Just that really, do you work part time or full time and what do you get paid for your job? Do you think it’s enough? Worth it? Etc

I’m currently working 36-40 hours a week for just over 1700 a month and I feel like it’s crap pay!? Just wondered how others felt and what position they were in.
If you don’t want to answer then don’t...just move on. It’s an anonymous forum so it’s no biggie!! ( also I have NC’d so not a troll)

self employed, average of 16 hrs/week over the year so some weeks nothing if on holiday most I do is 4 full days, £55 an hour

Kaykay066 · 29/01/2020 21:51

Paeds nurse work 18.75 a week hours take home 1200 a month inc antisocial hours don’t do overtime/bank as no childcare.

KindKylie · 29/01/2020 21:51

I'm 0.9 wte across 2 related public sector jobs - I take home around £1800-1900 per month depending on shift allowances. We have huge childcare bills and travel/parking costs and it never goes very far.

I've got 'long service' leave arrangements of 8 paid weeks per year too though which helps me feel a bit better about how i will never earn much more despite all my qualifications, skills and experience.

VisionQuest · 29/01/2020 21:53

I do 24 hours a week for £1500 pcm

Kyriesmum1 · 29/01/2020 21:53

I'm on 98p an hour and I work 24 hours a day, seven days a week!

Psychologika · 29/01/2020 21:55

30h, 3k per month

DesLynamsMoustache · 29/01/2020 21:58

I work part-time from home around DD's schedule as I have my own business. I probably work 18-20 hours a week and earn around £1600 a month, but it can fluctuate. If I take on too much then I can earn almost double but am run ragged so I try not to. My work is entirely flexible so it works well for fitting around naps and sleep!

Fiddlersgreen · 29/01/2020 22:00

35 hours a week. £1327 before deductions

Mummymummums · 29/01/2020 22:04

Probably around 20 hours a week. Gross self employed income usually upwards of £6k a month. I know I'm in a very fortunate position and it wasn't always like this even after getting all my qualifications but this new higher income is a game changer for us. As a family we pay £300 a month for income protection now as we're both self employed but it doesn't insure the full income.

Wineloffa · 29/01/2020 22:05

25 hours a week and I get paid £1400 net per month. My hours work around school hours so we don’t have to pay childcare. During school holidays we use our annual leave and/or DH works from home (our kids are 10 and 14).

MyBlueMoonbeam · 29/01/2020 22:08

I'm on 98p an hour and I work 24 hours a day, seven days a week!

Oh aren't we smart 🙄

pineapple2 · 29/01/2020 22:09

30 hours a week...£1,650 per month take home

Groovee · 29/01/2020 22:11

Work 19.5 hours over 3 days. Earn £11.44 an hour.

I was doing a similar role for 16 hours over 5 days at a lower rate and got about £540 a month.

MondeoFan · 29/01/2020 22:11

24-28 hours week take home £2,000 per month.
Mid 40s though, it's taken me a long time to get this money for part time hours

NothingIsWrong · 29/01/2020 22:13

30 hours a week, annual salary is £38k, I take home about £2100 after pension and childcare vouchers

MarieBaroneIsMyMom · 29/01/2020 22:24

35 hours a week and I gross just under £9k a month. Also have a very generous pension scheme and sick benefits. I’m incredibly lucky and often can’t believe that I’m paid so much for a job that, while I love it, or doesn’t save lives or cure sick puppies.

I know for a fact that I don’t work harder than maybe 75% of those on this thread.

PanicAndRun · 29/01/2020 22:55

Officially 30h a week, take home 956, however I go in at 8 and leave at 3.

netstaller · 30/01/2020 07:28

@MarieBaroneIsMyMom out of interest what type of job is it that you do? Looking to change careers so after some inspiration!

happycamper11 · 30/01/2020 07:28

I work 25 hours for around 800 pm (it's actually technically slightly more but it's term time so paid for 46 weeks but split over a full 12 months)

It's nowhere near enough. It's a school in an area of high deprivation with lots of children with ASN or behavioural problems. One of us gets hurt in some way most days.

VideographybyLouBloom · 30/01/2020 07:29

24 hours a week (over 3 days) for £30,000 a year. I work in HE in London.

shortytrekker · 30/01/2020 07:30

12 hrs a week for around £550 a month

PontiacBandit · 30/01/2020 07:34

26hrs take home £1350

SlothHouse · 30/01/2020 07:35

20 hours average per week self employed, so £800ish per month.

No benefits and the job is piss easy with low stress and flexibility. I keep all money (for private pension) as DP earns way more than me and pays all rent, bills and holidays etc., and we are forever tenants in central London. I'm not complaining as I can save to retrain in to a better role one day, in my own time.

SlothHouse · 30/01/2020 07:39

Oh aren't we smart

What's your problem? That poster hasn't given you any details on what they do, or how they make a living....Cake chill out

Parttimers · 30/01/2020 07:45

12.5hrs a week and I’m paid 1400 a month after deductions
