Still going strong here at bot watch HQ on MN!

Previous thread here

Botwatch on Wordpress and on Facebook

Timeless Vie on Wordpress and on Facebook

Eyespeying's Blog aka #manhun, even if he's been banned by MNHQ

Hommetepreneur on Facebook

We have our own regularly returning bots.

Glossary:

Bots: our affectionate name for victims of the MLM racket

MLM: Multi-level Marketing schemes - essentially pyramid schemes that are just legal because you sell a product. Reliant upon constant recruitment despite there not being enough people in the world to go beyond about 12 levels if everyone recruited 6.

Downline/Upline: the people you recruited and those who recruited you (going up and down the pyramid inverted funnel)

Timeless Vie: Parody of MLM schemes (though you might spot one in particular) that also carries out fearless investigative work

Hommetrepreneur: also excellent parody site focussing on the menz

BotWatch: Rather more serious, keeps an eye on what the Bots are claiming next, particularly in reference to health and income claims. Also fearless.

Inverted Funnel: Timeless Vie is NOT a pyramid - it's an inverted Funnel, OK?

Eyes: Our former member Eyespying who knows LOTS about MLM schemes. He's still our very own #manhun.

Twatbadging there seems to be an increase in this method of botting. I recently followed a local fitness page, to see whether they had any interesting programmes, all seemed well until the inspirational memes started and several likes for the usual training and coaching charlatans. It was all a front for botting.

I know Richie Howden isn't to everyone's taste but this is one of his major bugbears. They're everywhere it seems and there's nothing they won't do to try and sell/recruit but then that's because the market is over developed. Also noticed a bot "friend" of this thread has started a blog - one bit of social media i don't often explore as there's so much "hidden" selling.

TwatbadgingCuntfuckery · 18/05/2016 09:25

I have noticed the blog selling too pretty Its scary just how easy it is to advertise this rubbish.

It is getting taken down from selling groups just as quickly as its posted.

Also who's good at video stuff?

That 'feels' American - from the language.

Do adherents borrow most everything?

cozietoesie · 18/05/2016 11:13

It's the use of the word 'dang' in particular. I've not seen that word used in the UK.

FelicityLemon · 18/05/2016 11:29

prettyuseful your comment about hidden selling reminded me of this I'd seen linked on another site. It's not specifically about mlm but this blogger has some harsh words about 'mommy blogging' and commercial interests and about how there can be quite a bit of financial outlay for the blogger josidenise.com/dear-mommy-blogger/

WindyTriller · 18/05/2016 12:33

Is it wrong that I'm excited that I have my first brand new FL bot since I started reading these threads?! I had a number of established bots but looking forward, in a macabre kind of way, to seeing how is unfolds.

cozietoesie · 18/05/2016 13:36

I hope she's not someone you liked?

cozietoesie · 18/05/2016 16:57

Have you been invited to anything yet?

WindyTriller · 18/05/2016 19:02

She's just an acquaintance who is a low-ish paid job so can see the appeal I guess and why she would end up being targeted. She's always posting about saving up for things and being careful with money.

She's already had someone comment on her status wishing her luck and asking her to make sure she doesn't steal her customer! Smacks of desperation!

Not been invited to anything yet. Will keep you posted!

Have just seen a hilarious post on Facebook calling out Juiceplus Grin

thatoneindoors · 18/05/2016 20:51

My bot has qualified for the FL Eagles' Managers Retreat today. I'm sure there are plenty of you experiencing the blah blah blah on FB too. I presume they pay towards this retreat and not the "freebie" they quote?

cozietoesie · 18/05/2016 21:18

I just don't know the exact proportions of who pays and what they might get - but you can be darned sure that the organisation isn't going to be out of pocket over it. Wink

stopfaffing · 18/05/2016 21:35

Bumping that's a great link Smile. It's good to know we are not alone in fighting back against stupidly dangerous 'healthy' 'clean' scammy MLM claims and advice.

DoTheMLMHustle · 18/05/2016 22:45

This article is a good one about Thrive patches, these areas new one to me

bumping That's brilliant! I doubt the author will have to put his nuts in the Nutella though! Grin

Libitina · 19/05/2016 05:53

I just came to post that too. Grin

chesarasara · 19/05/2016 05:55

Poor Candice in that article, we've heard a story just like hers a thousands times now.

DayToDayGlobalShit · 19/05/2016 06:45

Grin Also came to post the same

CamelsAndMaus · 19/05/2016 06:55

Sorry guys, I have the time difference advantage on you!

I thought it was a pretty good piece TBH (and I'm no Daily Fail fan).

Obviously it didn't delve too deeply but hopefully it might make some people stop and think and it did bring up the connection with the Mormon church.

CAM

DayToDayGlobalShit · 19/05/2016 06:58

There will be many man comments under that article.

DayToDayGlobalShit · 19/05/2016 07:00

many many comments I mean!

darceybussell · 19/05/2016 07:03

The bots did try and hijack that article when they were asking for people to come forward (and obviously whined that it needed to be 'balanced') but the journalist had obviously made up her mind. Bots, the point is that she IS the balance, you're all over the bloody pace providing your side!

darceybussell · 19/05/2016 07:04

rayofhope · 19/05/2016 07:11

Interesting in the article that they say only 20% of revenue is from recruiting. Would love to know how they come up with that figure. I don't believe it's only 20%.
