ExpatMrs · 08/04/2017 15:59

Just came across a good few MNers talking about it on another thread. I don't even know what it is but from the jist of the convo, there's good money to be made from having a couple of hours a day to do it... I have those hours!!
Can anyone enlighten me please?

I think I've got it.

Sign up etc and bet a small sum. Lay reverse bet with similar odds on bet fair.

One will win, one will lose but overall loss is minute.

Unlock free bet.

Repeat with free bet.

Turn profit.

Is that it?.

MaidOfStars · 12/04/2017 16:49

is gubbing not inevitable?
I don't think so. A couple of mug bets per free offer, similar sized stakes, similar betting patterns, isn't going to attract attention.

And can the bookies tell you are match betting when you place mug bets (layed of course)
Nope. Bookies cannot see what and where you are laying.

In the Oddsmonkey oddsmatcher should I avoid "red" matches as I think they are arbing which bookies really don't like?
I've seen these. Basically, the red flags are matches where the lay odds are shorter than the back odds, which will generate profit, even on a qualifying bet (although it may only be a couple of quid).

The problem with this situation is that bookies can realise they have fucked up the odds they are offering and rectify them without offering you the bet back (it's in their T&Cs). So you're left with a back and a lay bet that might not match nicely.

My own assessment of the Oddsmatcher and my reading of arbing is that:

  1. Oddsmatcher wouldn't return the match if the odds were so far apart that it's going to be a problem for the bookies, and thus I judge these matches as probably OK. Despite this, I have ignored them. I've noticed they seem to flag on horses, where betting odds are widely changeable over very short spaces of time. Thus, the window is usually small. And I don't want to bet on horses anyway.
  2. My understanding of arbing is that it exploits far larger gaps between lay odds and back odds, where there has been a very obvious cock up at the bookies. Think lay odds of 3.5 v back odds of 7.5.

Ive done my coral £5 bet now too. How long does free bets take to hit your screen?

MaidOfStars · 12/04/2017 16:51

I was going to do that with possibly the addition of high profile non football events eg Tour de France, Wimbledon etc as I guess the average punter might get sucked into these because they are so promoted in the media (and on betting sites) Does that sound reasonable?
Yes, completely agree.

I had about £20 in a SkyBet account a few years ago, my only foray into betting in my life! I am modelling how I used that to make myself look regular, and it's exactly what you've outlined. I made lots of small bets on a specific footy team to win, then a couple of slightly larger bets on things like the Superbowl and a golf Major.

MaidOfStars · 12/04/2017 16:53

Fluffycloudland77
Yes.

I posted a detailed set of calculations from my first set of bets upthread. Have a search for that. You'll see it worked through with some real life figures.

MaidOfStars · 12/04/2017 16:55

How long does free bets take to hit your screen?
Mine were immediately credited.

Coral credits 4 x £5 vouchers. If you want to bet the whole £20 on the same event (the easiest thing to manage), you'll need to make four separate bets, using one voucher for each bet. Do this one after the other, then go lay.

Verticalvenetianblinds · 12/04/2017 17:05

My betfred ones not there yet

MaidOfStars · 12/04/2017 17:19

Oh sorry.

Your Coral free bet will be immediately credited when your £5 bet is settled.

My Betfred free bet appeared early this afternoon, after my £10 stake was settled last night.

MaidOfStars · 12/04/2017 17:20

(Betfred say it can take up to 48 hours to credit the free bet)

BeeFarseer · 12/04/2017 17:30

... And I'm back into it. Signed up to Oddsmonkey and I've done the 138.com opening offer. I've got a float of £200 behind me, which I reckon is enough to do two offers at a time until they clear, and it builds up a bit more.

Verticalvenetianblinds · 12/04/2017 17:31

Yeah, it does say that in the t and cs that I read throughly didn't read

FerdinandsRevenge · 12/04/2017 17:36

How are you all doing?

FerdinandsRevenge · 12/04/2017 17:36

(Wrong thread!Blush)

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/04/2017 17:38

Baby Where is the £100 to £1000 thread please?.

Thank you.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/04/2017 17:41

Ooh, I now have a spreadsheet so I feel prepared Grin

I plan to start Tuesday so will report back then (though will have questions in the meantime!)

Do you have problems with your bank at all, freezing your card, because they think you are making fraudulent transactions?

icclemunchy · 12/04/2017 17:45

I did this last year using bank of bets and earned about £150 over a month going slow.

Would like to get back into it leaning towards PA but is it worth it since I will have done at lot of the start up offers? Is the oddsmonkey better for none sign up offers?

Despite doing it for a while I don't really "get" it (part of the reason I don't want to use bank of bets again is I never learnt what I was doing just used the calculator!)

bonfireheart · 12/04/2017 18:03

I have no money, no laptop, no internet :( hopefully come pay day at the end of the month I will have all of these and can join in :)

MillieMoodle · 12/04/2017 18:18

Have been reading this thread with interest today as DH keeps banging on about matched betting. It sounds like something I could get into! He's about to take a career break so will have time to do it and I'm on mat leave at the moment so will hopefully have time to read up on it once the Easter hols are over. Fingers crossed I can get the hang of it. I just wondered how much it costs to sign up to Oddsmonkey and the other site someone mentioned up thread? Is it a one off fee or a monthly subscription?

MissFitton · 12/04/2017 18:28

For Profit Accumulator it's either £150 per year or £17.99 per month. I wouldn't like to try it without using one of them as it would be far too complicated otherwise!

Babyiwantabump · 12/04/2017 18:34

If you go to the team profit website he lists recommended bets daily and it has a calculator to work out your lay bet etc . He also talks you through every opening offer and then return offers - all this for free.

I'm going to see how I get on with just that website before signing up to anything

He does recommend signing up to odds monkey but I'm going to see how I get on using the free tools first !

Babyiwantabump · 12/04/2017 18:36

teamprofit.com/starting-with-100

£100 to £1000 step by step

Babyiwantabump · 12/04/2017 18:37

Oh dammit how do you do links ?

www.teamprofit.com/starting-with-100

BeeFarseer · 12/04/2017 18:39

Oddsmonkey is £15 per month, or £150 for the yearly subscription. They made the calculator that Profit Accumulator used to use, but then decided to provide their own service. I used to use PA but have gone with Oddsmonkey this time as I prefer their match finder and calculator.

Babyiwantabump · 12/04/2017 18:40

I found his video guides and worksheets a lot easier to understand- there is even a Facebook group !

MillieMoodle · 12/04/2017 19:10

Thanks all, will have a look at those Grin
