15000 posts hun!!!! You are a proper MLMer, just plucking a number out of thin air 😘

throwingpebbles · 16/03/2016 06:49

And that's not counting all the other forums where similar discussions are going on by totally separate groups of people, I like to go and have a nosy around the internet sometimes! I don't know why we get so much attention, there are plenty of others saying the same thing...

exLtEveDallas · 16/03/2016 07:04

Oh my god. I have watched these threads with amusement, but never taken part as whilst having one FL as a friend, she didn't do any hard sell (she's got a second FB page for that I believe, but I don't follow it).

However, the last few days she's been sharing posts from one of the people you mentioned and is now on a full on 'believe in yourself hun' 'don't let the bullies get you down' 'bullies are scared of your success hun' mode.

There's talk of conferences, holidays and lots of hashtags.

Bloody hell. I've known her for 2 years and this is the first time I've seen this side of her. Mind. Blown.

Bovnydazzlers · 16/03/2016 07:04

Going to stick to my pension and pay thanks.

Interesting, I think. Smile

crumpetsfortea37 · 16/03/2016 07:42

bovny I particularly like "3-5 years to retire" does anyone on here know anyone who has successfully retired from an mlm and lived off those elusive residual earnings".

stopfaffing · 16/03/2016 07:42

Morning! Thanks for starting new thread, Dolly.

It's all been rather surreal, because we have been accused of stalking, bullying behaviour by bots who do this themselves in order to promote their business.

Stalking: targeting people to 'befriend' with the intention of using them and their own fb friends to further their 'business' i.e. make their monthly CCs.

Bullying: intimidating downlines and blaming them if they are not being successful, ultimately ostracising them when they fail. Horrible behaviour.

How do we know this? We have read upsetting accounts from ex-bots, that's how. Have a look at the TV page. Some of them are posting on this forum too.

If any bots who are heavily involved in public self-promotion (attraction marketing) on social media (fb for example) are concerned about their personal details being known by strangers, they must immediately make all their public information private so no-one except select family and friends (real friends, not bot friends (who are not real friends at all, only for as long as you are useful to them).

We actually discussed this subject a few threads ago I remember, and we offered advice about not publishing identifying information about yourself, home, children, activities. It is common sense not to publish things on a public platform without first checking that they make you vulnerable.

I have a private fb page for family/friends but even so never post information about holidays or days out even (or how much money I make Hmm). You just never know who might be reading it.

We can't mention names or even initials identifying someone who is posting on a public arena something untrue, for example making false medical claims in order to persuade a desperate/ill person to buy very overpriced, unproven, maybe even dangerous gloop in the hope it will make them better.

We can publicly warn them to remove those posts (BotWatch), we can complain to fl HO (in the past this made absolutely no difference and our complaints were ignored but this was before we began campaigning effectively), we can complain to the ASA, we can screenshot too. We do all this and it is now making a difference. The ST article has helped too. All the little things are making a difference one step at a time.

The fact that we are being accused of bullying and stalking is proof that people involved in this scam are very worried. They will not be able to make their accusations stick because we have evidence of real bullying and stalking behaviour that they are doing to prospective victims and their downlines. They should be very worried.

We are having an effect people. Lets keep going and posting evidence that we find of illegal claims, lies and deceit from all MLM companies.

Thanks to everyone one has so far contributed their stories, please keep them coming, lets build up the evidence of MLM bullying behaviours.

Twunk · 16/03/2016 07:51

Hi exLtEve!

Well it's in their interests to peddle this line - nothing like having an enemy to pull the troops together.

I just wish they'd decide if we were washed-up jealous old harpies OR we have mafia-like powers of violence and control. It can't be both surely? If we are an irrelevance to their wonderful businesses surely it's better not to keep drawing attention to this thread? After the Sunday Times article we were assured that there is no such thing as bad publicity - does that also apply to this thread?

crumpetsfortea37 · 16/03/2016 07:51

Translation for non mlmers....
Self employed - that means no employment rights, maternity/holiday or sickness leave. No bank holidays. No expenses paid for by the company. Look after your own tax affairs at your own cost.
Unlimited income (you decide) - actually this means no-salary, 100% commission basis. You pay for car/petrol/subsistence etc (v few sales rep jobs are this harsh these days)
Security (long term in your control) - no, they can fire you at any time, no security of income month to month - whole down lines can and do collapse in a matter of weeks) you can't borrow against this income for mortgage (that is because banks know it is not secure..
Etc etc - a full translation of this page would make a brilliant timeless vie addition
Sorry for long post

cozietoesie · 16/03/2016 07:54

Now this is probably going to sound a little fanciful but can anyone explain to me - simply - what the MLM use of hashtags is designed to achieve?

Apart from bonding that is.

It just seems like 'stream of consciousness' behaviour run riot in some people and I'm loathe to use them on that basis. Grin

cozietoesie · 16/03/2016 08:00

I use the word 'consciousness' advisedly of course.Smile

HeffalumpHistory · 16/03/2016 08:28

Just found a link to this thread on another page

I have a forever living pedlars on fb & old acquaintance trying to sign me up to the Arbonne cult. I've always been very wary of these "cults" but this has really opened my eyes!

Eyespying · 16/03/2016 08:30

Many cheeses and Bond girl evenings ago, I tried to explain to MN members that, when challenged, the most deluded 'MLM' Bots will go to extreme lengths to protect their inverted, paranoid world of make-believe.

