Online profiles are hackable and together with user registration data from handle names these sorts of threads might be useful to less than nice people. Not divulging too much is best maybe....

But to be fair I could apply for and would probably get roles the next grade up at £45k but don't want to for various reasons, worklife balance included.

Worked full time without a break even for my babies since 1983.

Salary: 27k

Teaching is not the place to be for the salary!

Lollipity · 05/12/2020 09:59

@Raffie13 It depends where you do it!
Salaries get better the longer you've been teaching, but why not teach abroad?

40s with a BSc, PGCE and MEd. Take home pay after tax: £48k, so ₤4k per month, which is far more than I earnt teaching in the UK.

  • bonus + ₤2k per month for housing + school places for my children worth £70k pa + flights home and medical. Where I live there is no council tax and utilities are about ₤100 per month.

However, the downside is that I'm not currently accruing pension. TPS is a fantastic benefit, even with the CA changes.

33, £34k, LPC (solicitor professionals quals).

I could earn more if I particularly wanted to, but I like the work-life balance that my firm gives me. I'm the main caregiver and wouldn't miss family dinner time, bath, stories and bed for any amount of wages.
