@YonderTweek yes that's the one! I can;t even see the chat etc now, I have been totally removed.

I've not had much luck with Appen this year, last year was great so hoping next year will get some good projects again.

MoreMoneyPlease · 12/12/2020 16:59

@anxiouswaiting I had the same email today too, and I never got the access info either. They seem to be pretty bad at replying to any pleas for help.

Tattiespuds · 12/12/2020 17:18

@entrytohr defo take potato. It's work that is pretty always available. Just log in when you want to earn.it is a bit boring but very easy and convenient.

WotsitWiggle · 12/12/2020 19:01

@LimeJellyforBrains my first A* was terrible, all tat from China. Gave a couple of bits away, the rest went in the bin.

This time was better - can use about 2/3 for us or as gifts (apart from a door knob too!) - so I'd recommend a second go as long as you have a large enough float as the reimbursement from round one arrived after I'd paid out for round two.

MrsWombat · 12/12/2020 19:23

@entrytohr Definitely take Crisp. Look at the minimum amounts and just do that on your busy months and do more during your quieter times. It's very regular in that there will always be work as even during quieter times there is plenty of content over night even if it's dead during the day. At the moment though it's really busy which is why they are bringing more people in. It's fab to compliment other self-employment projects with. Smile

Talking of other self employment projects I've just sold my first adult (grown-up not rude) colouring book on KDP with a grand profit of £2.79. I just need another 150 of those sold a month please and thank you. Grin

entrytohr · 12/12/2020 19:43

Brilliant thank you! I've been horrendously busy over end of October, November and December, but if it's constantly there it sounds useful for the other 9 months of the year! I think that was my issue with appen, the projects I was on had such limited batches that you needed to jump immediately (I was on b*ne and the other one that was similar about food) so I always missed the work and ended up with no earnings!

3dogdnorth · 12/12/2020 21:12

Thanks everyone for your advice on potato. I'm going to give it a go. Is there a minimum time commitment? Is there a fixed term or is it open ended?

seizethecuttlefish · 12/12/2020 21:22

@3dogdnorth potato is definitely the place to be at the moment. You need to log on and work at least every 3 weeks and moderate 1000 items a month. That's about £40. I log on as and when I can and do small bursts.

@entrytohr well done. I have no creative bones in my body so I'm very impressed!

@LimeJellyforBrains I think it's a bit hit and miss. My last one was all no returnable and I was a bit meh about it. This ones been better. I do like the excitement of it though Shock

I'm missing all the Ap projects that used to pop up for a few hours a month. Hoping more appear. I have no luck getting on the current ones for searches. I'm waiting on a few but a nice wee regular one would be bliss.

Good month so far though, I'm trying to maximise this month as next month I'm out of commission for a couple of weeks.

LimeJellyforBrains · 12/12/2020 22:28

@WotsitWiggle @seizethecuttlefish Yes, I definitely love the excitement when you hit Submit then scroll up to see what your next item is! Grin Will definitely do it again if I get offered it.

@MrsWombat Congratulations on your sale - first of many I hope! and @entrytohr Jolly well done to you too, that's amazing! What kind of crafts do you do, or do you sell craft supplies?

Thank you :) I do vinyl, engraving and sublimation. Not cheap to start but the equipment's more than paid for itself! Admittedly its all more computer design than traditional crafting which I already had experience in

tinyradish · 13/12/2020 11:52

Finally have proper access to fo***r so as there's nothing else going on I'll reread the guidelines & give that a crack this evening. Anyone else work this project & if so, how do you find it?

RaininSummer · 13/12/2020 11:56

Re Amu*, does anybody know when we fill in tax returns, if we have to log the reimbursement money as now a bit concerned about getting taxed 20 percent on that part?

miracleatchristmas · 13/12/2020 12:06

Hi all - as a COMPLETE newbie to surveys / making money online - can anybody help point me in the right direction? I don't know where to begin! 😩

whysotriggered · 13/12/2020 12:19

@RaininSummer Personally I think reimbursements would not be included in your tax return as this is not earned money, they are simply paying back your expenses.

LimeJellyforBrains · 13/12/2020 12:27

@entrytohr I had no idea what sublimation was (apart from in a religious sense?) so Googled! Grin Amazingly good that the equipment has already paid for itself. I think prints seem to be a very buoyant market, from what I have seen on Instagram!

