As we're a few days into October thought I'd set up a new thread ( but couldn't think of a creative title!)

Hope everyone had a good September and hopefully lots of earning to be had this month. Welcome to any newcomers.. I've (hopefully) copied the usual links over from the last thread but if you have any questions ask away, there's usually someone who can help Smile

Looking for some Amur/Paypal advice.
So I bought something from a Chinese website. It’s complete crap. Not even in the realms of the same thing I ordered. Not the actual items but an example would be I ordered a proper mug, they sent me a child’s play knife and fork set.

Have submitted my review, it’s a scam site and the link to this item has disappeared. I was planning to just chuck it and move on, but it’s really irked me that If it was a UK seller I’d be sending it back.

So I complained via PP and they have offered me $10 and said I can keep it. It costs $35. They said I can have a full refund minus postage but I have to send it back or $10 to keep it. Now obviously I haven’t paid for it, so $10 is a bit of a bonus but I’m still annoyed that this is their business model. Send crap in the hope that it’s too much hassle to complain.
Do I escalate to PP, fortunately I have screenshots of everything and try for all my money. Or send it back which will probably cost me $10 so not worth it and they probably won’t refund me anyway.

Frenchdoors1 · 21/10/2021 15:14

@RightsHoardingRaptor I've just come on this thread to check if anyone else is having problems.
Yes I've just attempted it and it's down for some reason.

Frenchdoors1 · 21/10/2021 15:23

@RightsHoardingRaptor Don't know if you've checked but it's back on now Smile

IsMaithLiom2 · 21/10/2021 16:07

@8dpwoah thanks, they've actually already responded and the issue is sorted Smile hopefully I pass the offline assessment because I do think the company sounds like a good one and I like the assessments so far so I think I'll like the work!

Hi, I have recently started working for App. I have been doing the two facebook surveys for a few weeks now but I have recently been accepted on to project Cre*, the UHRS work. I was really excited to get on to this and start earning more money but I am not sure if its just me but I can't seem to quality for any of the HitApps. I have read the guidelines for each one but when I try to qualify I get a message each time saying I have failed because I have made to many mistakes. Is this just me or is this a difficult project? I spent about 3 hours yesterday reading the guidelines and trying to qualify but no luck. Shall I spend more time trying to qualify or is it not worth it.

I have applied for lots of projects on App* and I am worried that if I find them all as difficult as Cre then I don't have much chance of making much money. Are a lot of App projects like this?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Redcrayons · 21/10/2021 20:10

It’s not just you, I did the same.

Spend ages qualifying then get kicked off after a few minutes. I gave it another go again today, it’s the same. I don’t know how anyone makes money on there.

AnotherOne4 · 21/10/2021 20:12

@Homebird36 Welcome Smile Don't judge everything by Cre. IMO it's shit lol. You can work for hours and earn pennies. It's a good one to dip in and out of, but you'll never make a fortune there. I really don't think it's worth the effort.

Stick with Ap and you'll defo find it worthwhile. It does take agesss to get accepted onto projects, and you could potentially go months without any work. But stick with it, it's worth it in the end. I've been working on a project all week, and it's an easy one to whilst watching tv, lol.

8dpwoah · 21/10/2021 22:34

I agree stick with Ap, took me 6 months to get onto my hour a day project which is lovely and I've just got onto another one 9 months in tonight which is transcription (Ancl* if anyone else on here is on it?) which looking at the chat is quit a busy one.

I've done UHRS but not through Ap, I found it absolutely dire so I don't think I've ever been back on. I'm overdue baby two so I'm trimming right back to just Of and this new one for a bit as it's so flexible. I'll then pick up WWW as I don't want to lose my post with them through inactivity then if I ever have time again I might give Rev another go. It's been slow progress but to be at the point of having 'too much' work after less than a year and that's without trying half the things other people in the thread have suggested, is pretty good I think 🙂 the first 6 months was pretty demoralising though just doing the Facebook surveys but things do come through.

Buster27 · 21/10/2021 23:31

@8dpwoah, I just started Ancl* a couple of days ago, seems a nice earner.

@Homebird36 Agree with the posters above, App is worth it, eventually. Some projects turn out to be a waste or time or no work materialises, but there are also lots of good ones that are decent earners.

@Redcrayons I have heard that with paypal you are expected to return faulty items at your own cost. It's annoying as UK consumer law is that the seller should cover return costs for faulty items. As you say, it would be expensive to post by a tracked service, but if sent untracked, they are sure to deny receiving it!
I was about to suggest doing a chargeback, but if you used paypal the money probably came from your bank account, another time you could make the paypal payment via a card instead.

