Oddsmonkey do you mean? If so, yh it's brilliant.

The only thing I would say about shop arbing is that to make more than a couple of pounds from a good arb, you'd need to be putting down £££ in the bookies and then even more at the exchange. In my opinion, you'd be better off using a large bankroll for hi5/2clears, and 2ups. Very large money to be had if you have a sizeable bankroll for them.

Anyway, good luck with the sign up offers. Join the team Profit facebook group. It's golden. And we answer any questions you need if you need help.

JustGettingStarted · 18/06/2018 09:14

Yes oddsmonkey!

I think the sharbing will be good if we get gubbed from William and Coral and we have a large bankroll. I already often have £100 cash to spare (I'm paid in cash) and I would enjoy doing it.

mamahanji · 18/06/2018 09:15

I have seen people mention that Ladbrokes in particular offer amazing instore offers! I think William Hill do too so that's an advantage if you have them near you!

I've never stepped foot in a bookies and I have young kids so can't take advantage of those offers.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 18/06/2018 11:04

Well my first week at experimenting and I made a profit of £38! Have opened up a separate bank account to keep track of it more easily and will sign up to membership with Profit Accumulator today.

JustGettingStarted · 18/06/2018 16:38

I have to say that this is making football mildly interesting to me. We want to lose at the bookies, which means we have a tiny mental stake in the outcome!

Mybestusername · 19/06/2018 19:37

I started last week and am about £50 up so far, annoyingly my bookie bets keep winning rather than the exchange! I backed Japan and Senegal today with free bets, not expecting them to win! It’s definitely making the World Cup more interesting.

JustGettingStarted · 19/06/2018 22:35

We've put 270 in and made about 170 (minus the payment for oddsmonkey). It definitely helps to have a bit of a bankroll. We got lucky to lose into smarkets on most bets. There's enough cash in the bank and the exchange to do two more sign ups tomorrow. Then, it will depend on what ends up in the exchange. We've withdrawn about 120, which should be in the bank in a few days. But the remaining easy offers require a big pool in order to maximise the free bets. If it says "up to £50 free bets" because it matches 100% up to £50, we'd prefer to wait until we can take full advantage.

I won't be able to put any more cash into the dedicated account for about a week, at least.

JustGettingStarted · 20/06/2018 06:53

mamahanji I tried to join the Team Profit Facebook group, but I wasn't approved. I tried to join again but was promptly rejected (site page showing "join group" again.) I have no idea why!

I joined the Save the Student group but there's not much traffic on it.

The Oddsmonkey forums are OK, but extremely hard to navigate. I like to read entire threads but when I scroll down they jump.

Still, I'm learning a lot from them. My husband doesn't care for forums so I pass on the valuable nuggets gleaned from forums.

LunaDeet · 20/06/2018 06:55

I did the same Mybest. Wacked all my free bets on Japan, and after England winning too my exchange account is broke! Why are all the underdogs winning?! I can’t wait to have a bigger bankroll.

Did they say why you were rejected? They have a questionnaire you need to fill in when you try and join.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/06/2018 12:30

Ive got so much out on Ascot I’ve got £1.84 in my exchange! I hope I’m doing it right. mamahanji I’m going to pm you with a question if you don’t mind, I don’t want to post it openly in case it is an incredibly thick question....

JustGettingStarted · 20/06/2018 12:43

mamahanji I emailed and they said it's because my profile says that I'm not in the UK. I only have my hometown, not my current location. I explained and they've let me in!

mamahanji · 20/06/2018 13:39

Not a stupid question at all, I'm just composing a reply now!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/06/2018 14:21

Thank you so much!

mamahanji · 20/06/2018 15:10

Sorry I'm juggling children and trying to right the details and it's proving tricky! I will get back to you though but will most likely be this evening when the kids are down and my brain can work.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/06/2018 16:17

Perfect, no rush.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/06/2018 07:22

I have another question, hopefully not as daft as the one I asked mamahanji

Currently there are a lot of tempting bookie offers especially as both Royal Ascot and World Cup of bet for x plus y to win and get enhanced odds of z. Across sports as well, so horses/horses, horses/football etc.

