@Theunamedcat

Does this get reported to hmrc? Or do we register as self employed and declare im a total novice
You'll need to register as self employed
LoLo2020 · 28/07/2021 14:13

@LoLo2020

I'm still doing the surveys on Appen but nothing else is coming up trumps in terms of projects, boo hoo :(
Bar asking me to do a project in London when I live 330 miles away Grin
CharlieB93 · 28/07/2021 14:29

Anyone know how you get paid from CW? I haven’t put any tax details in as I’m not sure what this is

8dpwoah · 28/07/2021 14:37

I'd say to everyone stuck on just surveys on App, stick with it if you can bear it, I've been waiting nearly a year for anything and finally got an hour a day project just before I go on mat leave/redundancy. I haven't changed anything on my profile, I just got lucky this time round I think!

MrsWombat · 28/07/2021 15:10

Has anyone managed to get onto Popple? I got an invite a few days ago, but I've been on holiday and couldn't do it. It's now saying no work when I try the test.

On the brighter side, I've had my first Etsy sale, and listed a couple of bits on TeachersPayTeachers.

VN15 · 28/07/2021 17:24

Hi everyone.
I just stumbled across this from a Facebook page. Would anyone kindly explain how you get into this? Is there another thread with a guide or helpful tips? Thanks

Heyha · 28/07/2021 17:44

Hi @vn15 best thing to do (or at least, what I did is...) have a look through each of the links at the start of this thread and sign up to anything that takes your fancy, then you'll probably find you've got specific questions. I don't think I've ever seen a question that somebody didn't know the answer to on here, it's an amazing little thread group!

Have you got any particular skills you want to make use of or is it a general earn a bit on the side kind of thing?

VN15 · 28/07/2021 17:49

Thanks for replying @Heyha

I’d just like to try and earn a little bit extra each month. I’ve had a look through a couple of sites. Do I join and apply for a piece of work? I’m a little confused but I think I’ll take a proper look and try and figure out what to do.

ZetaPuppis · 28/07/2021 17:50

Thanks @TheLolaMontez
Such a shame.

AnotherOne4 · 28/07/2021 17:54

@MrsWombat I did the qualification for P**e, but not heard anything back yet.

TheresALight · 28/07/2021 19:05

Same as you @MrsWombat, gutted as it looks like a nice project. I emailed them about it and they said to keep watching out for further instructions whilst they finalise the workers

ZetaPuppis · 28/07/2021 19:09

Seems to be a fair bit of potatoes to peel for dinner at the moment.

olivethegreat · 28/07/2021 20:12

Just got an acceptance email from Rev! First time I've passed anything for ages!

Is this a good one? Also, I'd like to wait til schools back until I start - reckon that's ok and should I register now but not work til
Sept or wait to register?

olivethegreat · 28/07/2021 20:13

On getting in to app, can't through chrome but I managed to do my surveys using safari today .

Adelais · 28/07/2021 21:46

I still can’t get into Appen on chrome or edge browsers but can login on my phone on safari. I don’t think you can do the surveys on your phone though can you?

TheLolaMontez · 28/07/2021 22:43

Potato still busy-ish folks

Annoy · 28/07/2021 23:18

Thanks for this thread! I’m new to this and I’ve only signed up to Prolific as I’m not too serious about the projects and stuff. I just want to make some easy cash without having to deal with tax and invoices etc. I’ve made £20 since starting yesterday 😃

TheLolaMontez · 29/07/2021 07:21

Had a good run on potato last night, if only every day could be like that! Managed nearly the monthly minimum in just over an hour Grin

ZetaPuppis · 29/07/2021 08:35

@TheLolaMontez it was like back in the good ole days Smile would love it to be like that again.

TheLolaMontez · 29/07/2021 08:39

It was exciting! Proof that I need to get out more 🤣 I find it gets a bit addictive when it's like that Grin the dashboard is back to updating hourly now, I'm not so keen on such a long wait time, ah well, I'm sure I'll adjust

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 29/07/2021 09:10

Can I ask what is probably a daft question regarding paying tax? I'm employed part time and pay the necessary tax on those earnings. I'm not earning a huge amount on surveys as I'm only registered with Prolific and Intellizoom. Since I started in April I've earned around £200. Do I need to declare my earnings? Or can I earn up to a certain amount before I need to think about that? It's also something I need to keep in mind for my student loan, for which I'm still in a period of deferment. My earnings from surveys still won't get me anywhere near the threshold though. I just want to make sure everything is above board.

YonderTweek · 29/07/2021 09:29

@Leaveitonthefloordrobe Hello! I'm not entirely sure as I haven't done my first tax return yet, but I think if you earn more than £1000 doing this you have to register as self employed and then do the assessment. I think that's how it went anyway - it's a bit confusing. Blush I'm not in paid employment at the moment, so I'm not sure how it would work if you had other earnings. I would guess that if you went over the earnings threshold with your salary and surveys/other work combined, you would be taxed for them? Maybe someone else has more info? I'm rubbish at this. Haha.

I seem to be getting some work on K**x which is brilliant because SD ended, however, it's very on and off and I've found myself back in the project that has the most confusing guidelines so fack knows if I'm doing it correctly or not. I'm going to keep working for as long as I can so I will actually earn some money this month. I woke up at 2.30 this morning and couldn't sleep so I already managed a decent amount before DC woke up. Grin

Anyone heard back from Po**le yet? They seem to be taking their time.

Hollbeach · 29/07/2021 09:30

Could anyone provide me a link for potato Please

Frenchdoors1 · 29/07/2021 10:06

Thanks YonderTweek. I did have £1000 in my head. I don't think I'll make that much but if bibget close I'll make some enquiries.