In the mid 1990s, a French 'Amway' spin off, 'le Groupement,' was bankrupted after it received extensive press exposure and was sued by 300 former adherents. The adherents were gathered by a cult advice association, ADFI, and a consumer protection association.

One afternoon, approximately 1500 core 'Groupement' Bots descended on the ADFI office in Paris and held a violent protest. They forced the door and invaded the office, holding staff hostage for several hours. They carried reality-inverting placards which said 'hands off our business, ADFI is the cult,' etc. A senior ADFI volunteer, Mathieu Cossu, was forced make a video statement that 'Groupement' was not a cult.

Imagine 1500 self-righteous WWCs at your door posing as victims and screaming 'bully,' and you'll get the picture.

cozietoesie · 16/03/2016 08:37

Could anyone explain to me what the New Kid on the Block's 'Auto Delivery Programme' is? From some quick reading, it sounds awfully as if you sign on the dotted line and then automatically have to receive whatever package they send you every month, whether you can afford it want it or not.

Shurely not. Smile

throwingpebbles · 16/03/2016 08:44

Hello exlteve and heffalump

Smile
throwingpebbles · 16/03/2016 08:45

eyes is that you saying "I told you so!" ? Grin

PercyPigTheSecond · 16/03/2016 08:52

Hi all! I started a thread in chat about this. I'm sick of being 'sold' stuff, except I don't buy any I just walk away. But I am concerned about more vulnerable people being pushed into buying things, eg a shy mum in the playground who was persuaded to buy lots of make up.

cozietoesie · 16/03/2016 08:54

Welcome, Percy. Smile And that is all too common a story, I fear. Sad

cozietoesie · 16/03/2016 08:59

Sorry, Eye. I fear my French is a bit rusty. I got as far as ' une forme d'escroquerie ' and then had to 'retire hurt'. Grin

prettyusefulsometimes · 16/03/2016 09:01

Thread 15 - excellent work. Good idea to have a link to Bot/MLM myth busting sites on every page of this thread.

Toobusytowee your latest BotWatch blog post is absolutely brilliant - it got a bit lost last night

Why Forever Living Don't Sell Aloe Vera Products For Health Purposes
botwatchblog.wordpress.com/

The vile bit of Ariix propaganda came from an Ariix presentation to the public. Allegedly it was well attended - I can only hope that when presented with that disgusting "fact" most left and went home to watch First Dates.

workingwithchimps · 16/03/2016 09:05

Thank you Eyespying for your support - it is a typical action that a bully will constantly use repetitive and abusive behaviour towards their victims - some will claim their victims were or are deluded - try to pose supposed "evidence" against them - showing the world how justified they were in their bullying rhetoric .....

Eyespying · 16/03/2016 09:11

throwingpebbles Yes and no. Without wishing to cause alarm, I feel that I should warn MN members about just how paranoid, and potentially dangerous, certain 'MLM' Bots can become; particularly, if the continued existence of their delusion becomes threatened.

At first, certain MN members thought I must be exaggerating when I tried to explain my own nightmare experience with my 'Ambot' family.

Remember, I was trying to protect my family from the 'Amway' racketeers, but the last time I went to my mother's home, she threatened to send for the police if I didn't leave. She truly believed that, by filing complaints against 'Amway' with the government, I was trying to destroy my brother's 'Business' out of jealousy. She also believed that I was under the influece of persons who she described as 'socialists' and 'anti-capitalists.' My mother quickly became violent and hysterical. I had to leave for fear that my she might have a heart attack and that I would be blamed. Later that day, I was briefly followed by my brother who wanted to make sure that I didn't return to my mother's home. At the time, virtually no one I knew could believe what was happening. In fact, most of my friends, thought I must be exaggerating. I couldn't find anyone who was prepared to help me, so I never returned to my mother's home and never saw her during the last 7 years of her life.

LMGTFY · 16/03/2016 09:11

Morning, I gave up last night with all the aggressive posts from people with nothing constructive to add. Despite the devastation of discovering I am apparently now "middle-aged" I shall continue to politely challenge this tragicomic cultic racket (drink up) and whilst I could never be accused of bullying, I'm sure some strange twist of desperate minds could accuse me of 'stalking' public Facebook pages to flag up non-compliance. Keep up the good work folks, I have a real job to be cracking on with now (the one that allows me to own a nice house in a nice area, and own a car that is presently 2 years past its best, but hey, it's all mine!).

Melaw21 · 16/03/2016 09:11

I think the general Consensus is to refocus and redouble our efforts on this thread to promote the message and keep adding links etc going forward. Happy to engage with those who are not aggressive, incoherent, threatening and just generally flaming. Any attempts to derail threads or intimidate members, should be ignored and reported to MNHQ going forward. Anyone who wishes to engage in a sensible and grown up debate, is more than welcome here! 😊 Bot or otherwise! Between us all, we have achieved massive things to prevent vulnerable people falling victim to these scams and in a very short space of time too! Recent events have more than highlighted this! onwards and upwards #viestars you are truly #amazeballs! And last, I still want a mug.... 😂

cozietoesie · 16/03/2016 09:11

My apologies. That should read 'While checking, I got as far as 'une forme d'escroquerie' and then......'

Smile
