As the last thread is almost full, here is a nice fresh clean one.

In a nutshell, matched betting is a clever way of making ££££ from the bookies without ever having to gamble.

This is profit accumulator

This is odds monkey

Vertical, I did the grosvenor one last night too. I think the deposit £20 and get £20 requires wagering 6 times or something like that, so I didn't click yes to the offer. I put on a £5 bet so I don't know that I'll get a free bet now. I haven't yet looked into the multiple wagering thing yet.

Choconuts · 25/04/2017 08:19

Sorry vertical I thought you meant grosvenor. I've been reading the chat rooms on oddsmonkey and made myself really paranoid about being gubbed

SandyDays · 25/04/2017 08:31

What's does being gubbed mean?

Choconuts · 25/04/2017 08:33

When the bookies restrict or close your account as they realise you are matched betting

wohmum · 25/04/2017 09:19

So I've been doing this since the weekend , made a couple of rookie errors on sign ups , but it seems that the actual profit on each £10 free bet is around £7-£8 , is that about right? If so I can't see how people are making £100s or more each week . Am I missing something?

louisejxxx · 25/04/2017 09:36

Yes that's about right wohmum - I made £13ish from a free £20 bet. I think unless you can afford to have a float of upwards of £100 the approach is mostly "slow and steady wins the race"

MrsWombat · 25/04/2017 09:37

You keep making money after the new account offers dry up by doing reloads. E.g. the current weekly coral bet £25 and get £10 free offer. You will have to do lots of massive bets/lay bets to make lots of small bits of profit, which is why a lot of people probably give up after the main offers.

TessTube · 25/04/2017 09:44

The wagering requirement is usually that if they give you free money and you win it isn't instantly credited to you.

E.g. Stan James gave me a free £5 to use on the slots. I checked the t&c and I had to wager it 20 x to be able to withdraw - so to spend 150

So I made sure my real account was empty and just sat and shoved the money in until I'd met that and then it appeared in my 'real' account and I whipped it out quick smart

So it depends if you are lucky enough to win enough with the "free" money to meet the requirement and stop as soon as you do!

wohmum · 25/04/2017 11:06

Thanks . Even with a largish float it seems a lot of work . Tesstube - so for that £5 bet, did you lay it 20 times too ? And how much profit did you make on it? Presumably around £3.50 ?

HeyRoly · 25/04/2017 11:29

Stan James gave me a free £5 to use on the slots. I checked the t&c and I had to wager it 20 x to be able to withdraw - so to spend 150

So you had to gamble £150 of your own money? And there was a chance you'd lose it all? Seems very risky indeed - unless I'm missing something (I know NOTHING about slots as casino games so may have the wrong end of the stick)?

MrsWombat · 25/04/2017 11:35

HeyRoly I think she means turning the free £5 into £150 before withdrawing it. So gamble the free fiver and win a tenner, then gamble the tenner and win another tenner etc etc.

HeyRoly · 25/04/2017 11:48

Ohh, ok I'm with you. Like I said I've never played slots in my life, so don't remotely understand how they work! Smile

wohmum · 25/04/2017 11:48

But what if you don't win a tenner each time? If you could guarantee winning a tenner for every free fiver we'd all be quids in !

I guess that she layed each of the bets up to the £150 so only lost pennies each time

We need Tesstube to let us know what she actually did , and probably Maidofstars to let us know what we should be doing

MrsWombat · 25/04/2017 11:55

If you don't win anything you don't get to withdraw anything. It's a risk free bet, just one where you are unlikely to win anything, and you can't lay the bet either. It's just an extra bonus if you win. I've won 50p a couple of times on the current Sky Vegas offer.

HeyRoly · 25/04/2017 11:57

The reason I ask is because Coral have offered me a free tenner on the slots if I deposit another £10. I figured I could make a £10 bet, lay it at the exchange, and aim to make a loss of around 20p. So the free go on the slots would cost me around 20p.

The wagering requirement is x10, so I'd have to turn that free £10 into at least £100 of winnings before I could withdraw it?

For the sake of 20p (or whatever the qualifying loss turned out to be) I can't help but think it's worth a go! Only problem is I don't know how to play slots...

MrsWombat · 25/04/2017 12:00

HeyRoly I would bet £20 on a big match and class it as a mug bet!

Madbengalmum · 25/04/2017 12:06

Hi, can i ask where you lot have signed up for email accounts please?
As i want a separate one for this but don't know which is best. Thanks

TessTube · 25/04/2017 12:19

Hey Roly - yes sounds right.

Stan James let you use the bonus, then it comes out of your "real" money then back to any winnings from the bonus.

So check that isn't the case otherwise make sure your account is empty.

Plus make sure it's a tenner you can bet on Sportsbook and not a tenner you have to get through on the slots first? That would make it much less attractive

TessTube · 25/04/2017 12:20

The free slots at Stan James have been really lucrative for me and I've not had to risk a penny of my own money!

DeleteOrDecay · 25/04/2017 12:20

Mad I used gmail. I already have a gmail account for day to day emails and It was quick and easy to set up a second one.

FiveHoursSleep · 25/04/2017 13:24

Okay, I've done the Coral and BetFreds offer on Oddsmonkey and made £30-40. I'm not sure how to work out exactly what I've made.
Where do people go from there? Is the premium service on Oddsmonkey worthwhile?

FiveHoursSleep · 25/04/2017 13:26

Are the offers on profit accumulator the same as the Oddsmonkey ones?

OverthinkingSpartacus · 25/04/2017 14:32

Ive spent several hours reading about grubbing as I had trouble sleeping last night.

PaddyPower looks to be one of the accounts you don't want grubbing

I was planning on signing up to them today but a lot of what I read say not to lay with Betfair as they are the same company and there's a good chance they'll notice so it's recommended to use smartest when laying with paddy power.

I know a few pos have mentioned that they use smarkets all the time, is it as easy to navigate as betfair? I'm thinking of withdrawing everything from betfair and putting into smarkets as their commission is lower so would mean more profit for me?

Betfred money back in my bank today, so only took one day to day withdraw :)

Only have one free bet active which will give me £6 profit today, have to do some sign ups so am going to transfer a bit from dhs bank to do a few :)

I've made myself an excel sheet, much easier to track where my money is, which bet has made what, which bet has settled etc. Have a s eco do copy on Dropbox.

Ive put the apps on my phone just to check when out and about (if you use android you'll have to change settings to allow third party installations and download from bookmakers, you can't do it from google play as betting apps not allowed) but do everything on my second laptop. I'd be scared of doing it on iPad or phone touch screen as I'm always catching wrong bit with my fingers. I'm very lucky that a friend gave me a spare laptop at Christmas, it's older than my own but runs loads faster..

HeyRoly · 25/04/2017 14:38

I read this several pages back but Oddsmonkey don't mention this as a potential problem. If it was really an issue I'm sure they'd recommend you lay with Smarkets and not Betfair.

I used Betfair to lay against my Paddypower bets, so I guess I'll let you know...

DeleteOrDecay · 25/04/2017 15:03

Right I've done it. I've just done my first qualifying bet at coral then laid at betfair to get 4x£20 free bet which I stand to lose around 5p on (I think) then I did the free bets and laid again at betfair and if I've done it all correctly, I should make around £14.21. I followed odds monkey tutorial and it took me much longer than the 10mins they stated due to vigorous double checking so it should all be fine but I'm nervous.

Both 'sets of bets' are on football matches which take place this evening.
