@ZetaPuppis, hope you're feeling a lot better now Flowers

unicornpoopoop · 05/01/2021 21:23

@Flowersblue there was a 3 part exam. It involved reading a 250 page guidelines first and you have about a week to do it all. Once you've passed you get given access. To start with it limits you to 3 hours a day. Once you've been on a while they lift this so it's still 20 hours max a week but you can do more on just a couple of days if you want to

Has anyone seen the email from AM** about reimbursement delay! This does not sound very good. We may get partial reimbursement on December invoice or not... and they have not yet validated all the receipts so we may still have some rejected?

Unicorn- Thankyou is it difficult to get a job with them?

Sallycinnamum · 06/01/2021 10:41

@Gatekeeper yes me too. It's a real pain because I find the old ratings system really tiresome. I think their communication has been a bit crap to be honest.

entrytohr · 06/01/2021 12:07

I passed potato! There was a glitch which lead to the delay in getting back to me, but I've just had confirmation that all's well! Very excited, hoping it might open the door to more regular side earnings. My goal in the next few months is to build to the point where my side bits can replace the DLA my son loses in September so that the stress of renewal is lessened!

entrytohr · 06/01/2021 12:28

Those earning £300+ on appen, can I please ask how many hours you're putting in? I'm presuming it relies on getting a regular project? My only projects on there so far were B*ne and it's connected one beginning with a W, then I got scared off after the invoicing issues. I've not been on since. Giving myself a kick up the bum and trying again, but wondering how to actually make it pay? It took me 3 months to reach enough in pay peer to withdraw it last time 😂

Flowersblue · 06/01/2021 13:18

Can anyone recommend a cv template that’s quick? Do you need to put a lot of info in for the jobs listed on the first page?

unicornpoopoop · 06/01/2021 13:36

@Flowersblue I found it fairly easy. You can have the guidelines open whilst you do the test so easy to quickly search through them to find what you need.

I was accepted into appen bane at the same time but only managed about 7 hours as the tasks kept going, whereas lionbridge releases tasks all throughout the day. I make anywhere between 350 and 750 a month on there. There aren't always tasks available when I'm available but I find it's much more consistent work than what I'd be getting elsewhere and now I know all the different tasks types I'm getting better and quicker at them. Eg some tasks take 10 mins but I'm done in just over 1 so I leave it running whilst I do something else until the timer is on 10. You also get feedback scores, and if you drop below a certain level, they either email you to give you advice on where you're going wrong or enroll you on the training programme.

felineflutter · 06/01/2021 13:43

I am so slow on Crisp making between £1 - £2 per hour!Confused Any tips greatly appreciated. I have a mouse...

ZetaPuppis · 06/01/2021 14:01

Thank you for all the messages. I feel a lot better now though it does take it out if you.

@mumofone2019 I hope you’re better too now.

Well done @entrytohr

@felineflutter just keep going and you’ll get used to it. I can’t go very fast because firstly, I tend to overthink things and secondly, I really don’t want to make any mistakes.
It wouldn’t matter what methods I used.
I know some people are whizzy at it but I’m sure you’ll get a lot faster.
Have you read all their info? There is a bit on speed.

Flowersblue · 06/01/2021 14:06

Thanks - Do you put in a good thorough cv for lionbridge?

Azerothi · 06/01/2021 14:10

@entrytohr
I make around 1k on Appen every month and have done for around a year. For that I work 20 hours a week every week on the same project. 20 hours a week is my project's limit, not my limit.

@felineflutter
Just persevere. It isn't going to get quicker very fast but I promise you it does get better :)

seizethecuttlefish · 06/01/2021 14:28

@entrytohr the secret on Appen is to get on a decent project. I haven't managed a consistent one yet but I have 5 hrs a week one. I'm hoping for work from other sources as I seem to be struggling to get invites for other projects. The ones I had the popped up a few hours a month have been really quiet for the last couple of months. If you see voice recording tasks, they're usually pretty easy.

I've not passed Potato or Appen but registered for Prolific and about to register for Lionbridge. Total newbie the registrations are intense! Am thinking 2 might be enough to focus on and get started. Do any of you get quite regular studies with Prolific? xx

Wolfff · 06/01/2021 15:03

@entrytohr

Re Appen. I am also on a 20 hour a week project (though I normally do less than that). Before that I was on an hour a day project. I would apply for anything on Appen you can realistically do.

Also apply for Crisp if you haven't already. I regularly dip into Clickworker and Prolific and I get Intellizoom surveys quite often.

I also work full time, or I could do more. I typically do between 10-20 hours a week depending on other commitments. I am cutting right back this month though.

Osquito · 06/01/2021 15:21

@felineflutter
It helps if you’re a quick reader, firstly. Other than that: I personally use my keyboard (left hand on keys to select/unselect or navigate up/down while right on touchpad button to submit).
You will speed up as you learn the options, which comes with more practice, but always watch out as they sometimes change the tree or add new bits on!

Sallycinnamum · 06/01/2021 16:36

I'm on an hour a day Appen project and two smaller ones and that is about my limit at the moment.

I'm really not sure I could commit to more as spending 8hrs on a screen in my regular job and another hour in the evening is about my limit!

It's just pot luck I think what project you get assigned to but from the Chat boards it would seen once you get one long term project you're more likely to get another. Not sure how true this is though!

Flowersblue · 06/01/2021 16:50

Does anyone keep know how you log in to Appen? It won’t let me

whysotriggered · 06/01/2021 17:00

@felineflutter - I started on potato last month and I'm definitely getting faster. I don't know if I will ever manage the giddy heights of £10 per hour though.
I am also afraid of making a mistake but I am trying to be more decisive and use unsure less. The downside of this is that I am now worried about one of the posts I moderated today and whether I made a mistake LOL.

unicornpoopoop · 06/01/2021 19:17

@Flowersblue I used my normal cv.
Not sure exactly what they're looking for but I suppose my job could of been beneficial as I work in web, marketing and seo

entrytohr · 06/01/2021 19:32

Thank you all for the advice re. Appen! I applied to everything I could do yesterday, but didn't know if I was missing a trick! Think b*ne and w#uri have made me more apprehensive about it as a system after the issues with them as they were my first "real" project! Will keep persevering and hope for the best! And get cracking with potato in the meantime now that I'm on!
