Why are MLMs/ Network Marketing 'businesses' a scam?

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 20:40

This is the 44th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

I followed everyone a year or so ago but I’ve been out the loop. I need some distraction in my life, can someone message me with a who’s who of all the code names so I can start following people on Facebook again?

Thanks to these threads signposting to timelessvie I managed to convince my mums friend not to sign up to Younique, which stopped her signing up my mum.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 18/11/2018 13:12

Mountainsided unfortuantely we can't name names, even via PM, but if you were to google something like "Forever Living UK Top 10" and selected images it might be a starting point for the aloe shite bots

SwaylorTift · 18/11/2018 13:36

Does anyone still keep up with Eyes?

BSintolerant · 18/11/2018 13:53

A FL bot has stuck a load of business cards onto advertising posters in the ladies at the M6 Southbound services in Stafford.

At least she's advertising Forever Living in the right place because if it's not heading south it's certainly in the toilet.

HungryChocoHippo · 18/11/2018 14:03

Ohmygodtheykilledkenny T H A N K Y O U ! I've been reading this thread trying to find who Yawn was and I couldn't find her... Thanks for the google search tip ! Got her !

Mountainsided · 18/11/2018 14:40

@OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny that makes sense, will have a google!

Jasmin82 · 18/11/2018 16:29

I'm in the process of extracting myself from an MLM. My confidence has been so dragged down by the experience that I can't face any questions about why I'm leaving from anyone in the company, so I'm just waiting for my account to be suspended and finally deactivated.
I'd been disillusioned for at least a year before, but just thought it was me, that if I just put more effort in, just a few extra hours, it would all come together.
I just wish I had the confidence to close it down, but I have none left to do the right thing.

Spongebobette · 18/11/2018 16:35

Welcome Jasmin

Well done for realising what had happened to you

will your upline leave you alone?

OP posts:
BSintolerant · 18/11/2018 16:42

Jasmine good for you for seeing the light. If you take a deep breath and close your account you'll feel in control of your life and a trickle of satisfaction at having kneed your MLM in the nuts. The MLM Resistance is right behind you to offer support, a hand-hold, and extra knees for nuts which need kneeing. Try saying that after a shot of aloe, skinny coffee or jizz plus!

Jasmin82 · 18/11/2018 17:02

To be honest, my upline has so many "minions" she wouldn't notice, Spongebobette
BS In order to close everything down, I have to send an email outlining why I want to leave. I wish it was as simple as just clicking a button, but they've made it difficult to leave when confidence is shot.

HungryChocoHippo · 18/11/2018 17:14

Could you just tell them you wish to stop working with them as you are no longer satisfied with the business, and then never reply to them again?

ArbunneHun · 18/11/2018 19:16

Dearest @Jasmin82: we’re here to support and listen. I’m sorry for your experience, but welcome to an MLM-free life. It can only get better from now, and we’re with you every step of the way.

BSintolerant · 18/11/2018 19:55

They're buggers aren't they? There's no need for anyone to explain why they're giving up an MLM. If they demand a reason tell them it's private and you're not going to discuss it any further. They want to know your reasons so they can find a sneaky way to talk you out of quitting.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 18/11/2018 20:21

Alternatively I'm sure someone on this thread would compile a blinder of an email response for you Jasmine82 .

BTW congratulations on getting out! You won't regret it.

Castle has released a new product. Get ready to be disappointed this Christmas kids of mlm parents when you get your very own kids my pro planner

BSintolerant · 18/11/2018 20:54

Just when you think you've heard it all ... Tell us more Hunbot.

Hunbot · 18/11/2018 20:57

Been announced on her Facebook. They have done a kids edition of the pro planner. The bots are getting very excited about it. They are probably just waiting for their kids to turn legal and join their downline

BSintolerant · 18/11/2018 20:58

Ah ... it's a glorified diary for kids where they can list homework, affirmations, hobbies and suchlike. What is the point? The only affirmations kids should learn is. "I will not fall victim to MLM meetings!" and "I will sack the bots."

BSintolerant · 18/11/2018 21:00

Sorry for the typo. These kids' planners have disrupted my punctuation. Grin

Hunbot · 18/11/2018 21:00

Aimed at 6-12 Yr old. Can't imagine 6 Yr old being interested - surely more of a teenage thing?

ArbunneHun · 18/11/2018 21:02

The perfect gift to go with a certain irritating ‘coach’s ‘Mini-mindset’ programme. Because you can’t start brain-washing children too early.

Watch their little faces light up on Christmas morning when they see their pro-planner and subscription to some ridiculous affirmation-chanting set up. Just what they’ve always wanted!

Paddy1234 · 18/11/2018 21:22

Simply the worst idea ever

Reeks of desperation

A glorified homework diary

Ladiva1971 · 18/11/2018 21:30

Is Roomies FB down or is it me?

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 18/11/2018 21:39

I was about to come on and say the same thing.

I've found a "business" page for her as an author which was probably her FL business page before.

I wonder if this is her escape from the clutches of MLM??
