@YetAnotherRainyDay Thanks, do they charge a fee or is it just the rate from dollar to sterling?

It's just the rate.

seizethecuttlefish · 30/05/2021 09:44

First Rev transcription done. Not going to make me rich but nice to have something a bit more consistent. Thanks for the suggestion.

whysotriggered · 30/05/2021 12:14

This is the biggest problem with being paid in dollars, you are at the mercy of exchange rates and lately, they have not been in our favour. I think when I first started it was something like $1 was about 81p, it is now 70p! And of course, the one used by PayPal/Payoneer is worse.

swiftt · 30/05/2021 12:19

@seizethecuttlefish if you can rattle through enough minutes to hit Plus status, the pay rates jump significantly and it makes it much more worthwhile than it seems at the beginning. But it’s definitely nice to have something consistent when you need it.

seizethecuttlefish · 30/05/2021 12:42

@swiftt the first one I could get was 15 mins long and I was panicking about it getting reviewed. So glad it's done. There was no work last night but I have it in my sights now. Thanks so much.

@whysotriggered the exchange rate is diabolical and like you, I remember the hazy days in the 80p range. The Ap hourly rate has gone from about £12/hr equivalent to about £9.80 and that's before fees and the like.

Loughrigg77 · 30/05/2021 18:13

Thanks for your help @Lolo2020. Sorry didn't reply earlier, we're on holiday

AnotherOne4 · 31/05/2021 10:03

Last day of the month peeps! (can't believe it's June tomorrow. Eek!)

How's everyone's month been? I've had a good wkd on SD. Can't believe it's still going.

Ooh I know! So SD wise all good, wish incentives would kick in again :) Already at 10 hours done for this week. No signs of it stopping either yay 😁 Let's see if we get any comms as it's month end
AnotherOne4 · 31/05/2021 10:25

@LoLo2020 Hopefully by the end of today I'll be 18 hours done and dusted on SD. That gives me a bit of breathing space for the week. Like you though, wish the incentives were back, as I'd have time to do them this week lol.

Can you imagine what the bill for this project is going to be? Must be astronomical.

Oh I know, so I'm sure that they still make a lot of money, even after they've paid us! How do you even begin to sign off the invoicing. Can't imagine everyone does it right BlushThink I have but who knows Grin

Way to go you got getting the hours in, that's amazing. Maybe we can feel less tired this week ha ha! I'd really welcome another project like Sutherland

AnotherOne4 · 31/05/2021 10:36

Judging by some of the people who post in chat, I'm convinced some are doing it wrong. But who knows....

I just got a £7.50 Prolific survey rejected. Not happy Angry

Oh wow that's not on!!! Do they state why? I continue to plug away at Prolific although volume has reduced somewhat
AnotherOne4 · 31/05/2021 13:41

I queried it and they said I failed some of the attention checks. I remember doing the survey, as it was a long one, and I remember the attention checks, so I think they are just trying it on. I've gone back to them, just waiting for a reply.

swiftt · 31/05/2021 13:47

@AnotherOne4 how annoying! Especially for one with decent pay. Hopefully they’ll pay up.

I had all good intentions of whacking in the hours on SD and Riv today but I feel soooo tired, and at the same time antsy and can’t sit still. I’ve done an hour this morning and that’s it. Really need to get the hours in before this baby makes an appearance though!

swiftt · 31/05/2021 14:09

Oh, no work now! I should have put the hours in this morning whilst there was work. Oh well, suppose I’ll just have to go and wallow in the sunshine!

AnotherOne4 · 31/05/2021 15:23

@swiftt when are you due?

I've just done a decent hour on SD, but it's dried up again now. It's always the way, when you want to work, there is none!

swiftt · 31/05/2021 16:03

@AnotherOne4 due on the 10th. Fed up and uncomfortable but selfishly could do with another couple of weeks of being able to work and save some pennies for mat leave. 😂

Oh, did you? I’ll try again later tonight and keep my fingers crossed!

Oooh not long now then. I do remember you posting awhile ago about trying to save the pennies. Sorry to hear you're uncomfortable, you're nearly there though Smile

SD is painful today.

Catatemyhomework · 31/05/2021 23:36

I've spent a lot of time working on SD and Riv this weekend. Managed 10 hours on SD which I'm reasonably happy with. Just 10 to go. Only 3 hours on Riv yesterday as today it seems there is no work available on the link I was working on. Hope they reload it soon, although that project is exhausting! Loving the SD chat room on Appen. such a lovely bunch! Hello to those on here too!
1 June tomorrow. I think I may have just scraped £1000 this month, my best month ever. I can't believe it. I will definitely be treating myself to a haircut in June. Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend Smile

AnotherOne4 · 01/06/2021 07:39

@Catatemyhomework well done on getting the hours in.
I should have looked at my total earnings on there, seeing as we can’t add anymore now. I’ll look later.
SD chat is great, I think a few of us are on there. It’s good fun working out who is who lol

MrsWombat · 01/06/2021 08:04

Just finished off SD for the month. £450 for all my Appen projects. My highest for a long time, and my 2nd highest amount from them ever. I hope the data comes in steady for the next few days so I can enjoy half term with the kids and but also work around their activities. I'm doing overtime at another site from next week for the next few weeks so I'm going to struggle to make any minimum requirements. Sad (But yay overtime!)

LoLo2020 · 01/06/2021 08:41

I'm invoicing for just over £1k so never expected I'd earn that sort of money when I started this mid April! Woo hoo! (Assuming they pay me correctly) 😅

rhij86 · 01/06/2021 09:54

woo well done all for all these totals!
I've managed about £150 between potato and the regular appen surveys. I also made £95 through facebook sales, so not a totally horrific month.

I've just set up my calendar log for June so I can keep track of tasks and earnings. I've also chased appen again for my SD logins. I've got a meeting at 10 then hoping to get a couple of hours in on something. What's the general concensus on Riv? Are people working it? Is there still content?

Thanks :)

AnotherOne4 · 01/06/2021 10:08

@LoLo2020 well done, that is an amazing total!
I do think we’ve been very lucky with this project. Let’s hope it carries on a little longer.
