GachaBread · 11/12/2020 20:28

@CrepuscularCritter u can sell to me if a decent game lol

GachaBread · 11/12/2020 20:31

@seizethecuttlefish hey hun sent u a dm the other day, did u receive?

YonderTweek · 11/12/2020 21:19

Haha. For some reason I was not expecting full on cheeky fuckery. I thought there might be the odd missing product from China etc but I didn't think people would try to rip me off. I don't know why because I'm usually quite suspicious of online stores in general and don't trust anyone. But I guess this is kind of the point of this project, and I have enjoyed writing my review. Grin

Now off to sample my two huge bottles of Veet. Grin Don't suppose anyone wants a bottle?

ElectricEels · 11/12/2020 21:20

@YonderTweek love Veet! Don't leave it on too long though Shock

Tinging · 11/12/2020 21:27

Is anyone doing truc**e oops? I started today but the guidance is very vague and I’m not sure my comments are enough? It’s not supposed to be personal but about how people in general would feel about the ad. Do they give feedback or tell you if you aren’t giving them what they need?

CrepuscularCritter · 11/12/2020 22:13

TBH I wouldn't mind playing it @GatchaBread, although I'm more into strategy games normally. No PS4 though...

Tohaveandtohold · 11/12/2020 22:22

Like previous posters, I just received the potato invite too. I did the first test in March 2019 when I was on maternity leave and had all the time in the world to commit to it. So busy with my day job atm that I’m just hoping I can squeeze in 5 hours or so a week because I love it’s long term nature. I hope it’s worth it in the end though.

Tattiespuds · 11/12/2020 22:32

@3dogdnorth and those joining potato, i'd say go for it. I finally got on end of Oct and a started off doing at least an hr a day then mid - end Nov tailed off started back almost daily and last couple of days im averaging £9ph hour with shifts and surges and still picking up speed. I see it as it money i wouldn't normally earn. I'm expecting by end of Dec to have around £300 to be paid in Jan.

Ppl on potato anyone been taking the files?? if so how long are you taking to complete. Says should take 1.5 - 2hrs but i finished in just over an hr. not worried i did it wrong (somehow)

i'm not on AM*R but keep applying so hopefully one day i will be. see if you return a item and get a refund do you also get to claim the price. so like make that money?

Mancbee · 11/12/2020 23:35

@Tinging I am, I've been doing it for about 2 months and I've had no feedback at all. It takes me longer than the 2 mins because I probably waffle too much Grin I've never seen an example so I have no idea if I need to write as much as i actually do but I reckon too much has got to be better than not enough.

GachaBread · 12/12/2020 04:58

@CrepuscularCritter thanks anyway. I'm just on the hunt for bargains. It tortures my soul to spend £50 plus on a game .

GachaBread · 12/12/2020 06:38

It's obvious seize u have a problem with me but take care anyway, no hard feelings

TheSilentStars · 12/12/2020 06:45

Definitely take Potato.
I've been doing it since early this year and had one message as a result of an audit saying I should have flagged it as one thing instead of another.
Tbh, if I can't work out straightaway what it is, I just refresh the page and don't sweat over it. Life's too short.

ElectricEels · 12/12/2020 07:06

@TheSilentStars don't refresh the page if you don't know it! You have to press unsure. Otherwise it goes to the back of the queue and won't be dealt with in the time limits that they set to the client.

Tinging · 12/12/2020 07:51

Thanks @Mancbee, I’m not sure if I’m putting enough justification for my ratings but it already feels like I’m waffling! I really wish they would put a couple of examples in the guidance. I’m mentioning things like the style/appearance/professionalism of the ad, misleading/accuracy/confusing aspects, whether it’s enjoyable to watch and then the size of the likely audience and how niche it is. So a pregnancy workout app might be good but unlikely to have wide appeal to users for example. Are these they same kind of things you cover?

TheSilentStars · 12/12/2020 09:52

Oooh, ok. Didn't realise! Thank you!

seizethecuttlefish · 12/12/2020 10:37

@GachaBread I don't have a problem with you. I never got a message and I replied to tell you that. Hope you're ok?

GachaBread · 12/12/2020 10:44

Must have wires crossed. I replied to your message twice and never got a reply, must have spelt your name incorrectly or something like that. Sorry x

@Tinging that's exactly what I'm doing, it's a relief to know we've both worked it out the same wayGrin

Tinging · 12/12/2020 13:42

@Mancbee ah brill, I’m so glad we are doing the same thing, I was worried I had completely misinterpreted it all! Thanks 😊

anxiouswaiting · 12/12/2020 15:21

I'm annoyed with Appen today. Been kicked off a project for not being active despite them never sending me the details I needed to access the tool, I've been asking for months and keep getting told it will be sent and it never is! Angry

Great run with Am** last night though. Have a few bits of crap coming but also a nice coat, t-shirt for hubby (think it will be a knock off though), some expensive lipsticks, a hoodie, some drinks and a couple of others bits that I was looking to buy anyway because several of my ads took me to a site rather than a specific product so I got to choose what I wanted.

YonderTweek · 12/12/2020 15:51

@anxiouswaiting Oh no. Is it K? I've seen so many people being messed around with tool access and the PMs aren't great at replying to tickets. Literally half of the chat is people trying to get access. This happened to me last week when I was removed from another project for "inactivity" even though I had access issues (not my fault) and I was promised they would keep me on until they had been sorted. Never mind and on to the next one eh?

I've received more scammy stuff from A€€r. I ended up looking up all of the companies I've used and most seem suspicious. Social media is full of scamming accusations for pretty much all of the shops I've used this time round so it'll be interesting to see what I actually get. Grin

LimeJellyforBrains · 12/12/2020 15:52

Well I ended up a bit disappointed with my first Am** run. 5 out of my 15 ads I had to skip as they were gone, don't deliver to my area, were a service or a subscription.

I bought a hoodie and a £2 phone case (both from China), a lamp/phone charger, men's body wash, recyclable toothbrush heads, a cloth tote bag, an expensive door knob, some painkillers and magnetic eyelashes.

Big disappointment that the most expensive item at £42 (much reduced) was to be a denim jacket from a well-known male clothing brand. DS2 was excited about it. But the next day they cancelled my order, saying it was unavailable Sad.

I may be able to sell or gift the lamp (think our phones are probably all too old/cheap to do wireless charging) and the eyelashes. Not sure what to do about the gorgeous brass door knob (I think a few of us got these!). Everything else we can probably make use of.

I would definitely do it again if offered the chance though, as it was fun if not very profitable, especially for the amount of time it's taken me!

entrytohr · 12/12/2020 16:47

I was on these posts a few months ago, opened a craft business and haven't had time since (taken £1030 this month so far alone) Just got my email from the potato people though so I'm about to jump back in! Over a year to get the email so I'm not wasting the opportunity and I can see my sales dropping in January so any extra would help!

I've never had much success with appen, do people still find potato more viable on a regular basis? I gave up on appen after 3 months where I hadn't even earned enough to withdraw from payoneer!