AnotherOne4 · 22/10/2021 06:36

@8dpwoah & @Buster27 is that a transcription job where you have to insert all the tags? I can never do those lol.

Redcrayons · 22/10/2021 08:58

Thanks @Snowballs1. I thought I had more protection with PP, and had a balance in there as I’d had some potato money paid in the there.
If I send it back and they refund me Id only be better off by a few quid. Plus I’ve got all the hassle of waiting for them etc.

on one hand I haven’t actually paid for it so I shouldn’t give it any more headspace. On the other hand, it’s really annoying me that genuine UK sellers have to refund and these will get away with ripping me off.

Will use my credit card for these ones in future.

8dpwoah · 22/10/2021 09:14
@8dpwoah* & *@Buster27 is that a transcription job where you have to insert all the tags? I can never do those lol.
It looks that way and looks more complicated than the two transcription companies I do bits for 😂 will give it a whirl anyway, the guidance was unusually comprehensive for an Ap project and I'm glad to see it looks ok @Buster27 you never know til you get into it do you?

Buster27 · 22/10/2021 11:34

@AnotherOne4 It is.. can be a bit confusing while you get to grips with it. In my early App days I suffered through a transcription one with lots of tag requirements, painful at the time but I got up to a decent speed by the end and now find I can pick up transcription guidelines quickly.. glad it paid off as I did question why I was doing it a couple of times Grin

@8dpwoah I saw this morning that they're expecting the project to last until next year Smile All the ones I've done so far are really clear audio which helps massively!

@Buster27 @Redcrayons @AnotherOne4 @8dpwoah thanks for your replies. Really helpful advice. Its great to know that all App* work isn't like Cre. I am enjoying doing the Facebook surveys and they are easy to do so fingers crossed something else comes along which is better than Cre* in the coming weeks and months.

AnotherOne4 · 22/10/2021 17:22

Just stick with it @Homebird36 It's defo worth it, once the good jobs come along. You just have to be patient, and keep applying for stuff and checking your account Smile

I think I've just been invited to do A**r. Not sure about it though, it slightly scares me lol.

curdsandwhey · 22/10/2021 17:53

@Redcrayons PayPal have a postage returns refund system where if you return something that doesn't give free postage, they will refund the postage for you, up to a cost of £15. Register here:

www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/refunded-returns

When you post something, keep the receipt, go into the transaction and follow the instructions for getting the postage refund. You'll need to submit a photo of the receipt and fill in a few little details, it's very quick.

I'm amazed PayPal didn't mention this to you. More people need to know about it!

ZetaPuppis · 22/10/2021 19:20

Anyone doing map work at Telus/LB that I could pm to ask something please?

AdaShelby · 22/10/2021 22:41

@Redcrayons usually things returned to China won't get delivered, so you'll be out of luck. I would take the $10 and forget it. It's free money.

AnotherOne4 · 23/10/2021 16:14

Missing all you guys in Ap chat. I'm going for the big one today, trying to do 12 hours Hmm Not sure I'll make it.

Redcrayons · 23/10/2021 18:59

Thanks @curdsandwhey I’ll take a look at the T&Cs properly. I hardly ever use PP so I should know it better.

@AdaShelby gah, I know you’re right. Not sure why this has annoyed me so much. I should stop wasting any more time on it.

Did you manage to do 12 hours? Grin We've had extra hours last week and this week and I'm struggling to do 6 hours a day. My clicking arm is killing me! Haha.
AnotherOne4 · 24/10/2021 08:42

@YonderTweek I did manage 12 hours. Never again though! haha It was d.r.a.i.n.innng! My SRT isn't reflecting the hours I put in either, which is annoying. I know SRT is always off, but when you put that much effort in, it's reassuring to know it's been clocked.

I miss the support and chat that we had going in SD chat. There's a few people in this chat who are obnoxious know it all's, who come in guns blazing with their opinions Hmm

It's great to get the extra hours isn't it, but it's also a bloody nuisance trying to fit them in lol. Good luck getting your hours in Smile

Catatemyhomework · 24/10/2021 12:19

@YonderTweek and @AnotherOne4, glad you are both doing well on App. I'm still not able to log in to fancy hat and didn't get SC. Having a pretty dire October.
@ZetaPuppis, I am on LB maps if you want to PM me? Haven't done much lately but I'll help if I can.
