So what do people find are there best things for making extra money?
Since Feb I've been doing survey sites and referrals, the extra has been fab and quite enjoying it Smile

rhij86 · 16/03/2022 11:22

@Clairebtiml matched betting is a good earner initially if you haven't done it before. I make somewhere around 1.5k when I did it a few years back.

For me at the moment Crisp is my best earner, but there's a long waiting list for that. Prolific (surveys) is doing well for me at the moment.
If you can get onto a good appen project that can be a really good earner - $14 an hour is the usual rate.

This month I've made loads on vinted! When my children grow out of their clothes I usually put the whole 'wardrobe' up on fb marketplace and get £10-£20 if I'm lucky for the lot. This month I've put items up individually, or as smaller bundles, on vinted, and I've made over £200 :)

Thank you so much,
I will have a look into those x

Tinging · 16/03/2022 13:07

Haven’t been keeping up with the thread recently so may have missed relevant comments but is crisp worth starting at the moment? I have just had an on boarding email (a mere two years and two months after passing the test😳) and I’m wondering if I should bother. Is it above minimum wage once you get the hang of it?

rhij86 · 16/03/2022 13:28

@Tinging there's been a massive lull in content for a while but I think with current events it's on the up. Personally I would say it's worth finalising everything and getting your access - the minimum amount you have to do per month to stay active isn't that much, so even if you keep it in your back pocket ticking over it's there as back up.

It's hard to say how much you'll earn once you're in the swing of things, it used to be very easy to consistently make £10 an hour but that's not the case any more. Some days you would struggle to make that over 3 or 4 hours, other days (take last Friday for example) I made £30 in two hours. A lot of it will depend what times you are able to log on and work too. Late nights/weekends are always more lucrative as there are fewer people working.

I would say there's no harm in getting your access sorted and seeing how you feel about it.

ruralwanderer · 16/03/2022 13:57

@Tinging, do it, there's good money to be made at the moment, especially if you can pick up shifts or work during the surges. It will probably slacken off again but it's a useful one to have in the back pocket because, as @rhij86 says, the minimum is achievable every month and it's something you can dip into whenever you have time. I often do 15 minute bursts in between other jobs and it does add up nicely. I'm on over £100 already this month Grin

Tinging · 16/03/2022 13:58

@rhij86 brilliant, that’s really helpful, thank you!

Redcrayons · 16/03/2022 13:59

@Tinging I agree with ^^ comments. It’s ok to keep you ticking over but £3 an hour is closer to average than £10. If you’re willing to sit In front of your laptop and do nothing else for 8 hours then you’ll do ok.
I got lucky last week and just logged on at the right time and made £20 in my lunch break. Yesterday I made £3 in the same amount of time.

And one other thing to watch for is that they massively over recruit. So if you’re on boarding then there will be loads more people joining and there will be a lot less work around.

Tinging · 16/03/2022 14:00

@ruralwanderer thank you, I’m going to get signed up this afternoon. The past couple of weeks on Lionbridge have been dire for me so something else as a back up is definitely a good idea.

Tinging · 16/03/2022 14:03

@redcrayons thanks, that’s kind of what I thought pay wise. I have other online work that takes up most of my time but will try to keep a closer eye on this thread and hope for the more lucrative times when I can do it. My other stuff is around the £10 an hour mark but I’m trying not to keep all my eggs in one easily ditched basket!

rhij86 · 16/03/2022 14:10

@Tinging once you get set up you'll have access to the tool used for communications regarding the work - I have it on my phone as well as the computer so if a message gets sent out about a surge in work or shifts being added, I'm almost always likely to see it quickly.

Good luck! :)

Tinging · 16/03/2022 14:19

@rhij86 oh that’s very handy to know, I’ll definitely do that, thanks again!

Catatemyhomework · 16/03/2022 16:01

@Tinging, it's interesting that you should say that about LB. I do maps with them but I have done barely anything since Christmas as the only tasks I ever seem to get are those 30 second ones which take way longer than 30 seconds to even read the instructions. I am amazed I haven't been kicked off due to lack of productivity but I can't seem to get in to it at all at the moment. I seem to be putting all my efforts in to Y*n but even that's gone extremely quiet this week and I find I am sitting around waiting for tasks.

Buster27 · 16/03/2022 19:22

@rhij86 I actually just signed up to Vinted about a week ago, seems fab so far! I was surprised to start selling things the same day I started listing. Seems better for the buyer than things like ebay.

@Catatemyhomework I had just gotten my Y*n mojo back when work started dwindling! Hope it picks up again soon.

rhij86 · 16/03/2022 19:41

@buster27 yes I've been very pleasantly surprised with vinted!! Nothing is safe in this house now, if it's not nailed down I'm going to try and sell it 😅

OP posts:
Buster27 · 16/03/2022 20:46

@rhij86 meant to say seems better for the seller, doh. I've sold a few low value items that I wouldn't have found it worth putting on eBay with their fees they take!

rhij86 · 16/03/2022 20:50

@Buster27 yes absolutely! and the fact you have to just print the shipping label rather than faff about with paying for the right postage etc is a big plus for me.

Ponyclubkick · 17/03/2022 10:33

Ok so I’ve made £20 on prolific in the last couple of days and today I’ve resigned myself into Appen which is showing quite a few projects for me to apply for but I have a few more questions.

If I get accepted onto an Appen project can I still apply for more at the same time and then have two running (obviously getting ahead of myself here!!)

I also wondered if people have more than one website running at the same time, ie prolific pinging while they are working on another project/work?

Redcrayons · 17/03/2022 11:52

@Ponyclubkick the rule with Appen is to sign up for absolutely everything you can feasibly do. Loads of projects sit on there for months without anything happening, or just disappear. You can do as many as you can get into.

With prolific, I have the widget in Chrome so when I’m on my laptop I get notified straight away. You won’t get anywhere if you only login when you get the invite by email.

Redcrayons · 17/03/2022 12:05

@Buster27 interesting about Vinted. I used to do quite a bit of eBaying a few years ago when my DCs were little and I was getting rid of outgrown toys and clothes. It just became so much hassle for pennies I stopped doing it. I might check Vinted out.

Buster27 · 17/03/2022 12:59

@Redcrayons Early days for me obviously but I haven't encountered any problems so far and I've found it quick and easy to use. I've only listed baby clothes so far (which I've found have sold well) but not sure how it is for other categories yet.

endofday · 17/03/2022 15:17

Appen people! T…k.e is coming to an end! I’m so sad! Are there any other projects like it?

Anybody recommend me a good Ap project to apply for?.I'm going to have to start 'diversifying' my work as I am hating every second of Y and I know my 12 months on Og*, which is boring but pleasant, isn't far off being up. Transcribing is ok but hard to do properly with baby in the evenings, I might have to jiggle my routine a bit and see if I can make that fit better as I do like it and I'm reasonably ok at it as far as I can tell.

Gatekeeper · 18/03/2022 06:03

Is anyone doing Jv on App*n..the one about books?
