MLM Bot Watch 36 - Those who think it's ok to tell white lies soon become colourblind

36 Lies to reel you in...

  1. They will tell you that you will have time freedom in this business. Two weeks later they will tell you the business won't work unless you do.

When it's a business event they will not accept excuses for you missing it and will set an example by missing their child's first birthday or telling you a story of how they once shit themselves in white trousers on the front row at success day because they were poorly but didn't want to miss it.... You will know quickly that the unspoken rules is 'no excuses on success day's.

My cynical side (yes, I do have one!) thinks that Vida only stepped in when their position became legally untenable.

They sacrificed their main income generator to protect the whole illegal, not-for-resale business.

Watching it all unfold with interest Hmm

cozietoesie · 20/02/2018 16:22

Goodness. You have a cynical side? Shock

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 20/02/2018 18:15

I'm enjoying the comments on the Vida announcement post from all the people he's shafted. He's slime personified.

SSDGM · 20/02/2018 20:33

Now the comments are coming from those who have been shafted by Vida themselves. Products not arriving, money being removed from accounts, accounts being terminated and other diamonds buying promotions with £20k of stock. All the stuff every MLM insists doesn’t go on. Vida are trying to defend themselves but they aren’t looking great..

SerenSmith · 20/02/2018 20:37

Hi. First post here but long time lurker. Never been involved in an MLM thankfully but have a couple of friends who have started flitting from one to another. One is currently a cryptobot having previously been a younique “mascara millionaire” green status presenter and most recently an isagenix bot

The other one was a younique “pink status” but couldn’t get any further than that, was a skinnycoffeebot for about a week and is now an acti labs bot.

I also follow a black status bot - as much as I despise MLM’s I find them weirdly fascinating - this particular bot is really irritating but I’m fascinated by what she’s going to come out with next!

cozietoesie · 20/02/2018 21:15

Welcome, Seren. Smile

BSintolerant · 20/02/2018 21:39

The Vida Divina announcement is fascinating and disturbing. What goes around comes around - do we have Trading Standards, the ASA and all those who dropped that shillbot in it to thank for his demise?

Vida Divina's declaration that God is on their side amuses me.

God knows what the Almighty thinks of being associated with a thinly-disguised pyramid scheme. Well he would, wouldn't he? Grin

We all know he's on Timeless Vie's side. #praisethelard!

SSDGM · 20/02/2018 21:45

Uh-oh.. A woman Vida Diamond leader is now being investigated for encouraging downline to takeout credit cards and loans to buy stock...

BSintolerant · 20/02/2018 21:49

How very empowering. "I can get you into debt! #askmehow!"

Seriously though, I hope she gets sued and has to cough up every single penny.

darceybussell · 20/02/2018 22:09

Love it when a big leader quits or is sacked from an MLM and they all start doing competitive 'ethical-ness'. Grin

'Oh you're so ethical hun, I'm so honoured to be associated with such and ethical leader!'

Meanwhile Vida divina are getting loads of comments from their bots saying 'you're such an ethical company, really happy to work with a company that is so ethical!'

Newsflash huns - none of you are fucking ethical.

ArbunneHun · 20/02/2018 22:23

Such an ethical company! Launching in a market where you can’t legally sell your ‘product’! Turning a blind eye to the lies, bullying, promotion buying and downline-snatching until the law catches up with you and then you throw someone under the bus to save your own skin!

Why yes, Vida. That’s the very definition of ‘ethical’...

Hmm
BSintolerant · 20/02/2018 23:18

Do any of these bots know the meaning of the word ethical?

Ethical and MLM go together like a ... oh, I don't know: a chair with an oversized hunspirational sign hanging off it? Wink

acatcalledjohn · 21/02/2018 07:59

Intriguing, BS, intriguing...

Grin
BangingOn · 21/02/2018 08:34

acat has kindly pointed me in the direction of this thread after I posted on the old one Blush

I’ve been lurking on these threads on and off since the start and really appreciate the ex-MLM people sharing their stories as well as the excellent work raising awareness of the reality of MLMs.

