Does anyone know if all the 3 new projects are 20hrs minimum? I've passed one test this morn but wondering whether to bother doing other 2 cos can't commit to all. Wondering if one is easier than the other tho! Hmm

rhij86 · 07/11/2019 10:37

Well done to everyone who has qualified! Kicking myself that I didn't take more care doing the tests :'(

MoreMoneyPlease · 07/11/2019 10:53

OMG, just done the test for Stanford, my first Appen test. Had no idea it would be so hard! It took me ages, I looked through the guidelines for each questions...still failed it Sad

rhij86 · 07/11/2019 10:57

@moremoneyplease a few of us have failed them - so please don't beat yourself up! Hopefully if you were invited to that one, you'll be invited to others

MoreMoneyPlease · 07/11/2019 11:08

Thanks, @rhij86 that makes me feel a bit better Smile I did think a couple of the questions weren't worded very well, so I struggled to work out what they meant. Would be good to know which questions I got wrong so I'd know for next time!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 07/11/2019 11:25

Don't beat yourselves up. I failed an exam 3 time before i gave up on a different project. They let you try some more than once.

Bemystarlord · 07/11/2019 11:36

So have taken 2 out of 3 of the tests and failed both :(

Starlight2004 · 07/11/2019 11:39

Omg I think I've passed Imbler! At least I did the qualification and now it's in my work this list!

rhij86 · 07/11/2019 11:49

@Starlight2004 well done!!

@Bemystarlord sorry :( perhaps have a break before you try the third, see if a fresh look makes you see something you were missing?

@SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock with these ones you only get one chance - but it's definitely not worth giving up hope. More projects will come along for those of us (me included) that don't get onto these ones

ChubRubTub · 07/11/2019 11:51

@Buster27 I've just had a look on Atlassian and there's a section 'RA Invoicing and Payment Process'.

There's an invoice template and a walkthrough of how to claim via PayPal. It looks relatively straightforward.

Does anyone know if the Crisp fees differ with payment method, like with Appen?

Wolfff · 07/11/2019 11:51

Does anyone know if you can work both Truckee and Imbler as they use the same type of material? Been invited to Elkhorn as well, so might try that one first.

TheLolaMontez · 07/11/2019 11:52

I've been invited to do elkhorn and Imbler deffo tackling them later when little Lola is napping, they sound hard Sad

Bemystarlord · 07/11/2019 11:55

@rhij86 thanks think i will do that. Be helpful if they told you where you went wrong!

Starlight2004 · 07/11/2019 12:03

I'm assuming with these new Appen ones we need to wait for tool access again or is anyone straight on?

For anyone yet to do the tests my advice is take it slow. It did take me around an hour. Some questions I felt had two possible answers so we're tricky. Keep referring g back to the guidelines. I'm trying to decide whetted do do another one.

justtheonethen · 07/11/2019 12:12

@ChubRubTub no you can't see last month, you will have to wait for statement. @Buster27 is right, you invoice them when they have sent your statement which shouldn't be too long.

justtheonethen · 07/11/2019 12:15

@ChubRubTub PayPal will charge you a fee, no fee for bank transfer. PayPal is often the same day and bank transfer up to about a week so depends how quickly you want the money!

CatHopeful · 07/11/2019 12:17

Do the Stanford/Elkhorn etc tests for Appen really take 3-5 hours? That's what the guidelines say, I really don't want to do 3 hours unpaid work?

I'm also really confused about the Niffle stuff. I spent about 40 minutes on 3 'batches' of stuff, but then noticed it said 'unpaid' :/

justtheonethen · 07/11/2019 12:17

I got invited to do the tests for the 20 hour ones on appen but I don't think I'll take them as I don't have 20 hours a week Grin. I think the money works out better on crisp too.

Good luck to those taking them/that have passed, hope you're started soon!

justtheonethen · 07/11/2019 12:21

@CatHopeful I read it as once you have passed the test you do 3-5 hours qualification over a week and they don't pay you for that. That puts me off too!

obviouslymarvellous · 07/11/2019 12:21

Agh failed the bloody elk horn one now have Imbler to do which is the same...
I spent ages on it too and really studied the notes! I just must be thick :(

justtheonethen Glad it's not just me. Half an hour or so I don't mind, but potentially 5 HOURS is unreasonable I think.

justtheonethen · 07/11/2019 12:26

@CatHopeful utterly unreasonable, especially as the project could end at any point/have long periods with no work. The cynic in me thinks they are getting quite a lot of it done for free!

toastytea · 07/11/2019 12:29

@cathopeful which document does it say 3-5 hrs unpaid? I've been scouring the guidelines etc but can't find!

justtheonethen · 07/11/2019 12:32

@toastytea from the very first page you click to qualify.
