Hello veterans and newbies Grin can't believe we're still going a quarter of the way through the year!

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been crap at tracking properly. Obviously I've got invoices to go off, but I'm going to try to be better this month.

Good start this morning! £28 (£18 less my £10 deposit) on a virgin bonanza box, £8 cashback on the virgin deal too. £10.61 Appen work already done today. I most likely won't do any Crisp today, as I've got an essay due Friday I need to crack on with.

£36.31 so far this month.

How's everyone else ticking along?

Has anyone been invited to Fletcher on Appen?

I suspect it's the same as that bloody awful speech collection task Grin

morekidsthanhands · 01/05/2019 09:17

They are really going for it with that appen task - I'm getting emails about it most days. After spending hours doing a 300 word one there's no way I'm getting suckered into this one!

Last month I focused on crisp and let most other things slide so I'm gonna start back up on other things. I just see a prolific survey or something and think What's the point, might aswell do crisp ill probably earn more. But I'm forgetting the whole idea of this was to save and crisp feels very much like a wage rather than a savings pot if that makes sense, and I don't want to neglect my savings!

Had a call last night from angelfish about an ikea task filling in an online diary. First one ive heard back from. Anyone done these? How are they?

I have an essay in tomorrow so won't be doing crisp today most likely and didn't yesterday. I feel bad about it I think I've done crisp most days this month. What are you studying @otterses?

BummyKnocker · 01/05/2019 09:26

@otterses I'm being nagged about the speech collection, it takes ages, 100 have taken me an hour and they want 900, but for hardly any money.
I don't also got to do 50% more work for the same pay on another project.

They know some people are desperate 🙁

OnlyBejoking · 01/05/2019 09:33

I'm planning to do the final Crisp test today and I'm scared. It seems like lots to get through in half an hour. Any tips?

morekidsthanhands · 01/05/2019 09:48

@onlybejoking set a timer or look at a clock before you start. I didn't and ended up doing over an hour i think to be safe haha. Other than that relax. I got some questions wrong on the test and I was still accepted just told to read up on a few topics.

Otterses · 01/05/2019 10:14

@morekidsthanhands I did an angelfish panel last month about nappies it was fab. I ended up winning £60 of amazon vouchers for very little effort. I'm envious of the Ikea one! My postcode was on there.

@BummyKnocker Nahhh. For $50 it's just crazy. It would be manageable if you didn't need to do the transcript every time of what you said.

@OnlyBejoking RELAX. I promise, it's not as scary as it seems. The interface is a little different from the training they've given you, so don't let that throw you. A lot of what you see will be 'no risk', so you'll work through it quite quickly.

Placemarking

margaritasbythesea · 01/05/2019 11:24

I'm totally ignoring all the emails from Appen about the speech project. I hope they won't hold it against me.

Happy Appen invoice day my fellow Appeneers, and thanks to Otterses for the new thread. Flowers

Babyiwantabump · 01/05/2019 14:46

Woohoo new thread! Excited to get earning this month - planning on doing the crisp 30 minute test tonight!

Misskitty86 · 01/05/2019 15:26

@Otterses hi there - is there a minimum number or hours per week required for crisp? I'm already doing Truckee on Appen and should be starting The thunderbird web defects job on Appen Global in the next few days. Not sure if it's going to be too much to take on with crisp too Hmm

reddA · 01/05/2019 16:00

Hi everyone :) Placemarking - here's to a profitable May :)

anxiouswaiting · 01/05/2019 16:04

Hi, I'd like to join you this month please Smile

I have signed up for 3 projects on Appen but only 3 show as in progress so I guess one they must have decided I don't fit the bill for. Theres another I was going to apply for but it says 15-20hrs unpaid assessment which seems like a lot, is that normal for appen tasks?

I'm signed up to several survey sites and research panels so hope they will bring in some money but I won't count those till they actually pay out as some need to accumulate a lot before you can cashout.

Already use quidco and Topcashback.

Keep failing Crisp so will keep trying!