@tinyradish I started doing Fo***r a few weeks ago. The Eng one. Had some dreadful quality audio to start with but some better ones more recently. Don't forget you can skip any and not get penalised for it. Still only earning about £5-6 ph I reckon, but better than a poke in the eye etc as I earn it sitting on my sofa and actually quite enjoy most of it. My accuracy isn't quite what they ask for but they haven't booted me off yet! Happy to answer any questions you have if I can.

tinyradish · 13/12/2020 12:31

Thank you @LimeJellyforBrains I appreciate that. Will see how it goes later. Not expecting it to be great money at the start, like you say, but hopefully with experience that improves! It better than nothing hey.

LimeJellyforBrains · 13/12/2020 12:49

@tinyradish Just starting my 4th week doing it and have gone from 34 items ph to 60 ph yesterday. I can't ever see myself doing the 90-100 ph they reckon is possible to make it a decent hourly rate, but I'm not currently in a position to turn down £50 pw, however long it takes me! It's great that you can just work as much as you want, when you want, as long as you do the weekly min of items. As I get faster I'm hoping to do over the minimum and so earn more.

If anyone else hasn't applied for this one on Ap**, I would recommend it as they seem to be recruiting atm. I applied ages ago and have just recently got on.

orchidsonabudget · 13/12/2020 13:06

Hi
I saw this on a Facebook group I'm in and thought it might be interesting - there are amazon vouchers up for grabs in return for research, I'm going to sign up.

Are you a parent of a child aged 3-6 and have a touch-screen device at home? If, so MAMA.codes would love to speak to you!

We're designing a brand new coding app called Looparoo, created just for children. It will help to promote their independent learning through a fun and engaging set of coding challenges and adventures.

We need your help to design the best possible app!

There are two ways to share your views with us:
1 Share your thoughts with us on educational apps by filling out a short survey. All survey respondents will be entered in our prize draw to win an iPad and be given a MAMAcodes voucher.
Click on the link below to fill out the survey now!
mama-codes.typeform.com/to/p47NyyBN

2 We’d love to speak to some of you about what you think about education apps and how your child uses them. We know it’s busy in the run up to Christmas but our interviews won’t take long, (approx 40 minutes) over Zoom and as a thank you, every participant will receive Amazon gift vouchers and will also be entered into the draw to WIN AN IPAD!!
To join our select panel of interviewees: please let us know your availability here:

whysotriggered · 13/12/2020 13:56

To fellow fried potato newbies, how are you getting on? Did my 4th day today (only half hour each day) and am still very slow, press unsure too often and have a feeling I am messing it up! Oh, and I am too scared to try monitoring queue.........

But I did feel that way about my Ap project and still going after a year so hoping this will turn out the same.

HarrietHairbrush · 13/12/2020 14:01

Orchids - thanks that is super helpful -I will sign up

miracleatchristmas · 13/12/2020 14:11

Can someone explain what this potato thing is 🤣

MrsWombat · 13/12/2020 14:47

@entrytohr Ooooh Iovely. I joined a facebook group for a local person who is doing personalised vinyl stuff (to be nosy and to see if there was anything popular I could use for my t-shirts and books Blush ) and she seems to be very busy but also dealing with a lot of very difficult customers who want everything cheap and yesterday. I hope you are not getting any grief and are selling on Etsy and Ebay to people who appreciate you.

I agree with needing to invest. I have spent some money in the black Friday sale on a Creative Fabrica subscription (which I will use for book covers, colouring book pages and t-shirt graphics) and some software which makes diaries/planners and puzzles for the inside of KDP books. I have already managed to scrap enough from November and December sales from things I listed previously which has covered the cost so just need to start listing more stuff now and start making money.

seizethecuttlefish · 13/12/2020 14:54

@miracleatchristmas I've linked a thread with working links at the start. Potato is crisp. There's a few of us working Appen too. First step is registering with sites. It does sometimes take a while to get started and start earning. Ask away and I'm sure they'll be someone here that can help you.

Can I be cheeky and ask which software please? I use creative fabrica too as well as design bundles. I've got my own website up and running, make nothing before payment and don't engage in discussion about prices, they either pay what's asked or go elsewhere Wink

MrsWombat · 13/12/2020 16:01

@entrytohr gumroad.com/bowespublishing I bought the bundle he now has listed as £3000 not for sale. He had it on sale for £60. He's got lots of free stuff though on there so take a look. You will need powerpoint.
