@MrsWombat Wohooo for you Grin Grin It feels good, doesn't it? I've just had a hideous couple of hours on UTest. I couldn't get my tech to work with the thing I was trying to capture and had to redo a video about fifteen million 8 times. It made me remember that I hated the cycle I'm doing the last time, so I am going to start keeping a 'don't accept' list.

If anyone is still looking for a trading212 referral I've got one here:

MynameisJune · 19/02/2020 15:34

@Lougle is Utest just applying for projects and waiting to see if you hear anything? How long did it take you to start getting work? There doesn't seem to be a lot of stuff for the UK.

flirtingwith40 · 19/02/2020 15:48

Hey, Anyone still waiting on crisp payment?

0htooooodles · 19/02/2020 15:53

@flirtingwith40 Yep! Waiting on bank payment still

flirtingwith40 · 19/02/2020 15:57

@0htooooodles ahhh man. Kind of glad it's not just me, but hope we both get it soon.
Mine was pp.

SNISR · 19/02/2020 15:59

@rhij86 I also passed tig** on appen. Can't wait for the tool to come through. I was on the chat and someone who passed a month ago still hasn't received the tool though.

I would like to offer a clean service on fiverr... just thinking what to do.

teaandcake19 · 19/02/2020 16:01

Just thought of something else I do - icelolly searches on Quidco and Topcashback - 50p a day for nothing..

I used to do them on my ex-h's account. I think this may be what miss most about him!

rhij86 · 19/02/2020 16:16

@SNISR yes I saw that too - hopefully we have more luck!! Congrats :)

SNISR · 19/02/2020 16:28

@teaandcake19 so you go to the ice lolly website via Quidco and top cashback and earn the cashback for just browsing?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 19/02/2020 16:34

I've not made any ££ yet but quite new to this, work ft so wanting to top up low income but don't have loads of free hours. I'm putting feelers out (though still not got 19/20 on Crisp 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Anyone got good tips to keep all the different income streams organised? It's just all in my head atm. Eg retake crisp (AGAIN), appen registered, cloud workers registered, etc

It may all go tits up.

GachaBread · 19/02/2020 16:42

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully

  1. Set up a separate email address for all the different companies you sign up for
  2. Keep a spreadsheet or Keep a section in notes on your mobile on what you have applied for, when you applied and how much you make from each one month by month.

Lougle · 19/02/2020 17:21

@MynameisJune no. UTest works a bit differently. You set up an account and fill in a profile. That gives the Test Team Leads (TTLs) and Test Engineers (TEs) an idea of who is suitable for their Test Cycles.

A Test Cycle is the overall project. Each Test Cycle can have a variety of features - sometimes it is just exploratory testing, so do what you can to find bugs anywhere, sometimes there is a specific focus to the test 'please test x, y, z...' and other times there are 'test cases' where you get given a step by step set of instructions and you pass or fail the result as you go - you get paid for the test case itself, but if anything 'fails' then you report that and if you are the first person who found that issue you get paid for that, too - nice!

You might think that there is no way you could find a bug quickly enough, but there are lots of testers all with slightly different devices, different operating systems and different brains! You might find an issue on your phone that hasn't caused a problem at all for other people.

At first, you are 'unrated' - it's very hard to get paid jobs when you are unrated. However, if you join the academy and then sign up for their UNPAID test cycles, the bugs you find in those cycles count towards your rating. Once you are 'rated' (the ranks go unrated, rated, proven, bronze, silver and gold) you start to be invited to paid test cycles.

It all works by invitation, but generally the cycle is going as soon as you agree to it -occasionally you are told 'sign up but we'll put it in pending until the software is ready', but even then, you are guaranteed your place in the cycle.

I have far more jobs offered to me now than I can take. I have 9 active cycles right now, which is ok because some of them were 'do this one task....' so they're finished with even though the cycle won't end for some time. Also, some are copies of each other but for android vs iOS. Even then, you can find bugs on one that don't appear on the other.

MynameisJune · 19/02/2020 17:28

@Lougle oh that’s weird, I’ve signed up and filled out a profile, can see the academy but have got a list of projects to apply for. I’m rated unproven at the minute so it sounds like the same website but mine doesn’t seem to work the same as yours. It’s asked me all about my devices and stuff.

TheLolaMontez · 19/02/2020 17:31

Urgh, not had a good money making day today - cloudworkers is so slow, I've managed to send 46 messages in 1.5 hours Hmm it keeps saying "only few sessions open" I've never known it as quiet as this...

Nothing on prolific today.
I am too traumatised from last night to even think about Fiverr 😂

Not been on UHRS yet but I'm presuming all the adult ones are gone for now and I don't like the look of some of the available ones. I've tried to do them before through App*n and I couldn't get my head around some of them at all! Will have to mark today up as a slow one, I think.

Lougle · 19/02/2020 17:33

Ahh yes, the projects are separate - they are special requirement projects where they are finding it hard to find testers that meet the requirement, so they advertise it. If you can find any you fit, apply. But the vast majority of projects are not advertised, they just invite testers.

MynameisJune · 19/02/2020 17:58

@Lougle thanks. So I just wait to be invited? I’m going to work through the academy tonight once I’ve done some paid work on Crisp.

seizethecuttlefish · 19/02/2020 17:58

Evening all, got my feedback from my first batch on Appen M**w project and the results weren't great. Not sure if I want to keep going as I'm not sure I'm making any money 🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyone else doing transcription and can give me a bit of positive feedback? I did a test for Neevo yesterday which I passed but there's no work. I really need to get myself organised. I feel like I'm doing loads for not a lot.

teaandcake19 · 19/02/2020 18:34

@SNISR That's it - on quidco you can get 30p per day and 20p per day on topcashback.

Check back after 20 mins or so and you'll find it's tracked - I've been doing it for a year or so, sometimes the number you can do per day changes..it used to be 3 searches on topcashback..

MrsWombat · 19/02/2020 19:24

@MynameisJune Yes you wait to be invited. They have a wacky algorithm so I think if you log on every day that bumps you up the queue for being invited for something. I'm a couple of weeks in and most of the projects I've been invited to are websites aimed at women (retail etc) or UK people so they are recruiting from a smaller pool.

@seizethecuttlefish Mine wasn't great either but I've been invited to do a second batch. I'm going to persevere until my non-transcribing project starts, if it ever starts.

SNISR · 19/02/2020 19:25

@teaandcake19 I've done it and yes it's tracked! That's an extra £182.50 a year for a few mins work! Thank you for that! 😃

Lougle · 19/02/2020 19:59

Yes. Once you sign up for academy test cycles (Course 5 onwards have them) then you get invitation to the mock cycles on either a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. I was invited on Mondays, but I don't know what the algorithm is. You participate alongside other testers and try to report bugs. However, unlike 'real' cycles, you can't see other people's bugs, only how many they have reported. In 'real' cycles you can see other people's bugs and either recreate them yourself (you get a slight rating boost for showing that the bug exists for other people too) or test a slightly different angle and see if you can find a different bug.

BertieBotts · 19/02/2020 20:32

Transcription from memory takes a while to get faster at. You will generally make shit money at the start because of this, but you will get faster the more you do it. So it's whether you decide to stick at it with this in mind or go for something you are making more on straight away.

BertieBotts · 19/02/2020 20:39

I did an academy challenge invite last night but forgot it was Wednesday today, oops :o I was thinking I'd get the invite for next week!

I might get to do that tomorrow, anyway.