A high level JP who I used to work with and now follow from afar seems to be going down the business inspiration, motivational speaker route now. From what I can see she clams to have 12,000 in her downline yet barely gets any likes on her JP Facebook page, which surprises me as I thought you were supposed to blindly support your upline.

I’ve also noticed that she has downgraded her JP website, which previously had different levels of membership subscription to lifestyle plans and an online shop, both of which have now vanished. She was suggesting a voucher for a ‘30 minute motivational telephone call’ as an ideal Christmas present for friends and family though.

Following a suggestion on here I also checked out her accounts filing with Companies House and from what I can see she is making money, but less than she would have been paid previously and she’s “retired” her husband too.

ArbunneHun · 21/02/2018 09:07

Seeing a lot of ‘leaders’ de-emphasising their MLM business in favour of ‘coaching’ or other non-MLM sidelines. Personal training, blogging, planners, coaching...

And plenty of leaders & their ‘retired’ partners are quietly sneaking back into their traditional J. O. Bs.

It’s almost like MLMs are unstustainable and perhaps not the future of employment after all...?

BangingOn · 21/02/2018 09:51

Imagine that Grin

I am transfixed by this bot as she was actually really good at what she did in her JOB and would have had a decent salary (£60k ish plus bonus, healthcare, car, pension etc) and had a good future career ahead of her. She’s clearly savvy to have built up that size of downline and has opened a fitness studio to run alongside the products, she’s also very good at public speaking so I can see why she’s gone into that side of things. Still, I don’t think she’s actually making the money she pretends she is.

SerenSmith · 21/02/2018 14:56

Thanks cozietosie.

Another Facebook friend (mum from school) has obviously signed up to masscryp today

I’ve read up a bit about it over the last few days - still don’t get it - but from what I can gather it’s a company based in India, dodgy website, quite clearly Ponzi scheme and people who have invested basically have to wait 4.5 months for their supposed return? (Which over that amount of time doesn’t seem like much anyway)

I’m literally stunned that people openly admit to not understanding what they’re doing, yet want people to join them?! This is the worst yet imo - hopefully it will be short lived....

ArbunneHun · 21/02/2018 16:39

It’s worth reporting to Action Fraud - the more of us that do, the more likely they are to act.

MotherFeeder · 21/02/2018 18:06

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining.
What I don't understand is how well educated, professional women get sucked in to the schpeel?

In the small town I live in everyone seems to have their own make up business and I just feel really sorry for those who don't have much disposable income being sucked in on the dream they can give us their jobs.

BSintolerant · 21/02/2018 18:18

Anyone can get sucked into a cult.

BSintolerant · 21/02/2018 18:31

Motherfeeder and Seren - welcome to the place where MLM lies come to die at the hands of so-called middle-aged keyboard warriors! Grin

We have also been compared to IS and "scum" by a visiting bot who came here looking for abuse. There are therapeutic treatments for people like that: they're called Success Days.

If there are any other lurkers, say hello.

cozietoesie · 21/02/2018 18:55

Welcome, Mother. The more the merrier. Smile

SerenSmith · 21/02/2018 19:47

Thanks BSIntolerant

A beach body bot with pink hair who has a huge following on fb went absolutely mad at me when I dared to comment that I was disappointed that she was involved in an MLM. I hadn’t realised until she started dropping in the shakes and incentives she’d received from “running her biz”

Well, you’d have thought I’d shagged her husband or something just as serious. All hell broke loose. Dozens of beach body bots descended upon the thread hissing the usual insults, saying I could be prosecuted for slander blah blah. And then with 10 minutes I was blocked and all comments removed.

It always amazes me that those who I would consider intelligent women get sucked in. I honestly do think people are getting sick of it though..my bots very rarely get any interaction on their posts these days aside from fellow bots and I’m starting to see more and more flitting from one MLM to another or doing several at once.

Interestingly, in this area (Notts) it all seems to be younique, Arbonne, acti labs, a few isagenix and juice plus but The others seem non existent.

Racmactac · 21/02/2018 20:49

Arrrgghhh friend of mine just joined younique. Where's that link with the blog?
