Anyone up for an earn £10 a day challenge this year?

Otterses · 02/01/2019 08:06

I was wondering if anyone would like to join me Smile truth be told I really need the support!

Having DS has reduced my savings, and ability to save now that I'm paying for childcare. So my aim this year is to make £3650, or £10 a day which sounds far less terrifying.

I just thought this would be a great idea to share ideas for earning extra money and cheering each other on. Way better than just staring at a spreadsheet.

Soooooo here it goes.

Day One - £33.37/3650

£22.87 matched betting, and £10.61 Leapforce.

@Otterses Sounds like a great opportunity for your DH and of course your family, but a real load at the moment. Especially if your'e off on mat leave.

namechangedforanon · 14/01/2019 15:58

First day on Prolific ( that I remembered to check and made about £7) had 4 small surveys! Pretty enjoyable!

:)

Otterses · 14/01/2019 16:00

@Mummabear2212 depends entirely on where we move to be honest. A lot of bases are remote (like where we are now) and it's a real struggle to find work within a reasonable commute, access to childcare, public transport, etc. So it's pretty stressful. The move itself is subsidised, but it's then the finding £1000 plus upfront for childcare fees, and that sort of thing, to be honest the biggest stressor for me is not being able to work. Seen way too many forces wives stuck in the position of not being able to find work.

Ah well. I'm sure I can recoup any of the extra money we spend Grin we'll see what DH comes home with. I'm sure MB and LF will save me!

@Otterses, apologies, didn't realise you were a forces wife. Must be a challenge in so many ways. Flowers

Toffeeandyawns · 14/01/2019 16:07

This thread has totally opened my eyes. Thanks OP. I’m going to have a thorough read later and take notes.

Otterses · 14/01/2019 16:43

@Mummabear2212 ohhh don't be sorry! You've nothing to be sorry for. It always works out for us in the end Grin this time we just have the added complication of DS to sort out too.

Rejected by LionBridge - I was expecting that though. I'd be really keen to know how others get on with their applications though.

@Toffeeandyawns again, I'm really glad this is helping you and so many others. There have been some fantastic idea on here Grin together we can all earn extra this year!

I was also thinking - if anyone fancies it we could maybe pop up a google spreadsheet so we can see everyone's running totals? Thought it might be quite motivational to see how everyone else is doing Smile

I signed up to prolific and have done 3 surveys plus am doing clicks on the topcashback competition currently running... that's not going brilliantly as I've only won 80p over a few days but it's all free money! I also cashed out some cashback from a corporate site. Not sure if that counts or not.

Otterses · 14/01/2019 18:36

I don't want to jinx it ... but it looks like we're going to London ... ILL BE NEAR A TUBE STATION! I'm pathetically excited 😂 DH is a bit put out I think, he was hoping there may be something closer to our home town. We'll mull it over, and make a decision tomorrow evening. Think we'll probably move around April.

I've had a nosey on the job sites too, and project workers and related jobs I plan to try to move into pay a lot more London way than they do here. So fingers crossed 🤞

Now I really must do some matched betting and stop flapping around.

I've had nothing on prolific. I think I accidentally deleted my date of birth. It added it with one day out.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 14/01/2019 19:35

i just signed up to prolific and the same thing happened with my DOB. I deleted it by accident too!

Mummabear2212 · 14/01/2019 19:35

Worth signing up to ipsos I say. They do regular surveys/consumer research. Not always accepted but you earn points and can convert these into £10 one use MasterCards or Amazon vouchers. No cash as such but can use online. Very often order my washing powder etc from Wilkinsons online with them.

CarolSpatula · 14/01/2019 19:43

Feel so motivated but waiting for MB to take off (only just on my first two free bets and waiting for results) and have sent of applications to Leapforce and Lionbridge so waiting for a response from them.

Any suggestions for something to earn from in the meantime? The surveys don’t sound like they’re going that well based on what people have said on here?

Oh have also put some stuff on eBay 😇

(Only made about £2.50 so far though 😂)

Otterses · 14/01/2019 20:01

@CarolSpatula LionBridge will get back to you by tomorrow I would imagine. My friend applied this morning and had an email back by lunch! So you shouldn't be hanging around too long.

