funded by SS. I have already warned my company they may get a call about mum, in the meanwhile, we are having to pay private carer to stay overnight, as I cannot keep staying myself, neither can either brother, this is not cheap (£80 a day!), and cannot afford to do that for longSad.

bubby64 · 12/12/2012 12:16

HM I agree about cancelling Christmas, mind you, havent even sot around to starting it yet! not a bit of tinsel or light up in place, just the boys advent caladers to remind us its coming!!

Thanks for the well wishes folks, dt1 is pretty much better now and dt2 is still really ill. He has now started to somehow vomit snot Hmm all over my zebra print slanket Sad.

On the plus side I have a lovely new divan base for our bed today. The downside is that it arrived slightly damaged and I only noticed once I had assembled it, put bedding on and started putting things away in the drawers (it is one drawer that is broken). So 40 minutes on the phone to John Lewis who want to replace the whole bed, not just the damaged bit and it is out of stock so have to wait a week. Dt1 then decided to wet herself at the school gate, this was following dt2 who pooed in his pants just before we left. I can't even drink any wine yet as ds1 needs a lift to school for a disco later .

Bubby, I have my fingers crossed that everything works out the way you need it to with your mum.

HM, thinking of you and your family xx

Must dash, ds1 now wants help putting gel in his hair!

triplets · 12/12/2012 21:26

Is it me or is there unrest in the air?? So man of us seem to be struggling with one thing or another.............its a strange time. I am like a yoyo, one day I feel all Christmassy and tell myself I am going to make it the best one ever, really try and make it extra special for the kids. I have all the house beautifully decorated, real tree, made my own mince pies, Christmas cake etc. Presents all wrapped, cards sent...............................but............by 8pm tonight I could have cried. Feel as though I am kidding myself, wearing "the mask that she keeps in a jar by the door"............you know it Shabs. Yet I have so much to be thankful for. Had a lovely day today, went to school, had fun with the little ones, then went back to watch them in the Nativity which was really sweet............so whats wrong with me?
