Why are MLMs/ Network Marketing 'businesses' a scam?

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 20:40

This is the 44th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

Don't know how but there was speculation when it was first mentioned that it would be presenting on the ancillary business not MLM (and today's photo would seem to back that up?)

fromdownwest · 22/11/2018 13:01

Impressive to be able to get on stage selling what is in effect a diary. I think the waters are slightly muddied, using phrases such as a multi million pound business in over 50 countries. Taking snippets from both business to create an illusion. Clever mind

JasperRising · 22/11/2018 13:36

I wonder how relevant her experience is to other business owners given most don't have a ready made market in the form of a downline to guilt trip...

SSDGM · 22/11/2018 14:30

Yep, Broke, I completely believe you have spent the best part of $350 on CBD infused toiletries for your partner. I have no reason to believe you are lying.

And his free online bizz has bought a load of Christmas decorations for his house this year. Bit of a let down from when Valentus was allowing him to buy a (out of MOT, uninsured, untaxed) second hand car, don’t you think?

9dartfinish2nd · 22/11/2018 14:40

Nu Skin had a "no sales" product expo here in London last weekend as well as a few other locations around the country.
Rather amusing to see some of the top bots in the UK having to lower themselves to manning tables and demonstrating products to members of the public.

Lizilondon · 22/11/2018 14:52

Perhaps he should have stayed with Valentus, they're smashing it at the moment so they say!!!!
With only 2 products for sale it's a miracle.
Facebook page Victims of Valentus is a good read.

suedoname · 22/11/2018 16:23

Broke has always been hilarious to watch. I LOVE MY COMPANY... suddenly needs to a live exposing them with the deluded self importance that he’s some sort of watchdog when he’s a massive crook himself. Dragging vulnerable women company to company and having paddy fits if they don’t follow his points system for daily ‘botting’.

He runs a BIZZ not a business. It’s a bit like having the choice between reading The Telegraph or The Daily Mail and still opting to buy The Beano.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 22/11/2018 16:32

@suedoname - TBF, the Beano is probably more factual than the Torygraph or the Fail...

Mielabel · 22/11/2018 16:48

Yawns headlines are getting worse and worse. Think she's running out of ideas to post

suedoname · 22/11/2018 16:55

I haven’t looked on Yawns page for a while.

SMILE KIDS... we buried grandma!

Moron.

fromdownwest · 22/11/2018 17:03

Nope she is standing on stage and advising real business owners that she only paid £200 for her business. Some people 'waste' 10 years of their life and get into debt to become brain surgeons....

Quote 'Are they mental' - great grasp of the correct nomenclature for a business presentation.

In essence it was work harder than anyone as it will always override natural ability.

BSintolerant · 22/11/2018 17:06

Let's hope she doesn't put flowers on the grave in a yellow plastic Forever Living carton.

JasperRising · 22/11/2018 17:37

fromdownwest clever use of images of Richard Branson and Alan Sugar on slides too linking them to network marketing.

Can anyone clarify what their stance on NM is these days? Is Sugar still involved with Tropic? And Branson clearly hosted the event that Lanzabot went to in Africa but I don't think that was organised under an MLM specific banner.

spanfan · 22/11/2018 19:02

I want to know more about this conference. Has she paid to speak I wonder, to flog her shitty diaries.

Was it really a network marketing conference?

I am curious. 😂😂

Ps, any clues for homeschool bot please. 😀💐💐💐

JasperRising · 22/11/2018 19:11

It appears to have been a genuine business 'networking' expo as opposed to a 'network marketing conference'. Heavy promotion of involvement from stars/winners of the Apprentice.

fromdownwest · 22/11/2018 19:27

Nope - a genuine expo full of genuine businesses. I am amazed at how she hoodwinked the orgainsers.

Tupperwarelid · 22/11/2018 21:16

Wonder how she felt presenting her story to a room of people who didn’t whoop and cheer her every other word?

SSDGM · 22/11/2018 22:18

Does anyone remember Smile Enhance? The “teeth detox” toothpaste MLM? The salon the head bot ran the whole scam from was raided by Trading Standards in the summer as dangerous levels of bleach was found in the teeth whitening product. Head bot screeched this was all lies but all of a sudden it was gone. Now the rumour is she’s had a change of surname (they do a lot, don’t they, bots?) and she’s recruiting for a clip in veneers MLM. Lip enhancement and a set of plastic veneers for £399. They are predictably Ross-From-Friends-Teeth Whitening-incident-like. Once it’s confirmed it is her I’ll let you know.

SSDGM · 22/11/2018 22:27

Update: it’s not her, but FFS, clip in veneers MLM 😂

notsurewhatshappening · 22/11/2018 23:55

I'm having orthodontic treatment at the moment- straightening and whitening costing 3k+ ... linky please to clip in teeth 😂

BSintolerant · 23/11/2018 00:32

A clip on teeth veneers MLM? Sounds like a good way for Jamberry bots to dispose of all that stock clogging up their garages.😂

If teeth are a goer, surely there's room in the MLM bubble for a merkin MLM. Come on Timeless Vie: do you fancy a pre-launch pyramid-shaped merkin?

Sunshineandshowers81 · 23/11/2018 07:53

Can anyone explain bbls accounts to me (if you search her 'project' name it comes up) it looks like she had a massive drop in income bit I don't completely understand them?

9dartfinish2nd · 23/11/2018 16:28

Anyone else amused at the desperation of bots trying to shill and recruit for Black Friday?

No-one biting hun?

Paddy1234 · 23/11/2018 20:53

Just gob smacked at Uber.

One of her closest non bot friends posted about being tired after an 18 hour day
Uber replied 'ridiculous - imagine no commute ❤️'

Imagine having a close friend that even after all these years is still trying to recruit you

BSintolerant · 23/11/2018 21:37

So when the likes of Yawn bores us all rigid with her ripping yarns yawns of driving up and down the country in pursuit of bottiness, presumably that doesn't count as a commute?