I do some admin work which I should be able to get £10 a day on if I login for 1.5hrs but it bores me so I have been slack on it, will have to try harder this month.

Also waiting to hear back about some freelance work related to my real job, if it comes through that should be a good earner.

Signed up to RedWigWam but as I am on maternity leave I think I can't do that as it is an employed role rather than self employed, does anyone know if that is right? I am on week 37 of my leave, so only have 2 more weeks of SMP. Can I do emplyed work after 39 weeks or do I have to wait till I go back to work in August?

Good luck for the month everyone and thank you for all the info in the previous threads Grin

Frenchdoors1 · 01/05/2019 16:29

Hi anxiouswaiting

Which admin site are you on please?

anxiouswaiting · 01/05/2019 17:00

@Frenchdoors1 Sorry I can't say who it is for as I signed an NDA, but I got the job via PeoplePerHour about 4 years ago so it is worth signing up to that site as there are often admin tasks on there. I have also done other jobs via the site, you can sign up and be matched with your skills and available jobs, I don't get much from it anymore, but in the past I have had some copy writing tasks.

Frenchdoors1 · 01/05/2019 17:10

Oh, I see, I understand that.
Thanks for all the information on people per hour. Smile

Otterses · 01/05/2019 17:55

@anxiouswaiting not the norm at all, so please don't be put off by Appen! And certainly keep trying with Crisp. To be totally blunt, maternity leave confuses me I think of your on SMP you can be 'self employed' alongside that.

@Frenchdoors1 RecWorks also often advertise for at home admin, they seem a very genuine and family friendly company to work for.

@Misskitty86 As far as I'm aware, no minimum hours. It's lovely that you can just dip in and out.

Bbub · 01/05/2019 19:04

I'm cracking on with my Cloudworkers messages but it's pretty boring and not much per hour. I could do with something else on the side.

Im sure once i get my first pay through that will be a motivator though.

Other earners are cash back and some mystery shopping bits.

Otterses · 01/05/2019 20:01

@Bbub I'm absolutely fascinated by this one. Can you give us a few examples of things you've replied to? What was the training like? Do you think your hourly rate will go up as you pick up speed and gain experience?

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 01/05/2019 20:05

Hi, I've had an email from Crisp today, asking me to join electronically sign the documents and send a copy of my passport which I've just done. I've told that I will then receive another email from the Versal platform, inviting me to do the training once my documents have been verified. I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing to be honest. Scared I wont be able to do the training in time and will fail the test. O well, worth a try I guess.

Otterses · 01/05/2019 20:16

Stumbled across something really interesting.

www.healthywage.com/weight-loss-bet/info/1/E/

So it's a site, that you basically 'bet' on yourself to hit your goal weight. You set an aim, then an amount as low as $5 to bet. Winnings seem to be between $500-$10,000 (jackpot). Reviews look very good too, as long as you don't extend your challenge which seems to be when extra fees kick in.

OP posts:
Otterses · 01/05/2019 20:17

@Octopus37 you get five days to do it Grin and honestly they're quite understanding, of you have other commitments just ping them an email and they'll most likely extend the time you have to do it.

TheCanterburyWhales · 01/05/2019 20:18

Rejoining you under a namechange. Madbusy at work and haven't even looked at Appen for about 3 weeks.

Octopus37 · 01/05/2019 20:26

That's good to know. TBH just feeling a bit overwhelmed and panicky about stuff at the moment.

Frenchdoors1 · 01/05/2019 20:29

@Octopus37
I know how you feel, it can be scary wondering if you're going to succeed.
But we can only try.

smurfmonkey · 01/05/2019 21:16

Hi... I've been lurking on this thread but I signed up for Crisp a while back and finally had my invite to sign my docs etc last week.

I've just finished the Versal course this evening, there really isn't anything to worry about @Octopus37 you work your way through individual modules and most have a short quiz at the end to answer about 10 or so questions based on what you've just read. You can scroll back through the material to double check on answers if needed.

Just waiting for the final test to come through now Smile
