I haven't been on here for months so just catching up again. Just wanted to say how grateful I am for this thread, I started doing potato last year and was making around £200 a month, then last summer I started making things to sell on ebay and etsy which after a slow start suddenly took off and now I've just started doing Avon as well so if anyone would like a link to my Avon shop let me know Smile

Now I'm almost equaling my wage from my regular full job and should finally have my debts paid off in 3 months time all thanks to this thread!

ElectricEels · 16/01/2021 21:02

Also want to say how fab @Otterses is for starting the thread. I've been here for a year and a half and have managed to pay for ivf and not go back to work after having my baby

@Rad2016 poor you! I hope you don't feel too bad

Redcrayons · 16/01/2021 21:09

I can get 150 done in an hour, if I’m not waiting for content. Can’t imagine getting faster, 300 seems crazy amount. Without the new shift bonus, I’m not really clearing min wage most of the time. I don’t really like doing an hour at a time, I lose Concentration, slow down and start dithering.
I’ve earnt more on Appen, but I haven’t been accepted onto a job with them for ages. I probably need to give it more focus as I think I shouldn’t rely on just one thing.

@Catawaul I get paid straight into my bank account. Can’t see the point of it going into PayPal for me to withdraw to the bank.

Sallycinnamum · 17/01/2021 13:05

@Gatekeeper me too. No explanation as to why they cut so many hours off my Dec invoice.

I.joined the Appen FB page last week and it appears that it's happening to many raters and if they kick up a stink they get removed from the project.

whereismormonjesus · 17/01/2021 19:17

Has anybody passed the Pollock test for Appen. I’ve just failed and have one more attempt, I think. I’m trying to go through the guidelines but have DH and the DC pestering me.

whereismormonjesus · 17/01/2021 19:20

I already got banned from the Chelen project (first attempt was 34%, second attempt I was only one answer away from passing, third attempt was much less) after failing the 3 attempts at the qualification test...I feel like a right thicko

@Leftittoolate

I used your sign up link to start a trading 212 account & have deposited £1.

It doesn't look like I've received a free share, though? Is there normally a wait for that to come through?

WizardOfAus · 17/01/2021 19:43

@Leftittoolate... spoke too soon. Just had a notification through now to say it will be credited tomorrow. Thanks so much for the link!

For those finding potato isn't really worth much I was exactly the same for the first few months. I started in May and was so slow. December was my best month because I did so many NM2 shifts, I earned £600, I think about £80 of that was the shift bonus. I do read fast and honestly think the more you do it the better you get. You start to learn the trees and get better at understanding what the clients don't want to see. I average at about £9 an hour and haven't had any mistakes highlighted since late summer. I also recommend using the arrow keys to click and enter and not a mouse or touch pad.

redgirl1 · 18/01/2021 07:31

Morning all, I have a question for those of you using apen and potato. I’m really struggling this month to keep up with both. I like my nle project so want to keep that up and have prioritised this. A few mornings I have logged in early to potato and there is no content. I don’t think I’ll make up my minimum numbers at this rate.
I’d be happy to stick with ap*en instead but I know that project won’t last for long.
Is it possible potato might be forgiving to those not making min numbers this month, due to less content and no time (home schooling and day job).
Thanks for your advice.

Hi, just wondering if someone can explain how to get started with Crisp please? I've been on the site but I can't see for the life of me where to apply, am I being daft?

Sorry I've worked it out!
Wolfff · 18/01/2021 08:08

@shreddednips

The link to the test is here

Wolfff · 18/01/2021 08:12

@redgirl1

You can try contacting them. However it's only the 18th, why not aim for 100 a day. I sometimes do Crisp when watching TV. I find there is always content in the evenings especially.

CocoPrivileges · 18/01/2021 09:44

@whereismormonjesus good Iuck with it! I passed that one earlier this week but found it quite tough - have done other transcription tasks for Ap but the guidelines are different each time which doesn't help. The whole timestamps thing is new to me. I haven't done any work on it yet but worried that with so much to remember the hourly rate might be pretty low...

RaininSummer · 18/01/2021 10:57

Coco, I am unsure whether to work that one having passed the test as it does like it will be a very slow process at first.

CocoPrivileges · 18/01/2021 11:41

@RaininSummer agreed! Will be interested to see whether the rate is higher for P...the other project I've been doing pays just over 13c an item. Having said that if the other project dries up I might have no choice Sad

MyopiaUtopia · 18/01/2021 13:31

Anyone else not been paid for Crisp yet? Put my PayPal invoice in Friday

Wolfff · 18/01/2021 15:25

I haven’t had my invoice paid either.

furryous · 18/01/2021 15:28

@MyopiaUtopia @Wolfff It's only the first working day, and there are a lot of new people! Give em a chance Grin

seizethecuttlefish · 18/01/2021 15:48

Hi all

Anyone on the LB rater project? I've had no work and wondering if that's the norm.

I hate to be a negative Nelly but Potato over recruit and that means it's incredibly quiet at times. It's always been like that. I think if you joined late last year you maybe got a different view. It will get better as people drop off. This is the biggest recruitment I've seen. If it's working well and content coming through I can easily do £10-11 an hour. Once you get your eye in, it's easier. That said, it's all changed massively in the last few months with the NM shifts. Getting on the other shifts is the holy grail as that's a guaranteed hourly income but I'm well over a year at it and not a shift in sight.

Appen is dry as a desert for me. Very little there. And my first Am purchase this month arrived...the worst tasting chocolate ever. I am going to be using it for cooking lol.

@whereismormonjesus not sure if you've attempted poll* again yet, but if you do it again try searching the guidelines for keywords in the question, you should be able to find them in there.
Also chel** was ridiculous, I couldn't make anything of the test Grin
