Just that really, do you work part time or full time and what do you get paid for your job? Do you think it’s enough? Worth it? Etc

I’m currently working 36-40 hours a week for just over 1700 a month and I feel like it’s crap pay!? Just wondered how others felt and what position they were in.
If you don’t want to answer then don’t...just move on. It’s an anonymous forum so it’s no biggie!! ( also I have NC’d so not a troll)

120k or so for a 40 hour week.

Skyejuly · 30/01/2020 07:50

I do 8 hours private care for 15ph and 20hrs in a care home for 8.55 per hour. It keeps me just about afloat.

Skyejuly · 30/01/2020 07:51

Almost every job here is minimum wage.

StormBaby · 30/01/2020 07:54

I've just taken a pay cut into a new sector, but it's one with higher paid roles in the end. Its all part of the five year plan(I've moved from basic Admin to Logistics) Take home £1500 a month.

I'm in Australia so probably not comparable due to the conversion rate and living expenses etc.
I do 5 x 5 hour shifts (school hours) so 25 hours a week. I earn $42.50 an hour, so about $55000 gross per annum

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/01/2020 08:09

I work 6 hours a week (and probably another 6 hours at home as I'm a teacher so all my planning etc is done) - I'm hourly paid, term time only, but I get £28 per hour.

My wage is boosted by the fact I have no childcare costs and am beneath the tax and NI threshold.

Next year I would like another 4-6 hours a week once Ds is in full time school but considering this is my first job in 4 years after being a sahm I was pleased to start off small and build up.

alliejay81 · 30/01/2020 09:17

£50k as a 0.8wte. I should work 30 hours but I normally work a good chunk more than that. Hard to find a decent wage / part time job where you just do your hours though!

MarieBaroneIsMyMom · 30/01/2020 15:42

@netstaller I manage really big change projects. My background is project management, HR, and change management so usually take on projects involving large employee bases- like the amalgamation of two large companies and looking at how new processes need to work and be communicated and measured for effectiveness.

It’s quite interesting.

Kyriesmum1 · 30/01/2020 16:20

@MyBlueMoonbeam why is that smart?? That's what I earn!!

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 30/01/2020 19:09

24 hours a week, 39 weeks a year earn around £12k pa. 22 years ago I was a higher rate taxpayer working 35 hours per week for 47 weeks per year. Loved the old job stopped work for 15 years, loved that too but I love my current job (and hours) a great deal. I know the pay is rubbish but that’s the public sector for you....

Panicovereveryone · 30/01/2020 21:26

@MarieBaroneIsMyMom that’s what my DH does. Sounds like his job description!

Namechange8471 · 30/01/2020 21:28

18 a week around £900 a month

Racheyg · 30/01/2020 21:29

Between 20-22 hours a week. I take home after tax, ni and pension about £1700 a month

Strictly1972 · 30/01/2020 21:35

My work is quite flexible & currently I work approx 36hpw condensed over 3.5 days and earn approx £1300- £1500 per month. It really varies though. I do have the option to take on more work but I’m fortunate enough not to have to at the moment. In addition my job enables me to not have to pay any childcare which I’ve worked out to be a saving of approx £100 per week which is quite significant & More in school hols. Some might think it’s not a lot for the work I do but it works for us & is a good balance.

Tellingitlikeitisnt · 30/01/2020 21:38

I get £22 per hour and less for overnight or weekends on call
I am a doctor

MarieBaroneIsMyMom · 30/01/2020 22:10

@Panicovereveryone Does he like it? What industry is he in? I’m engineering.

(Also- any chance you’d tell me what his salary is? It’s a hard job to benchmark as it’s quite niche).

NickMyLipple · 30/01/2020 22:14

24 hours a week for £4420 a month as an agency nurse with a guaranteed package. I can work more hours if I want (or less!) I just give monthly availability.

Whoopsmahoot · 30/01/2020 22:25

18 hrs and take home £1100 net. Get 8 weeks holiday a year and company puts in a decent amount to a pension above that. Could b worse but underpaid for skill and experience level.

Tellingitlikeitisnt · 30/01/2020 22:48

@NickMyLipple you are getting double me!

NickMyLipple · 30/01/2020 22:53

@tellingitlikeitis it's a notoriously well-paying agency... I earn £46/hour but can also get £300+ bonuses for last minute shifts. Travel is also paid. Also accommodation and expenses if a bit too far away for my liking! Bank holidays are double pay!

Littleshortcake · 30/01/2020 22:56

I work 12 - 18 hours per week (38 weeks of the year with paid holidays)
I earn 500 a week and have a decent pension.

Panicovereveryone · 31/01/2020 19:43

@MarieBaroneIsMyMom he was IT, telcos. He used to drop in to run a portfolio and then exit so worked a day rate of 850 - 1000. He’s just taken a perm role though £130 + benefits. That’s a full week though so same ball park.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 31/01/2020 19:54

I earn on average £6 an hour. Work 55 hours a week. God that's sad. I've never worked it out like that before.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 31/01/2020 20:04

That hourly average can go up and down but my hours generally stay the same.

RuthW · 31/01/2020 20:06

37 hours per week. Take home approx £1400 per month. I consider that a not bad wage.
