Still going strong here at bot watch HQ on MN!

Previous thread here

Botwatch on Wordpress and on Facebook

Timeless Vie on Wordpress and on Facebook

Eyespeying's Blog aka #manhun, even if he's been banned by MNHQ

Hommetepreneur on Facebook

We have our own regularly returning bots.

Glossary:

Bots: our affectionate name for victims of the MLM racket

MLM: Multi-level Marketing schemes - essentially pyramid schemes that are just legal because you sell a product. Reliant upon constant recruitment despite there not being enough people in the world to go beyond about 12 levels if everyone recruited 6.

Downline/Upline: the people you recruited and those who recruited you (going up and down the pyramid inverted funnel)

Timeless Vie: Parody of MLM schemes (though you might spot one in particular) that also carries out fearless investigative work

Hommetrepreneur: also excellent parody site focussing on the menz

BotWatch: Rather more serious, keeps an eye on what the Bots are claiming next, particularly in reference to health and income claims. Also fearless.

Inverted Funnel: Timeless Vie is NOT a pyramid - it's an inverted Funnel, OK?

Eyes: Our former member Eyespying who knows LOTS about MLM schemes. He's still our very own #manhun.

Mrs That's a shame as he really has it spot on in that video. Maybe he misunderstood the point of Timeless Vie. His video does show that there is momentum behind the movement to shame and expose MLMs. People are frustrated by the bullshit.

stopfaffing · 19/05/2016 17:00

I've messaged Richie about that and he thought it was spam posts (he gets a lot of them). I explained what we were about and left links. He is hoping to do a FL video when he has a moment as he really hates them Grin.

Twunk · 19/05/2016 17:46

Oh well done Stop - I'd like to see that one Grin

Twunk · 19/05/2016 17:52

Gotta hate love Forever Living - "we weren't asked to comment on the article" when they were quoted in the article!

When approached by the Mail, a Forever Living spokesman denied pressure was put on FBOs, saying: 'The company would never encourage this. Many people join Forever as a route to escape the pressures of traditional working environments.

'The philosophy is such that it would never pressure people to buy products or join the business.'

Twunk · 19/05/2016 17:59

For those wondering, FLUK released a statement to their bots saying that they were not asked to comment on the article. Head over to Timeless Vie if you want to see the whole statement.

noyouarenotalifestylecoach · 19/05/2016 18:00

The official stance from FLP is not to comment at all and contact them immediately if the media gets in touch.

Apparently the article makes "false claims" and one sided, which is quite rich. Apparently the only side you can hear is the one where they shit unicorns after downing 8 gallons of grassy-jizz.

All I seem to see is thousands of people agreeing with what these threads have been saying all along. It's great to see that the vast majority have their eyes and minds open.

Mrshumblepants · 19/05/2016 18:03

Yes that statement snafu alert is fascinating twunk I wonder if they are going to try and put the thumb screws on mumsnet again? Sorry FLPUK you cannot silence this, its FREE speech and based on facts that are provable....

Mrshumblepants · 19/05/2016 18:09

Antonia Hoyle I hope you are reading this, well done for that article, I hope you plan to dig deeper, as there is much, much more below that surface, dont bow to the pressure and threats, this is of significant public interest and its about time Forever and all these other dodgy schemes were called to account once and for all... Please though, can you help by also directing your readers/supporters to these threads and Timeless vie/Botwatch so that the message can grow and we can gain backing for a revision/fresh look at the currently vague laws governing these types of companies.

Twunk · 19/05/2016 18:26

Loving the comments under the DM article. Will be wasting plenty of time tonight reading through them.

Mrshumblepants · 19/05/2016 20:24

Oh those Daily mail comments are pure gold! Our regular visiting full metal bots are not going to like it! Names are out there!
😱😱

chesarasara · 19/05/2016 20:27

Could someone link the DM article again, just in case anyone's not seen it yet Wink

Bovnydazzlers · 19/05/2016 20:54

FL statement
'Please be assured we are taking appropriate remedial action, and will do everything we can to protect Forever and business owners'

Their lawyers won't be getting much sleep tonight...

darceybussell · 19/05/2016 21:00

I'd be surprised if there's much in that article the lawyers can go at as its mostly just factual stuff about FL with some people's experiences. Even if they do find something the Mail will just print a teeny weeny retraction on about page 45 in several weeks time.

chesarasara · 19/05/2016 21:01

I think the horse has already bolted FL, nice try though.

cozietoesie · 19/05/2016 21:14

Some people are just very photogenic - almost worth considering for television or documentary treatment in fact. Smile

DayToDayGlobalShit · 19/05/2016 21:21

Reading through the comments and FL etc all getting a mighty roasting. It could be an MN thread. Has reached 1,200 comments.

worcestersauce29 · 19/05/2016 21:26

forgive me for I have sinned as in the nun in the sound of music lol

worcestersauce29 · 19/05/2016 21:39

poor kids.......... but due to their parents actions I'm thinking that there may be a few more places available at some local schools anytime soon

LMGTFY · 19/05/2016 21:48

Remedial action is not legal action. Remedial suggests they're trying to find a way to fluff this. Note they make no argument about the facts in the article either. While they come up with the right mindset training to cover this they're buying time by telling their bots to contact them instead of considering an outside balanced view. 2 popular newspapers first time I've supported dm targeting different markets have covered this in quick succession, there's more to come I'm sure.

Sean1984 · 19/05/2016 21:52

Ha,i put up the RH fitness video on Rebelfit facebook page, thought it fitted in perfectly!!! Saw on these threads first thou, still think its bloody brillant!

The article has been shared on facebook thousands of times. excellent coverage .

cozietoesie · 19/05/2016 21:55

And for those joining the thread at this point, here's a re-link to an excellent BotWatch piece.

people who care about you are worried

cozietoesie · 19/05/2016 22:47

And the excellent Timeless Vie.

'The Fear' is well worth reading.

prettyusefulsometimes · 19/05/2016 22:48

Hurrah! Clear and concise article. A good start. Have spent a very pleasant 20 mins clicking on various up and down arrows - had to do it with my right eye shut though so the sidebar of shame didn't give me the rage.

Would love to know what proportion of last year's 900,000 product orders were to customers wholly unconnected to FL.

Keep up the good work Timeless Vie and BotwatchStarWineSmile
