I had that with a previous incarnation of Toluna - Valued Opinions I think it was called. They may not have been an incarnation, but they did a lot of their surveys which made me think they were linked in some way. My account was put on hold for 'inconsistencies' with no comeback - conveniently for them just as I was nearing the minimum £10 payout.

That's pretty much what's just happened - I was at 77k points, payout level was 80k. Very frustrating, just trying to use my mindless scrolling moments to recoup a fraction of all the cost of living increases! I see people mentioning attapoll in recent messages, do they have a better reputation?

Thanks for your response.

@EarthSwallowMeWhole this is the link for Search Sciences: https://www.searchsciences.co.uk/index.asp^^ - it is writing internet content to specific briefs and to specific deadlines. It's more of a "proper" job than a sideline as it can be quite labour intensive but I really enjoy it and average £10 an hour from it.

I was just browsing this thread out of interest - this is something I know nothing about - I went to click on this link and my browser gave me a security risk warning saying "it detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.searchsciences.co.uk. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details."

Is it not a safe site then?

@SirTarquinius , they have moved to a new site: https://searchsciences.co/ so the old one doesn't work anymore. Unfortunately I cannot edit my previous post on here. Hope this one works better for you Smile

thank you @ruralwanderer

@justalittlebitextra Thanks I had not seen anything about that with Payoneer so just login and seen a message. I only use it for Appen and not had any work for ages now. Did you close your Payoneer account? I am expecting they will make it difficult to close. I had enough problems setting Payoneer up!

MaudGone · 20/06/2023 19:16

Is there anywhere you can do occasional bits of freelance writing?

Gorringe · 24/06/2023 08:37

Any one here who’s been with Potato (very discreet 😂) a long time will remember when one of the higher ups came in to slack to let everyone know that mumsnet was being monitored and to basically shut up about anything potato related, my view was that if it hadn’t been such a crap company to work for they wouldn’t have minded a lot of lovely accounts of working there .. can’t have it both ways - a company always trying to dictate the narrative😬

sorrynotathome · 25/06/2023 06:55

Ah that explains the whole potato thing. Extraordinary really. I worked in an industry sector that has a fully funded website dedicated to people slagging off their own companies, sharing scandals and gossip etc. It’s normal!

Okisenough · 25/06/2023 13:23

I think savoury snacks is getting worse day by day. And there are a few senior snack eaters that I find quite rude. I generally don't engage with them anymore as you get nothing for being helpful. C'mon lottery win lol

unicorncrumble · 25/06/2023 13:28

This is so useful!

PorpoiseWithPurpose · 25/06/2023 17:41

Can anyone link to the potato Twitter scandal? Have searched for it, but no luck. Would love to read it!

This is what I found when searching. Assuming this is what I was accused of being involved with.

Did you get your SARs request? @kpfragglesrock

I remember Jeanette saying about this thread and all I thought was treat people better then? Less stick more carrot.

I bet their big American client would love to hear how they treat people.

Ha! Yes, was because of these threads. I made the decision to leave them a few years ago and have never looked back. Hated Heidi, always had it in for everyone 🫥

I was always tempted to email Disney and tell them what a shit company they have moderating for them

PorpoiseWithPurpose · 26/06/2023 06:49

Thanks @kpfragglesrock.
Seemingly someone was pushed to the edge and I don’t blame them.

kpfragglesrock · 26/06/2023 07:55

It wasn't me 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

cailingaelach · 26/06/2023 16:26

Anyone still with potato, did you get paid this month yet? I haven't and it's usually in by now.

ilikeeggs · 26/06/2023 17:49

@cailingaelach i got paid on the 20th.

cailingaelach · 26/06/2023 18:05

@ilikeeggs thanks, I just dropped them an email. I didn't get invoice till 16th and sent it off 18th, hopefully it'll be in my account soon!

JanetheObscure · 27/06/2023 11:23

@justalittlebitextra Thanks for flagging up the $30 Payoneer fee, which is my signal to bow out of Appen. I've done bits and pieces for them, but not enough to justify the massively increased Payoneer charge.

Having had the same experience as others with a cluttered page of closed surveys and endless screening out, I think I'm also going to knock Intellizoom on the head.

Which leaves Prolific as my sideline - luckily that still seems to be functioning well!

Winterjoy · 27/06/2023 11:53

Does anyone do the p*wzr task on Ap? Wondering it it's worth pursuing.

Buster27 · 27/06/2023 20:13

I've done a couple of easy Appen projects recently. There's a recording one now (Waka*) that took way less time that stated so a decent earner (well assuming it goes through QA ok, it was simple so it should!).
Also got a transcription project atm that I'm enjoying and pays ok too.

I wasn't aware of the new $30 Payoneer fee thing though so that's annoying!