Have you looked at ohmydosh for a quick earner? They have lightning pay outs that pay in three days.

OP posts:
CarolSpatula · 14/01/2019 20:09

@Otterses wow that’s quick. Fingers crossed. Off to look up ohmydosh now, thanks 😊

Otterses · 14/01/2019 20:13

@CarolSpatula yes! I was surprised too. Not sure how quickly she'll be invited to the exam, but she's agreed I can have a nosey on everyone on here's behalf Grin

I've used my day off to sign up for all of the survey thingies recommended on MSE (ipsos, Swagbucks, ohmydosh etc)
Also signed up to Appen (is that Lionbridge or Leapforce, can't remember)
Then Prolific academic thingy, but it kept not letting me finish answering all the questions.
Still studying how to MB from Italy. All the main bookies plus Betfair operate over here, so once I understand the blurb on the English sites I might dip my toes in on the Italian equivalents.

SplitEndsBushyEyebrows · 14/01/2019 21:02

Can I join?

I’ve been lurking over the last few days.

Signed up to OhMyGosh and earned around £30

Done a few Prolific surverys - made around £13

Signed up to LionBridge last week and I’ve had the email today telling me that my exam can start on Weds 😬

Sorted out old books, toys, shoes, bedding and clothing to take to Cash for Clothes, always get around £10.

Will start matched betting at the end of the month so I have money to move forward while waiting for pay outs.

Don’t forget to follow up any complaints with companies! This can be worth the time, I’ve had ‘goodwill gestures’ from my broadband provider, electricity company, car insurance company, life insurance company - this was the best, I joined through Topcashback and the money wasn’t payable weeks after it should have been. I ended up having to make a lot of calls to chase it all and in the end they paid me directly and said I could keep the money in Topcashback when it tracked too. So I got two lots of £170! The company is great too so win win.
A few years ago I called my bank and said that their overdraft charges etc had pushed me into financial hardship at times and got about £700 refunded the next day 🤷🏽‍♀️

Good luck everyone!

SplitEndsBushyEyebrows · 14/01/2019 21:04

*OhMyDosh

Also - don’t forget Mazuma for any phones/iPads etc that are too broken to sell on via FB, I’ve got £30 worth of tat clogging up space in my junk drawer apparently!

MellyPapa · 14/01/2019 23:23

I have accepted the T&Cs for Lionbridge. The cynic in me does not like the idea of allowing access to my gmail account for targeted ads and assignments etc but I need the money! Fingers crossed I pass the exam when it comes round!

I had an account (never used) on Profit Accumulator years ago. I've tried to sign in but it won't accept my password even after a reset so it stuck there but might set up a new account.

Prolific has been disappointing so far, only 2 surveys since Friday night. I don't think I match the demographics :/

My broadband must be due a renewal soon, last time I got £110 cashback and paid the same price I would have otherwise!

startingafresh1 · 15/01/2019 06:55

Melly how does the access to your gmail account work? I feel like my email account is at the heart of my password security as most changes I request etc go via my email.

Maybe you could set up separate gmail account?

CaitlinsYellowSocks · 15/01/2019 09:06

@Otterses - were you turned down by LB because you're already on LF? Just wondering which one to apply to if I can only do one...

Otterses · 15/01/2019 10:47

@CaitlinsYellowSocks I'd imagine so, they didn't say, just sent me a reply with the application unsuccessful email. I really don't know which is the best to go for, I personally really like Leapforce, but I guess it'll be a different experience for everyone.

@MellyPapa my friend who's applied to LB created a new account with gmail specifically for it, may be an idea?

I'd give profilic a chance Grin the universities haven't been back long.

Thanks to whoever mentioned prolific. I joined up last night and have done 3 studies today making at least £9. They were really interesting too.

I've also made £5 on What users do,.

thenightsky · 15/01/2019 17:26

How did you make £9 from three surveys on Prolific? I did six and its only earned me £3.07
