I've just quickly started a new thread as the other one was finishing

Just seen potato email with shifts for everyone available tomorrow evening, must be something big on? Was surprised to find all shifts still available, as email was sent nearly 3 hours ago, which probably means they've overestimated how many people are needed, & content is slow loading but you are committed to carry on working. That has been the case on most of the few shifts I've manged to get in the last month or so

Frenchdoors1 · 28/05/2021 12:40

@PandemicPalava

How did some get 100%?! Hats off to them
I know, I struggled on most of them.

@AnotherOne4

What should the time be set to in Metrics to match the Appen invoice? There's like 10 million options on there Confused

(I want to check and double check my times, before I invoice next week)

Ahh, dunno I'm afraid, too many options like you say..
**@AnotherOne4* @Frenchdoors1 Cal**h looks like a fairly easy one based on the qualification quiz, so hopefully it will happen and you'll both get on it. I applied ages ago and only now was invited to do the quiz so they did take their time.
Ooh that sounds promising.
Thank you!

Bank holiday Saturday? Potato peelers away or drunk, lots of drunken comments expected on social media?
Redcrayons · 28/05/2021 13:50

@MrsWombat @Snowballs1 There’s a big thing happening which starts at 8 with one of their clients, a thing that people get very worked up about and post a lot Grin.
Last time I picked up a shift it Was dire. Busy for 10 minutes then watching the clock for the rest of the time, made a fiver for an hours work.

rhij86 · 28/05/2021 14:05

@Snowballs1 how annoying, I didn't get an email? Thanks for the heads up! Irritatingly tomorrow evening I'm out for the first time in well over a year. I've booked myself on for the 11pm shift, not planning a wild one so will aim to be home by then, hopefully it's worth it!

0htooooodles · 28/05/2021 14:09

@Redcrayons I totally misread those shifts and thought it was something to do with today....but seems no one is fussed about that 🤣🤣

Tattiespuds · 28/05/2021 14:16

@Redcrayons what's happening? Am I being a bit silly not knowing?

rhij86 · 28/05/2021 14:18

@Tattiespuds I had to google it Grin there's a rather popular sporting event on.

Tattiespuds · 28/05/2021 14:24

Can I ask a possible daft question, I've been scouring appen like crazy and found lots of answer to some of my previous questions (Sorry about that) so trying to find answers before asking here so i dont become that annoying person who asks everything.

BUT I have read on different pages/guides different answers so was wondering what others do,

I have just done a hr on a project do I add that to my invoice now or wait till later after I have done all work for the day?

Can I add now and amend time spent working as I work more, or do I add multiple lines for the same day, same project?

rhij86 · 28/05/2021 14:27

@Tattiespuds it's personal preference really!
You can amend your entries at a later time/date.
I would usually add it now, in case I don't do any more for the day. If you manage another batch later on, just go in and amend the total time spent :)

I saw you mention time zones earlier? I think they're PST - their day starts at 8am our time.

PandemicPalava · 28/05/2021 14:38

I tend to add the hours after every chunk of work I do and just keep adding on as the day goes on. It seems to be fine to edit and re-save the draft

LoLo2020 · 28/05/2021 15:08

So I run my time from end of April to present to it gives me the full pictures (from the drop down option in the calendar :) )
Tattiespuds · 28/05/2021 15:29

@rhij86 & @PandemicPalava excellent! thanks what I had hoped for!! right thats me up to scratch for now.

Do we get a heads up when a project ends , just curious to how long term it might be

PandemicPalava · 28/05/2021 15:30

I don't think we do although some more experienced raters think these jobs can end quite abruptly… I hope we will get some warning

rhij86 · 28/05/2021 15:48

@PandemicPalava @Tattiespuds I'm not on any long term appen jobs at the moment (booo) but it varies massively from project to project. Some go on for years (and are still going on), others (like the ones I started out on) can be super high on content for a few months (In Sept - Dec of 2019 I was earning upwards of £800 a month from one project) and then one day you get an email saying the project will be ending at the end of the week/month. It's really annoying, especially if you're putting all your energy into that one project.

PandemicPalava · 28/05/2021 15:50

@rhij86 this is what I fear most and even on good months I have to remind myself it could end at any time

rhij86 · 28/05/2021 15:52

@PandemicPalava I'm desparately trying to get myself to a point where all bills etc are covered with our normal salaries, and anything I earn through this stuff is 'extra' to throw at debts/savings/fun - it's a hard slog at the moment though

PandemicPalava · 28/05/2021 16:43

@rhij86 good luck!

Snowballs1 · 28/05/2021 16:44

@redcrayons, I thought it might involve something being kicked around Smile, it did get busy one evening fairly recently after similar, think there was even a surge for all of 15 minutes, which is about all we get these days. I hope it is as busy as they're expecting

Snowballs1 · 28/05/2021 17:01

I wasn't very clear, It was just a normal humanity one with shifts listed, not actually from potato. That's annoying for you, I booked on the 8pm one but have realised I may have family visiting, will have to shoo them away in good time Grin or drop the shift well in advance

What happened when you were under the minimum level last month, did they contact you about it? I've done it once when I had log in problems which I gave up on for a while, they were ok with it. I find in general their bark is worse than their bite

Tattiespuds · 28/05/2021 18:20

@rhij86 thats my worry getting a good earner then it's gone with nothing to replace with, but I'm like you trying to get sort and use this as debts/saving and fun

AnotherOne4 · 28/05/2021 20:36

Just worked out my RPH for the last 7 days on SD. I'm at 64. I was expecting it to be higher, but I guess it's ok.

LoLo2020 · 28/05/2021 21:12

That's spot on @AnotherOne4

So ADAP, apparently if you've not completed jobs via it you're less likely to see work so that's worth noting for everyone (support got back to me). Be mindful that if you've been offered a job via it, doesn't mean to say you'll actually see the job!
