How much is your weekly food shop?

My other half alway moans at how much I spend on the weekly shop. There’s 2 adults and 2 year old. I spend between £120 - £130 (in the UK) We are dairy free and go through 5/6 cartons of oatly milk a week, so there’s a tenner right there. Because he goes on at me so much I was starting to think it was a lot, however his brother and partner came round a couple of days ago and they started talking about their shop and his brother was saying he usually spends about £120 for 2 adults. So I’m curious, what do you all spend a week?

80-100 for a family of 2 adults and 2 dc age 5 & 7

Longdistance · 06/04/2021 16:08

2 adults, 2 dc 9 and 11. Probably anything from £100-£120 a week including wine Blush is your ds in nappies still? Where do you shop usually?

HarleyQuinnn · 06/04/2021 16:10

About 90-120 family of 4, 2 DC, 9 and 5, and I'm coeliac, so that makes it a bit more pricey too.. especially as I love the warbourtons tiger bloomer that's almost £3.50 a bloody loaf!!!

LlamaDrama20 · 06/04/2021 16:10

£120 -£130 week. Two adult parents + currently 2 adult children (hungry young men).

gaggiagirl · 06/04/2021 16:13

2 adults and 3 DC aged 4,5 and 9. Around £120 a week.

Bml11 · 06/04/2021 16:14

@Longdistance - he is still in nappies but I don’t buy them with the shop. We shop at Tesco or Sainsbury’s but again because we are dairy free ( for sons sake as he has CMPA) I’m so limited to what I can buy, so
Things like fake cheese come at a higher price.

Approximately £100-£120 a week for 2 adults and 2 DCs (13 and 16). I shop at Aldi mainly which has made a big difference. I do a top up shop once a week at Sainsbury’s and if I only shopped there I would spend a lot more.

custardbear · 06/04/2021 16:16

About £200 per week including wine - two adults and two hungry children 9&12 plus two cats

feckinarse · 06/04/2021 16:17

50-60 at Aldi every week, 2 adults, 2 primary-aged children. Sometimes more, depending on whether we fall prey to the 'aisle of crap' (In fairness, that wok is going strong and REALLY high quality. But it was expensive.)

About once a month we'll do a bigger shop (80-90) when we restock laundry liquid, toilet paper, face cream, etc.

idontlikealdi · 06/04/2021 16:18

Around £200-£220 for two adults and two Nearly teens, dog food is ordered separately.

Ohnomoreno · 06/04/2021 16:18

I spend £180 for 2 adults and 3 DC (3,5,7). Excluding wine. Spendy spendy.

inmyslippers · 06/04/2021 16:18

£60pw one adult, one preschooler and a cat

eensyweensySpider · 06/04/2021 16:20

2 adults & 1 toddler. £100 ish on average I'd say (inc alcohol). Plus bits and bobs during the week, takeaway here and there. Nappies, toddler milk & wipes are separate as we bulk buy them.

MrsTophamHat · 06/04/2021 16:20

About £80 for two adults, a preschooler and a baby.

Peanut91 · 06/04/2021 16:21

I budget £100 per week for 2 adults, 2.5yr old and dog. This includes cleaning/hygiene products but not dog food and no alcohol. I struggle most weeks though. Food cost has massively shot up in the last year....before COVID we were spending £70-80 a week

JorisBonson · 06/04/2021 16:22

£80 a week, 2 adults (one permanently hungry man) and 2 cats. That includes a couple of bottles of wine and maybe a few beers.

Bml11 · 06/04/2021 16:23

You must have some good shit going on in your cupboards and fridge!

PascalHey · 06/04/2021 16:25

£200 easy a week. 2 adults, 6yo&4yo.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 06/04/2021 16:26

I try and get it in for less than £100 per week. 2 adults 2 kids (one of which eats more than me) and a newborn.

MummyJ12 · 06/04/2021 16:32

Around £300 a week at the moment. It sounds excessive compared to others on this thread so I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that we’re spending this much Blush we don’t waste anything either! We are a family of 2 adults, 2 kids (one 13 and one 8).

Flappityflippers1 · 06/04/2021 16:32

We spend no more than £350 a month, inc all cleaning, toiletries and pet supplies - we do:

Milkman £15 p/w (we are cow milk free, each week we get x4 oat milk glass bottles, vitalite, x12 eggs, koko yogurt, x2 whole meal bread)

Fruit and veg box delivery each week: £20 p/w

Pet supplies (x2 cats) £90 p/m

Aldi £85-£100 p/m for store cupboard essentials, cleaning, personal care and nappies

We are a family of 2 adults, a toddler, a newborn and 2 cats

Chunkymenrock · 06/04/2021 16:36

£120ish for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. That includes toiletries and laundry stuff. Is completely from Asda. Delivery once a week.

NamelessNinja · 06/04/2021 16:36

We spend £80-90 a week for two adults, 1 child and 1 weaning baby. Including nappies and toiletries, cleaning products etc. It has definitely gone up in last year despite not shopping any differently!

SavingsQuestions · 06/04/2021 16:37

£200?!?!?!?!?! Wow. I'm doing better than I thought. 2 a 2 c and aim to get under 120, ideally under 100.