I know that to benefit from these
a) lay odds multiplied are less than the back, odds
b) the events can’t be simultaneous and you have to lay in sequence
c) if the first one loses its game over

My question is what odds to use in the calculator when calculating the lay amount.

So in a very crude hypothetical example:-

Bookie is offering ASpanishNamedHorse to win the 3.20 at Ascot plus Spain to beat Japan in the World Cup that evening at odds of 9.

3.20 Royal Ascot - ASpanishNamedHorse (normal back odds 2, lay 2.5)
6.00 World Cup Match - Spain to beat Japan (normal back odds 2.5, lay3)

My question, I’m rubbish at maths but can follow directions when I know what they are! On the calculator I use to work out my first lay bet, do I enter

I back £10, therefore I lay £10 (?), at the odds of:-

Back: 9
Lay: 2.5

Or

Back: 2
Lay: 2.5

Or something entirely different Grin

Thanks to anyone taking the time to answer. I feel I’m getting more from this thread than I’m putting in, but maybe this particular question can help any newbies as well.

mamahanji · 21/06/2018 08:55

Ok to answer your second question, I'm still answering your first one as it isn't a silly question at all but isn't...matched betting as such.

Unless you are betting on a 'multiple' which is one single bet of 2+ separate legs. So 2 horses to their respective races, or 2 football teams to win their respective games, and your bet only wins if both things happen. These are virtually impossible to lay for any profit and when you bet in 'multiples' the back odds are x together.

So if there are separate offers, you don't need to do them consecutively. Some places that do promotions like these will say 'only the first bets on such and such event will count'.

The calculator, if you are on iPhone, download the team Profit new calculator app! It's amazing.

You do not multiply the lay odds by anything. You don't times the back odds by anything either.

So say you want to back £10 on a horse with odds of 2.5 and lay odds of 3.

You put in the calculator in normal/trigger bet mode

Stake: £10

Back odds: 2.5

Lay odds: 3

Commission: whether it's 2% for smarkets or 5% for betfair or 0% if you have smarkets zero commission

And it will tell you what to lay and what your qualifying loss is.

mamahanji · 21/06/2018 09:13

I've replied to you now about your first question too! Hope it makes sense.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/06/2018 11:15

mamahanji you are a star, thank you so much, I knew it couldn’t be simple but couldn’t work out why it wouldn’t be, I’ll leave you to concentrate on Ascot Flowers

moogdroog · 21/06/2018 19:40

Just dropping in about a year since a Mumsnet thread finally gave me the push to start matched betting. I'd heard about it years ago, and wish I'd started then.
MBing has eaten all my MNing time!
However, a year on, I'm £8500 better off, and 6 grand of that has been since January. Looking like June is going to be £2000 profit. I mostly do casino - has it's highs and it's lows, but the highs are higher than the lows are low, if you know what I mean. Keep at it!

titchy · 21/06/2018 21:05

Nice one moog! I'm about £9,500 up, but have only started doing casino in the last two months, having lost quite a few bookies now. Hard to get used to casino swings but it's working overall!

MissFitton · 21/06/2018 21:56

Excellent stuff moog. I'm just shy of 5K up, but I've started gathering momentum in the last couple of months so hopefully my profits will start going up a bit faster!

OP posts:
moogdroog · 21/06/2018 22:23

I've been guilty of thoroughly neglecting the sports side of things over the last few months, a bit silly really. I've getting back into it the last few weeks, and have been trying to get my Exchange balance 'working' for me whenever I can (price boosts, 2ups, horses etc). So much stuff going on with the World Cup and Ascot, it's hard to keep up at the moment.

I was also getting a bit spendy with my bankroll and have been building it back up.

Which have you lost so far titchy?

titchy · 22/06/2018 07:46

Massively time consuming isn't it?! Don't have time to take full advantage of World Cup and ascot! I've lost both Paddypower and Bet365 so no more 2Up. Sad Also lost Sky and Coral which I was equally pissed off about, and another 30 odd which I'm not that bothered with.

Still have Will Hill and Ladbrokes thank goodness!
