Sorry, I have no idea Fork - I just signed up. Are you outside the UK, not been in the UK long or anything like that? I guess the best thing to do would be to ask them on live chat.

mikapatika · 20/09/2018 18:22

Glad you’ve got your head around it 😁

titchy · 20/09/2018 19:24

In 'your account' there's a link to upload documents. They should tell you what they want (typically passport and photo of bank card - hide a couple of the digits just to be safe!).

Fork2fork · 20/09/2018 22:51

Thank you Titchy, will do. I am in the UK cheese. I have set my accounts up, although not deposited in them yet. Had a wobble and didn't place any bets. Will have another look tomorrow. Think it threw me as Oddsmonkey didn't take me to the direct lay bet page as I thought it would. Will sort id out tomorrow and have another look over the weekend. Thanks for everyone's advice

Hi all! Just been catching up on all the posts. Looks like people have been busy and doing well!

I haven't had such a good week this week, alot of my bets ended up coming in at the bookies so I am waiting for them to come back to me. I have also taken the plunge and got my first acca going, final bet on for tonight so that's taken up alot of my exchange funds. Just under 100 this week.
So a slowish start but I am just trying to get my exchange built up and I don't want to put anything more in from my own money. And I know so little about betting terms I have to do a lot of research!

How has everyone else done?

twinkledag · 23/09/2018 10:22

I've just started! Been looking into this for a while. Opened Coral and Betfair last night. Waiting for the Chelsea v West Ham game to make my small loss then I can start with the £20 bet!

Anyone else just started out? I used the info from the Save The Student page.

Would love to make £75k @vandrew4!

vandrew4 · 23/09/2018 11:30

twinkle you'll make a fair few thousand with very little time and effort. You need any help just PM me.
Good luck with it all and keep us posted!

Underworld345 · 23/09/2018 20:35

I started last week and am about £200 up I think - waiting on tonight’s la liga games! Also waiting on cashback offers - anyone know how long it takes for them to come through? Just showing pending at the moment?

Johndoe10 · 23/09/2018 20:35

Can I join in? I e just found this thread as it was mentioned in another.

I need money for Christmas!

Do I need a laptop or is it iPad/phone friendly?

cheesemongery · 24/09/2018 05:35

Morning all, in spite of my midweek brain fog I'm £179 and still have two £10 free bets to use.

I managed the 3 team Acca as Betfair came up with it in a search, but I'm struggling to find out how to lay the 5 acca. Am I better off using Smarkets for this? If anybody can help please let me know, thanks.

cheesemongery · 24/09/2018 05:38

Hi John, welcome! I'm not sure re the ipad - I'm sure someone will let you know, there is one free bet that is mobile app only which I can't do as my mobile is a dinosaur!

HilaryBriss · 24/09/2018 09:45

@Johndoe10 I find it easier on a laptop/computer as I need lots of tabs open at once but it is definitely possible on a phone or tablet, lots of people do it that way.

Underworld345 · 24/09/2018 10:27

I started doing it on iPhone for Betfair and iPad for the bookies, however, a week in and I’ve started using laptop and find it much easier.

iPad is doable but I think it’s a little slower.

Underworld345 · 24/09/2018 10:30

Can any experienced matched bettors advise - advice I’ve read is to place bets on the day (preferable just before) the match to avoid looking suspicious and being gubbed.

This advice makes it difficult as due to work/family commitments, I’m not always free to spend time placing bets - I much prefer to do it when I’ve got spare time.

So question is, can you place bets days before as long as they’re big cup/league matches? And not get gubbed?

mamahanji · 24/09/2018 15:13

Underworld

Absolutely you can place bets in advance. It isn't suspicious at all.

twinkledag · 24/09/2018 16:18

I'm up about £13 plus I got 25 free spins so I made a few quid from that too. Very pleased.

Have opened up a Paddy Power and Smarkets account which is my next target!

titchy · 24/09/2018 16:19

Don't use them both to back and lay the same event twinkle - they're the same company.

titchy · 24/09/2018 16:20

Ah no they're not - PP and Betfair are the same!!!!

twinkledag · 24/09/2018 17:07

Thanks @titchy! That why I opened smarkets as I already have Betfair! Any tips on what my qualifying bet should be? I used save the student for my Betfair/Coral bet but they don't have any info on Paddy/Smarkets so im a bit scared!

titchy · 24/09/2018 17:42

The odds at PP/Coral, and Bfair/SM will be pretty much the same to be honest so you could just use the odds matcher then check manually. I wouldn't not subscribe to a MB site though - the sites are worth their weight in gold!

twinkledag · 24/09/2018 18:36

Thanks @titchy, will do once DS is in bed!

lightonthewater · 24/09/2018 20:55

I have read several sites and tried to understand how this works. I get the general principles.. you put a bet on one outcome and then lay a bet on the opposite outcome, so they cancel each other out. You then get a free bet which you place on something else, but what if that bet loses? This is what i don't understand. Or are you just taking the chance that it may lose and it doesn't matter if it is free?

lightonthewater · 24/09/2018 20:56

What are reload offers, and what happens when you've used up the introductory free bets from bookmakers? Surely it only lasts as long as the free bets last?

titchy · 24/09/2018 20:58

but what if that bet loses?

Because you've layed the free bet (ie bet on the opposite outcome) your profit comes from the exchange you layed it at if it loses at the bookie.

titchy · 24/09/2018 21:00

Reloads are just more offers the bookies throw at you - refund if your horse is second, free bet for every £30 you stake, bet £10 get £5 free etc etc.

There's always offers, though inevitably you'll be banned, but make hay while you can!
