One of my friends is a herbalife bot. She is constantly going on at me to join as she knows I don't have a lot of money. I'm running out of excuses to not go to her infomation event. It's really affecting or friendship. Any ideas on how I can handle it?

smiinky · 20/08/2016 23:03

You're gonna have to be honest. Tell her to take you off the wdyk list. I've got to the point where I'm really sick of being prospected. An old client of mine has just gone full metal bot and I can't believe it. If she asks you again, just say, 'please don't prospect me again, this isn't open for debate and its affecting our friendship'. was invited to a NY Organic event last night. I told the host I was away ( which is true) , but I blocked the bot who was holding it at my friends house, incase she starts prospecting the invite list. If I don't know them that well, I block them. I usually ghost anyone who prospects me, I don't respond to prospecting messages, I leave online parties. Inside I'm fuming though.

cozietoesie · 20/08/2016 23:05

Difficult one if you value and really want to retain the friendship.

Read this piece from BotWatchBlog. It may give you some fresh thoughts.

cozietoesie · 20/08/2016 23:10

You might also read this and some of the other pieces on the net to help you realise what sort of organisation you're dealing with.

I have a friend whose daughter has been diagnosed with a case of psoriasis. They're into it and she's getting the right treatment. Up pops Juice+ friend "our capsules are really good for skin conditions"

Medical claim - check
Abusing position as Facebook friend to make a fast buck - check
Suggesting something she believes has effects on your health (and remember everyone, there's no effects without side-effects!) to a five year old girl - check
Unironic use of the word "Hun" - check

They really are Juice+ Wankers aren't they? Angry

rayofhope · 21/08/2016 07:35

On a fb group recently, someone started a thread about FL. She wanted ideas of what to say to her friend that she just wasn't interested. I had a good read and up pops a FLbot. Talks about how she makes some money selling the products and doesn't understand how anyone loses money on this type of business and her upline are doing brilliant...... (of course they are, they are never going to tell you the horrific truth)

The reason why is she's only selling a few products and not trying to do her 4cc's each month as she doesn't have a team.

That's when you run into trouble. That's when you start having to 'be your best customer' and if you don't recruit one month and don't sell enough, then you're going to have to put your own money in to make sure you do your 4cc's. (don't forget though, that's your own fault because you didn't work hard enough that month)

On a brighter note, the amount of people commenting saying they were sick of being prospected was great. I liked reading some of the ideas of what to say to them.

Take note mlm adherents, this is thread no 25 for a reason. Your friends are sick and tired of it. Leave them alone. They do not want to join your team. Even if you are one of the well known ones, aren't you exhausted from it all?

*The above note also extends to the people you're prospecting while you're out and about. They do not want to be approached by a stranger either.

smiinky · 21/08/2016 09:08

My friend is a gym instructor, shes on the world and its wifes 'who do you know.' list. Shes really had enough of the hassle, she gets prospected constantly, usually by Juice plus wankers. I told her to join timeless vie, I think she feels like shes arrived home. Smile

rayofhope · 21/08/2016 09:17

Gym instructors, beauticians, equestrian people, vets. They're all great prospects for FL. Oh and don't forget your sahm. You're friend must be sick of it smiinky

CommonSenseIsNotAllThatCommon · 21/08/2016 10:53

My sister works in an ontology care role and was prospected. No doubt to pass this crap onto the people she cares for.
The brainwashing seems to remove any sort of decency and all the bots see is money money money.
SIL bought me some audio books for Christmas about having a positive mind. Nothing on them suggests its anything to do with MLM. They are deliberately packaged as some sort of self help for people in not a good place in their lives.

ONCOLOGY

cozietoesie · 21/08/2016 13:15

I'm not sure I agree with that, actually. I think that much depends - as to whether something resonates with you - on your emotional and psychological framework at the time. It's also important, I reckon, to remember that a sheer weight of propaganda (which is what it is in essence) can influence you if you have nothing else to act as a lodestone. There's not one person on this thread - or reading - that isn't, to my mind, capable of being 'hooked' in real life. You just have to find the right hook at the right point.

Of course, some people would be more difficult to hook than others. Wink

smiinky · 21/08/2016 13:42

I've got a Neals Yard bot, now. She's talking about her organic journey and binning all her non NYO toiletries for being non organic.
Wondering how long this sorry show will last for. Sigh.
I used to like Neals Yard but that they use the mlm method for direct selling is so depressing. I won't be buying their products again.

keeptheaspidistra · 21/08/2016 14:02

I thought of mlms when I previously read that article too in a clearing.
I get your point cozie I think we will all identify with the odd one and occasionslly sharing and liking the odd one doesn't make you stupid but I do wonder about the people who share 5+ a day EVERYDAY. (Being a complete saddo) I find it interesting to compare the people who relentlessly share inspirational gibberish to those who don't and there's a definite argument for a socioeconomic divide theory.
I unfollow these people (non mlm bots too- especially the blooming minion ones). I know a bot who makes up her own "inspirational" quotes with daft pictures, nonsensical crap. They were very inspiring. I was inspired to unfriend her.

BSintolerant · 21/08/2016 17:18

keepGrin

I was inspired to unfriend her.

keeptheaspidistra · 21/08/2016 18:04

I sound mean! But it was honestly just so embarrassing to read Blush
To be fair, she never used terrorist atrocities as a USP so she wasn't all bad

Spongebobette · 21/08/2016 18:50

My FL bot keeps posting positive memes and gung ho posts about being at home with her children during the holidays (so blessed) but isn't getting a SINGLE like. Not a one.

Spongebobette · 21/08/2016 18:52

Apparently the FL makeup 'isn't currently available' but my bot has lots in stock
Why's that then? Because she's being her own best customer?

Spongebobette · 21/08/2016 18:59

This is Arbonne in the US but what the actual fuck??

Same with mine but she also seems to be spending a lot of time meeting up with her team so presumably "being with her children/not having childcare problems" involves dragging them around with her in the car to various random houses, cafes and meeting rooms.

ForeverYazoonique · 21/08/2016 22:27

Most "inspirational" memes are pretty meaningless or trite.

And I am very fond of Minions who are essentially egocentric sociopaths... so I have no idea why they are considered great meme material.

googlepoodle · 21/08/2016 23:06

Can I ask those in the know - do you think those at Sapphire type positions in FL are making decent incomes?

forevercrass · 21/08/2016 23:46

It depends. Once you get to a position like manager you think you will be earning a steady, good income but I achieved manager position with a massive push and then I didn't have a manager business. A sapphire manager has 9 manager legs beneath them. BUT If those are just people at manager position without the great manager business then an extra 1% of nothing is well nothing. They only get their gem bonus once all their manager legs are manager active (12cc) too.

BSintolerant · 21/08/2016 23:53

sponge Are the special needs Arbot mamas trying to tell us that they're mamas with special needs? Wink

BSintolerant · 22/08/2016 00:02

googlepoodle Have you read Merchants of Deception? That blows the lid on what happened to Ambots who reached the level of certain gemstones. Everybody thought the emeralds were earning a six-figure salary when in reality they were barely making ends meet. Some appeared to be making money out of mindset tapes and training which they bullied their downlines into buying.

It's all smoke and mirrors, fur coat no knickers, and blowing the aforementioned smoke up eachother's bare arses at so called success days.

Carry on Sizzling. Grin
