Is anyone here on project Ykn with Appen? I applied ages ago and have just been sent an email with guidelines etc and to say I've been entered for the exam.

Wondering how difficult/intense it is as I'm a bit scarred by the LB maps exam and haven't attempted that one again even though they do still email me from time to time and ask.

@mothcontain I am, think it was a couple of months ago I did the exam. Honestly I did find it a bit intense as there's a lot of guidelines and 3 exams. I made a bit of a mess on my first attempt (failed part 2) but I was more relaxed on the second go (as I just assumed I'd fail again ) and passed all three.

You do get a week to do the process so if you can make use of the whole week/spread things out a bit it might be less intense. Also, try not to put pressure on yourself (you'll probably get a second attempt if you need/want it) and don't overthink it.

@Buster27 thanks for that, congratulations on passing. I'm off to a good start as the link they gave me for the general guidelines doesn't work so have had to email them.

No had anything in Appen for ages but have been invited to do the exam for project Ante , is anyone on this? Also just been accepted on project Moya but think I’ve got to wait for access to the tool.

I was so delighted to be accepted onto Appen project N* and have trundled along doing that only today I logged in fine only to find that all of my projects (4 of which I am only active on the one) have vanished!! Bits of the page are missing too; I can't see all of the projects available - is anyone else having that issue?

Also been invited to take the exam for Yk* so need to read up the guidelines which I can access. I have raised a ticket but my DD reckons it's a system problem...Has anyone experienced this before? Slightly terrified that they have just chucked me lol!! I loved the regularity of this little project and now don't want to not have that work. :(

Can anyone access Appen at the moment?

@adelais I've qualified for Anc* but not able to access it yet, but the chat is really busy so it looks like it's worth a bash.

Been invited to Y*n as well. Been working on and off for Appen for 6 years now. Guidelines looks complicated but will try my best.

I can update my invoice on Ap* but can't access any of the projects on the website.

I did some work this morning on a mobile srt and it hadn't saved when I went back to finish it this evening, so I assume that must be connected (although I was pretty annoyed at the time as I ended up having to redo it).

@bumblefeline @8dpwoah @flloyd @mothcontain Good luck to you all taking the Yu* exam. I had a similar experience as Buster27 failed one part but was able to resit and then surprisingly passed. I would say that I did find the guidelines much more straightforward than a lot of the shorter guidelines for other jobs. It is very time consuming studying and taking the exams but hopefully it's worth it to be on a long term project. What surprised me is the variety of tasks available when you start the job, most but not all based on aspects of the guidelines. Fairly nerve wracking coming across so many different jobs but I am finding it quite interesting.

Completely new to this. Need some work to fill in a few months while I am at home. How much do sites like Appen pay. For example how much do people average per hour. ( if that is how it works?)

Bear in mind that it can take months and months to get approved by Appen. I applied in April 2020 and although I got approved to work for them, I've never actually got any paid work. If you want to earn money straight away, you'll need to try some other things first.

That's good to hear @kneesknocking I wasn't sure what sort of task it might be, I know what you mean about thorough guidelines possibly being a massive plus over some projects!

@Orchid789 I can earn about £10 a day on my one hour project plus another 10 dollars a week doing the FB surveys. But if you want to be a bit more in control of your earnings the transcription sites are good as you can do as much or as little as you can fit in, rather than waiting to drop onto jobs as as @curdsandwhey says it can take ages to get onto anything meaty on App, I had 6 months where it was just the FB surveys. But it can build up, if I can pass the exam for another project that will potentially double my monthly earnings on App.

I've had the Yu* exam email as well this morning. Let's see how it goes as it would be good to get another long term project.

Hi, I have been asked to take the test on App** for Riv. I need to sign some documents and take a test but when I click on the link for the guidelines which I need to read before taking the test I just get taken back to the page were all of the projects are listed. Do you think the project is now full or maybe the link is just broken? Is anyone else experiencing this problem.or you have experience this before?
I was excited to get the email to take the test but now gutted I can't access the guidelines.

Yes, it can. The problem I have atm is that I have been working on projects but now they have just vanished on my 'My Projects'. Invoices are still live, as is the chat and everything else but not the projects to work on...:( Hopefully an issue at Appen's end not mine!!

Thinking of signing up for Rev - is there much regular work? Looks like you have to set up as a freelancer. I only earned £50 for the whole of last year doing this so not been successful enough to have to set it all up yet.

I think you could sit on Rev all day and keep busy @ffloogalBoom if you weren't too fussy about the files you worked on.

@orchid789 it's because most of the Appen projects have NDAs and things like that attached so they have to be mentioned in a way that you would only know the project if you were on the 'inside' and signed up for Appen if you see what I mean.

I've started reviewing the guidelines today for Ykn and realised I need way more time than I have this week to review them properly and do the exam, so have put my exam back as I think I need a pretty clear week to do it properly.

My Projects is still blank for me as well, so I'd prefer to wait for that to get sorted before I do it as well.
