Found odd entry on credit card statement

Hi
I found a credit card entry for £88.94 on hubby's statement. Instead of a shop/company name it simply states "2907fe91-66a2-47bb-9f7"

Any ideas.

Would 2 bicycle tyres and postage come to as little as €88...?

Surely the postage would be about €30 of that.

And why would you get them directly from Italy? Are they a rare size or can't anyone source them in the UK?

He’s confirmed it’s bike tyres. This is such a non event.

Tatonka · 01/03/2024 01:54

Ask him?

Bjorkdidit · 01/03/2024 02:50

That looks like the format of the reference number that appears as part of the buyer's address when you sell something on eBay.

So if he bought them on ebay, that could be the explanation.

But if he's up to no good, he needs to work on his cover story.

Out of common husband sins (affairs, drugs, gambling), on MN some of these seem to be a less worse option than being a keen cyclist Grin.

I'd expect a retailer to be listed not some random 22 digit number consisting of numbers & letters. That's the odd bit for me

Maybe your exo citations are at fault but as youre ignoring the only pertinent question of whether said bike tyrew is exist what qr you can expecting people to say?

International transactions often look like that when they come through. We get them at work fairly often, but since it is usually me who's made them, I know who they are and what the payment was for.

I was just going to say you should see my statements 😂 I usually have four or five utterly bizarre transactions listed, and have to consult my budget spreadsheet for an amount and approximate date that match.

Some dropshippers and overseas sellers trade under names relating to the first products they ever sold online so, as well as auto-generated IDs that mean nothing, I have purchases from names like "Super Sexy Missy", "Strong Universal Fittings" (unrelated, I hope), and "轻松在线购买".

88.94 is angel numbers for...

Goforitagain · 01/03/2024 05:05

Surely he knows if he bought the tyres and how much for, I sometimes have a momentary panic about transactions on my credit card as they are sometimes not recognisable and I have to think what they are

Smidge001 · 29/02/2024 21:49

I reckon it might be bike tyres from Italy.

RJnomore1 · 01/03/2024 05:23

Well if he bought bike tyres from Italy presumably online he will have an order email. You could make him show you it.

But if you don’t trust him to be honest there’s a much bigger problem than a bizarre transaction name is there not?

CallItLoneliness · 01/03/2024 05:33

How long ago was the transaction? My CC often has weird stuff like this until the transaction is fully processed.

NomDePrune · 29/02/2024 23:54

Cancel the cheque!

Is this 1992?

Goforitagain · 01/03/2024 05:41

It depends whether you think its a scam or something nefarious that your DH is doing, if DH is happy with the transaction it won't be scam

DiscoBeat · 01/03/2024 05:45

They've probably put the tyre reference number as a transaction reference. Anyway, I wouldn't question my DH's transactiona (or go through his statements) unless I did his books or didn't trust him.

Copperoliverbear · 01/03/2024 05:57

What a rude person

Estellaa · 01/03/2024 06:04

Where is the 2nd thread? Is op as ride there as here?

Estellaa · 01/03/2024 06:05

Rude

uggmum · 01/03/2024 06:36

If you call the credit card company they will tell you what type of retailer it is as they all have a code.

So if it a tyre company it will be categorised as some type of motor spares/retailer.

Isitovernow123 · 01/03/2024 06:39

Op has posted he’s shown her the invoice and it all matches up.
🤦

MoreLidlThanWaitrose · 01/03/2024 06:54

DH is a bike mechanic. Bike parts can be an absolute bastard to track down and he ends up sourcing them from all over them place. If the client wants a very specific bottom bracket/tyres/group set etc there is a really good chance he’ll end up ordering from mainland Europe.

He’s given you an answer. You don’t believe thin. There isn’t enough information for us to know either way. You sound suffocating.
