@TeddyDidIt mine now says approved but no reimbursement on it. Hopefully it'll appear soon.

TheLolaMontez · 04/12/2020 13:39

Thanks everyone 😁 managed a good few hours on potato and with the shift bonus I think I'm on about £20 today so far

seizethecuttlefish · 04/12/2020 13:46

That's brilliant @TheLolaMontez. I can't do the shifts during the day and I'm desperate to get some hours in. Toddler had other ideas.

OP posts:
TheLolaMontez · 04/12/2020 13:48

Thankfully mine have been fairly good today, you never know what the day will be like though, of course!

peabrainer · 04/12/2020 14:06

Potato People: Anyone else hating the new push to timed slots with surges banned during that time? I find it hard to commit to the slots and love the flexibility of popping on whenever it suits me, ideally with a surge to help me along! Hope this isn't going to be permanent...
For those doing slots, do you find you work rate is a lot slower? Mine is definitely much worse...

Baby89 · 04/12/2020 14:14

Thanks everyone. I've passed the assessment what's the next step for am*r

YonderTweek · 04/12/2020 14:24

@Baby89 Well done! Does that mean you'll get your Ap account now too? Smile I think we'll just wait for an invitation email from them. Think the project starts on Monday so it should be Monday the latest? I'm not sure I'll get selected this time as I've just done it but I wouldn't mind doing it again.

Buster27 · 04/12/2020 14:35

@peabrainer It's not a permanent change, it's just because they have so much content at the moment (whereas surges are just to quickly clear a small backlog). I like the slots for getting me to commit to an hour but I also prefer surges for flexibility and better earning potential.

@Baby89 well done! You'll have missed the cutoff for the December round, but later in the month you should get an email asking you to complete the availability survey for the January round.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 04/12/2020 14:39

Those of you regularly doing Potato, say a couple of hours a day on average, how much do you find you are earning? I did a one hour session (not a shift, I just timed myself) and found it quite tiring, due to the concentration required. Would like to be making a few hundred a month to help me pay off a credit card, do you think that's doable? Thanks.

ZetaPuppis · 04/12/2020 14:43

Well done all you hard at work! I’m still trying to get myself on to something. I’ve got potato, LB and invited to do some stuff on Neevo but can’t motivate myself.
I’m aiming to do an hour on something today!

seizethecuttlefish · 04/12/2020 14:44

@tinkywinkyshandbag def doable. You get quicker. I tend to do shot bursts (unless I'm doing a shift). I like to be able to do 30mins and then take a break. I do 2hrs/day and 5 days a week. I average about £10-12 hr if the content is there and before surges. I can't do it watching tv etc as it slows me down and I make mistakes.

OP posts:
tinkywinkyshandbag · 04/12/2020 14:48

@seizethecuttlefish thank you that's reassuring, I can probably do an hour or so in the afternoons and then maybe an hour or so later in the day. Won't necessarily do two hours every day but glad to know that rate is achievable once I've got a bit more practice under my belt.

MrsWombat · 04/12/2020 14:55

I tend to do a 15 min burst on Crisp, but did a full hour shift today and was fulling asleep towards the end. Blush I don't think I'll do them very often as I am more efficient doing 4 x 15 mins than 1 x 60 mins. A few hundred is definitely doable once you've speeded up, although you would probably have to be on there a lot and catch all the surges.

Baby89 · 04/12/2020 15:07

Thank you @YonderTweek and @Buster27 do I just wait for an email or do I check my account hoping this is the start of appen giving me projects finally.

peabrainer · 04/12/2020 16:41

@Buster27
@tinkywinkyshandbag
@MrsWombat

Thanks @Buster27, hope it's not long.
@tinkywinkyshandbag yes I agree definitely do-able. But like @MrsWombat I find I'm much more effective doing 15 minutes at a time rather than an hour. I slow down and make mistakes. Which is why the surges are such a good motivator.

ZetaPuppis · 04/12/2020 16:43

What is a reasonable amount to do on a timed slot for potato?
I’m a bit slow, being an over thinker.

MyopiaUtopia · 04/12/2020 18:44

I've done about 250 for an hours shift on Potato. I think i went a bit slower than I do sometimes though, no idea how this compares to anyone else?!

Redcrayons · 04/12/2020 19:06

I get about 150 in an hour, assuming content is there. I probably overthink, tbh I prefer to stick to 45 minute bursts as I start to loose concentration.

I don’t love the new system, though I imagine it’s because people like me were only logging on for the surges and the queues weren’t going down. Haven’t managed to pick any up yet, hopefully I can get a couple in this weekend.

I notice there’s some new clients in there, so hopefully big queues are here to stay.

lilmishap · 04/12/2020 20:06

Just finished my first hour slot on pots and I'm ready for my bed now. It's madness I happily rack up a couple hours a day in 15-20 minute bursts but a full hours just done me in.

YonderTweek · 04/12/2020 20:18

@Baby89

Thank you *@YonderTweek and @Buster27* do I just wait for an email or do I check my account hoping this is the start of appen giving me projects finally.
When I qualified for my first project I immediately got an email saying I need to log into my account to do the final bits of paperwork. You should get further emails from them after that, but there's no harm in checking out All Projects to see if you can start applying for other stuff now.
rhij86 · 04/12/2020 20:48

A quesyion about A*ur - I've been accepted but thinking I prob don't have the funds to front it in Dec - if I don't take part in Dec will I get kicked off or can I just start in Jan?

Baby89 · 04/12/2020 21:43

Thank you @YonderTweek I'm hoping to qualify now I'm on board

ruralwanderer · 04/12/2020 22:07

@rhij86, did you respond to the availability survey for December and say you could do it? If not you're fine, if you did and you get an invite with a link to participate in this round but aren't able to, I'd probably message them to let them know rather than just not doing it. Hope this helps 😊

TheLolaMontez · 05/12/2020 08:26

Morning all, I have some free shares available on Freetrade if anyone is interested? You deposit £1 and we both get a free share - let me know if you'd like it as I think I might have to PM the invitation, it doesn't seem to give me a link Smile

Hi guys,

Just discovered this thread. May I ask how it works with tax? Do you have to do self assessment?
