That sounds a bit rubbish. I've been working for them since 2020 (was Lionbridge originally) and I had to do one big "exam" for map search and once I passed that a smaller country-specific assessment but that was it.

It does remain the case though that reading the new task guidelines is in your own time, which gets annoying.

I also work for Data Annotation and you can bill for time spent reading guidelines - I should do more DA and less Telus but I quite like the fact that I can do Telus tasks practically in my sleep whereas DA requires a lot of mental effort and concentration.

I was initially entered inro the big exam, but couldn't do the date they set me so was moved date but to a different exam, which I have to admit seemed much easier!

I've now been invited to a core exam and the guidelines are huge so I'm really not sure if i will bother.

I have been working but it's mainly audio evaluations, although I'm starting to wonder if its worth my time since the rate of the tasks works out to only £8.20 an hour whi h has been a surprise as I thought they advertised a rate of around $22 p/h

I'm also on data annotation but it's very sporadic for me, although I do have some outstanding tests, but again as they aren't paid I wonder if its worth doing and how regular any resulting work would be.

I do feel these companies should pay you for any tests once you have done all the initial on boarding ones, or at least pay if you pass them as so much time seems to be spend reading guidelines and doing tests.

The Lionbridge rate, if you work to the ETA, should be exactly UK minimum wage - they're legally obliged to pay that I think.

Definitely take some more of the DA tests - I do have some dry spells but also a lot of the time more work than I can get through and of course the pay is better.

Telus is actually slightly over minimum wage (or was when I last worked it out) but I think it's near impossible to get for example 6 10 minute tasks done in an hour because of the time taken to submit and load the next one. Shorter length tasks are even worse. If you do tasks quicker than the ETA you'll get a warning so most people use a timer.

They recently suspended then got rid of a load of people (including me despite my performance rating being fine), so just be aware they can be quite shitty to work for. Unfortunately I didn't get into DA and I can't work for a proper employer so a bit stuck at the moment.

I can generally do the Telus tasks within the timeframe or quicker (quicker and I just browse MN/X till it's time to submit). If I get one that I can't, I assume the time allocated is unreasonable and release the task.

Anyone on Prolific that was doing the AI videos - have you had any this week? I had loads last week but not had any at all this week. Just wondering if they aren’t doing them this week or if for some reason I’m not getting them?!

They rotate us in and out. I’ve not seen them either but others on another forum have so I’m assuming I’ve been rotated out again 😭

I was rotated out for two months last time. Just letting you know so you can prepare yourself because it can be quite a shock when they disappear for a long time.

I have had another 2 of the AI ones this afternoon. I don't want them to end as I like doing them and they are easy money really.

Ah that’s a shame. I have been getting them steadily over the last few months but the last 2 weeks were never ending. I have had a few other AI things (guess that’s the way now) so hopefully I’ll get a good amount. Glad I capitalised last week now!

I was getting them yesterday but none today yet. I’ll be gutted when they dissapear as they’ve been keeping me afloat after being made redundant.

I’m the same and I’ve really struggled since they disappeared so really try and plan for it!

I’m with Data Annotation as of a couple of weeks ago and see plenty of work so far, generally advertised as $22-30 ph. I wouldn’t bother with the $15 ph ones as not worth my while as a higher rate tax payer. I did do an additional test which I passed as well as core - I think it was called side by side fact checking or something.

I finally got around to doing an AI video and had a message afterwards saying there had been quality issues with my submission and repeated issues will effect my ability to participate. I’m a bit offended as I’ve no idea what was wrong with it!

I got the same message and was also annoyed because I couldn't think what I had done wrong. 🙄

I’ve done another one since with no negative feedback so who knows what I did the first time!
