Still going strong here at bot watch HQ on MN!

Previous thread here

Botwatch on Wordpress and on Facebook

Timeless Vie on Wordpress and on Facebook

Eyespeying's Blog aka #manhun, even if he's been banned by MNHQ

Hommetepreneur on Facebook

We have our own regularly returning bots.

Glossary:

Bots: our affectionate name for victims of the MLM racket

MLM: Multi-level Marketing schemes - essentially pyramid schemes that are just legal because you sell a product. Reliant upon constant recruitment despite there not being enough people in the world to go beyond about 12 levels if everyone recruited 6.

Downline/Upline: the people you recruited and those who recruited you (going up and down the pyramid inverted funnel)

Timeless Vie: Parody of MLM schemes (though you might spot one in particular) that also carries out fearless investigative work

Hommetrepreneur: also excellent parody site focussing on the menz

BotWatch: Rather more serious, keeps an eye on what the Bots are claiming next, particularly in reference to health and income claims. Also fearless.

Inverted Funnel: Timeless Vie is NOT a pyramid - it's an inverted Funnel, OK?

Eyes: Our former member Eyespying who knows LOTS about MLM schemes. He's still our very own #manhun.

Interesting article mrgrumpy - although you do have to persevere through first three paras which read like pure "pro-mlm" pr - interesting tactic to lure bot's into reading further?

crumpetsfortea37 · 15/05/2016 08:21

Also thought this info from the article was worth repeating....

"Whether you call it team building or “stepping out of your comfort zone,” the problem with recruiting is that eventually, you run out of people. Many MLMs tell consultants they just need to recruit two people to make their business work, because then those people will each find two more recruits, and so on. But the “just get two” plan doesn’t account for the high drop-out rate with MLMs; investigations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and research by FitzPatrick have shown that with many companies, anywhere from 50 to 90 percent of consultants quit after their first year. FitzPatrick has studied 500 such businesses over the past 15 years and concludes that consultants need a team of at least 200 people under them to keep the business sustainable. “Any fewer and the constant rate of attrition will wipe you right out,” he notes.

And building your own team of 200 is nearly impossible because the MLM model reaches market"

crumpetsfortea37 · 15/05/2016 08:27

Sorry - last sentence should read ....
"And building your own team of 200 is nearly impossible because the MLM model reaches market saturation quickly"

cozietoesie · 15/05/2016 09:24

'Fluffing' keeps spirits up. MLMs have to do it.

Always look at the underlying facts. Smile

TwatbadgingCuntfuckery · 15/05/2016 09:31

I always thought fluffing was a term used in porn - to keep the chaps erect between takes. I guess it fits with MLMs. Grin

cozietoesie · 15/05/2016 09:35

I'll grant you that the term has several meanings - that wasn't the one I had in mind though. Grin

This is a family thread, after all. Wink

stopfaffing · 15/05/2016 10:12

That's why they are encouraged now to look abroad for new downlines, because they've saturated the market in the uk.

Twunk · 15/05/2016 11:38

Oh and here's the article it links to

www.parents.com/parenting/work/direct-sales-the-truth-about-selling-from-home/

cozietoesie · 15/05/2016 11:51

Thanks, Twunk.

BSintolerant · 15/05/2016 11:53

Fluffing keeps more things up than spirits!😂😂

Makes me wonder what exactly goes on (or down) at these sizzles ...

cozietoesie · 15/05/2016 11:54

BSintolerant · 15/05/2016 11:55

Forever Fluffing! 😂😂🙈

BSintolerant · 15/05/2016 11:57

Yes cozie: what would the family think?

Mrshumblepants · 15/05/2016 12:01

I think timeless vie needs to host a 'fluffing' event! The teamies have been a bit flaccid recently since the PP allocations changed...

cozietoesie · 15/05/2016 12:03

I think I'll have to go and have lunch before I say anything else......unfortunate. Grin

BSintolerant · 15/05/2016 12:05

mrsh Grin

They just can't keep it up, can they? 😂😂

BSintolerant · 15/05/2016 12:06

cozie Enjoy your lunch. I hope you don't find it too hard to swallow. 😉

Mrshumblepants · 15/05/2016 12:12

twunk could it be worth hooking up with the author of this great article to do some cross linking? I think the more cross linking we can do, the more it gets the message out there, and the more it emboldens others to come forward to say how utterly fucked off they are with this crap. Safety in numbers and all that...

Last? Toobusy? You might have some thoughts on this?

Currently criticism of these scams is behind closed doors and hush hush so as not to upset anyone, (and believe me Bots, its really happening) or incur the kind of crap from bots we see here on a regular basis, this needs to stop, people shouldnt feel guilted into going to parties they dont want to attend and buying shit they dont want or cant afford to appease the botfriend or relative. They should feel confident to say no because the anti mlm message is strong and loud.

Mrshumblepants · 15/05/2016 12:15

Hey bs its important to keep wanking that cactus... Got to keep all the bots excited ;-)

Bit of fluffing never hurt anyone did it?

😉😉🍆

Mrshumblepants · 15/05/2016 12:19

If the fluffing is unsuccessful there are apparently other ways to protect against aloe droop...

BSintolerant · 15/05/2016 12:24

mrsh 😂😂

I will put my Timeless Vie wank mitten to good use. Got to keep bot morale up somehow!

TwatbadgingCuntfuckery · 15/05/2016 13:03

Funny you mention aloe droop. I'm going to repot and over enthusiastically stroke mine. It's got a bit too big for its pot.

On the upside if I continue to successfully grow aloe ol' Rexy may have some Competition Wink

Spongebobette · 15/05/2016 13:31

Thanks for posting those articles Twunk, v good

Spongebobette · 15/05/2016 13:41
