He was murdered at an Amway convention

darceybussell · 03/12/2016 11:52

I can't open that link Ladiva, could you try it again?

I've had a nosy at the Valentus compensation plan. There is tremendous excitement among the ex-LTW bots who are now selling skinny coffee because 'soooo many people are going emerald'. Wow, I thought, they must be doing really well.

I have attached their compensation plan - what do you have to do to 'go emerald'? Buy a $500 box of coffee, followed by three more $200 boxes of coffee. I'm really impressed, these must be such talented people!!

It was about the Murder of Ben Novack it was interesting.

MrGrumpy01 · 03/12/2016 22:27

It was my local Christmas fayre today and lo and behold a FL table in the corner.

I didn't dare stop as I walked past.

BSintolerant · 03/12/2016 23:21

Ladiva, that is very interesting. Novak's company organised Amway conventions. query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C02E0D91039F93AA35754C0A9669D8B63

Never thought I'd read an article which mentions network marketing and amputee porn. Takes all sorts! Hmm

dailyfailnotgoodenoughforchips · 05/12/2016 12:23

Hi folks,

I think I need your help?? I have lurked on these threads for ages, while posting elsewhere on the site sometimes.

I'm a vegan, and visited a VERY big vegan festival this weekend. I spotted at least two MLMs there (Arbonne and FL). Clearly this pyramid scheme bullshit is horrific enough, but how the fuck did they get into a vegan festival - an event about not exploiting animals, and therefore people! Very sad to find out that the Vegan Society has verified their products as vegan too, it's on the packaging!

I've tried to get in touch with the event organisers but the phone keeps ringing unanswered. I don't use social media and tbh the bots would probably sniff me out and pile in and rubbish what I'm trying to say. So... Thinking an email to the right person (there must be someone who vets the stalls) once I can get through and get their email address.

What do I say? Where do I begin?

Thank you in advance.

smiinky · 06/12/2016 13:25

why not send them a link to Timeless Vie? Do they have a social media presence as Im sure Timeless Vie would be able to help you? I have a vegan friend who confided in me that mlms are going all out to recruit in the vegan sphere. She has been prospected by Arbonne, FL and now Juice Plus! Some of her friends have been recruited. She added me to a vegan group on facebook so I could see for myself. It seems to me as if they have managed to trick some of the admin/organisers of some of these big groups. Arbonne being by far the most prolific followed by FL.

smiinky · 06/12/2016 13:26

FL isnt vegan either - for instance the bee pollen!

Twunk · 06/12/2016 15:16

We can help you write a letter I'm sure! And yes I am sure the point of being vegan is being ethical. Ain't nothing ethical 'bout MLM

Twunk · 06/12/2016 15:21

Dear event organisers

I was a visitor to x event last weekend [insert date] and I was troubled to note that you had representatives from at least 2 Multi-level marketing schemes.

I would like to draw your attention to the unethical business practices of such schemes, which are pyramid schemes in all but name, and why I strongly believe they have no place in the vegan community.

/Ok now feel free to add a para people or change what I've got. Work calls but will carry on later.

dailyfailnotgoodenoughforchips · 06/12/2016 15:54

Thanks for replying!

I spoke to someone from the festival on the phone - apparently Arbonne has had a stall there for YEARS and they haven't received a single complaint. The chap on the phone hadn't ever heard of MLMs. He was a bit arsey with me at one point, but that may be because I'm really nervous talking on the phone and come across daft.

I've been asked to send them a concise email of my points, which I understand. However, this is SUCH big topic.

Timeless vie links is a great idea but is that too vast an information source? I was thinking maybe of a youtube video but not sure which one. I really want to get this right, I'm really upset about it to be honest. MLMs are upsetting but the hypocrisy at a vegan event floors me.

The interesting thing he said was that Arbonne get great feedback about their products!
Also interesting - he did mention that "they" so perhaps Arbonne or FL, or both, had to be told to tone it down on the advertising/spamming of the events pages. Classic , eh? Spoke a lot about how the individuals running the stalls have always been lovely. I'm sure they are, poor souls.

Re: FL, he said as long as they are "vegan on the day" so musn't pedal any pollen stuff at these types of events.

Do you think the folks at Timeless Vie would help if I emailed? I don't use social media unfortunately (for times like this, happy not to otherwise Grin )

Sorry this post was so long.

dailyfailnotgoodenoughforchips · 06/12/2016 15:55

Just seen your last post Twunk, thank you!

dailyfailnotgoodenoughforchips · 06/12/2016 16:15

I've emailed the good folk of timeless vie for pointers too. I'm in a real flap about this, trying to count to ten!

I drafted an email to the Vegan Society as well, trying to choose resources to link to. I can find things that explain MLMs but they seem rather long/American. I'd like to find stories specifically about Arbonne and FL. Will go digging through the Timeless VIE facebook page now.

cozietoesie · 06/12/2016 16:20

Try botwatchblog as well. They have a Directory of MLMs which might be a useful source/provide you with some good links.

cozietoesie · 06/12/2016 19:42

Sorry - this is the link to botwatchblog. I should have given it to you.

dailyfailnotgoodenoughforchips · 06/12/2016 19:51

Don't worry, I had it Smile. Thanks for helping. Combing through link options around "real life" as and when I get the chance!

cozietoesie · 06/12/2016 20:40

Stay calm. Wink Trawling through botwatchblog might get you 'aerated' all over again!

Twunk · 07/12/2016 08:20

I see a certain top bot is STILL banging on about the "online bullying" Hmm really milking it for what it is worth.

I tend to find that the people who cry "bully" the loudest are often known for that behaviour themselves #justsayin'

I know I should resist posting this but it winds me up when con artists play the victim card, not giving a shit about the victims of their scamalamadingdongs. It's all money in the bank.

Spongebobette · 07/12/2016 08:40

Oh yes I saw that Twunk

It's outrageous

Twunk · 07/12/2016 08:45

Global fucking mentor my arse

Spongebobette · 07/12/2016 09:05

And the LOOK AT ME at the hairdressers, in the car, at a success day, on my sofa etc etc. A constant parade of selfies

When her husband is in the photo he can't quite manufacture the same 'look' though, he always seems slightly embarrassed

BSintolerant · 07/12/2016 13:45

Since when has calling out bullshit classed as online bullying?

Why do bots post selfies in the hairdressers? Does it imply that those of us who wouldn't touch MLM schemes with a barge pole can't and will never know what it's like to go to the hairdressers? Hmm
