Younique bot has just posted offering her wares!

Bovnydazzlers · 28/02/2016 21:56

This bot forgot cheques show words as well as digits, when she claimed that $494.14 (£250?) matches her old pay checks. Such blatant lies! (For disclosure:full Facebook pic showed zeros in the higher digits too, I couldn't fit it all on screen)

Rayofhope, I am Bot Watch.

NorbertDentressangle · 28/02/2016 22:37

My bot has been quite quiet this weekend apart from a prize draw/raffle that she was running.

She filmed herself pulling the winning ticket from a massive pile of .....about 6 names Hmm.

Seriously, she tries so hard but I can't see that she can be bringing in any money. The likes on her page are minimal (and usually just the hardcore fellow bots), she travels bloody miles each week to catch up with her teams but for what?

That comes close to hurting.

BSintolerant · 28/02/2016 23:18

ribbet your designs are brilliant! Grin

Would it be too much to ask for you to design a pair of magical parslaii pigeon knickers which change colour when the wearer has acquired sufficient VDs to reach a six-figure salary? Wink

BSintolerant · 28/02/2016 23:37

I knew a woman doing fl who took her daughter out of our village school and put them into a very expensive private school. She honestly believed that within a year she'd be making so much money that she would be able to afford the fees.

She'd made such a fuss when she took her daughter out of our school that when she realised that wouldn't be able to keep her in private, she felt that she couldnt come back without her jeopardising her 'business'' reputation so had to drive them miles to a different school and asked people to try to keep it quiet.

pootle - good grief. That's a very sorry tale.

How did people react to her extreme efforts to save face? It's awful to think that she got sucked into a bloody mlm scheme, felt so embarrassed and isolated that she didn't have the guts to say, "Do you know what? I've dropped a bollock with all this mlm scheme nonsense, I've been conned, and feel silly to have fallen for it. I'll put it down to experience and move on."

Sad

Tonight my Ariix bot has posted a video of some old bloke having this miracle cream patted into his wrinkles by another Ariix bot. She accompanied this video with lots of #amazing and #nowrinkles and #wow - but he didn't look any different to me. Either I'm blind or it's a case of Emperors New Clothes or something...

Toobusytowee · 29/02/2016 02:47

Morning Bot Watchers! Second blog post about health claims out now. This one shows how to tell if rules have been broken and what you can do about it.

Gimlet1984 · 29/02/2016 05:25

I found this list of top mlm companies by revenue which I thought was interesting. The shills in Forever Living always bang on about this supposed $2.6 billion dollar revenue but the list doesn't even have them making the top 50, they are right at the bottom with $100 million. This information (if accurate) would support the long-held view of the 2.6 billion amount being fabricated.

stopfaffing · 29/02/2016 05:55

That is an excellent and comprehensive article, tobusy and it explains very clearly to anyone reading it the responsibilities of people who sell the stuff and the safeguards of people buying it.

Perhaps a bot will let us see an up to date copy of the FL training manual so we can see any new wording about so-called "health benefits".

1gorgeousson · 29/02/2016 07:27

A bot advertising on our local Facebook selling page is a mumsnet dream. Bot and maker of glittered glasses and bottles. #bossbabe

Eyespying · 29/02/2016 07:32

Gimlet1984 When they've not been scrutinised too closely, 'MLM' front companies have also tended to include the adherents' theoretical, but largely-non-existent, 'retail profit' when making inflated public declarations about their revenues.

crumpetsfortea37 · 29/02/2016 07:53

Another really great blog post toobusy - proving the power of MN (and parslaii too of course)

darceybussell · 29/02/2016 08:12

That's exactly what forever living do Eyes, they bang on about their 2014 turnover being £75 million, but it wasn't, it was £58 million. Turns out the £75m is 'retail value' - so just a made up number then!

cozietoesie · 29/02/2016 08:15

Excellent blog posts toobusy. Smile

Eyespying · 29/02/2016 08:41

darceybussell It's all been copied from the 'Amway' original.

Notice also how these absurd lies have been repeated so often, that the financial media has reported them as the truth, but then (for decades), the financial media kept saying that Bernie Madoff ran the world's largest and most profitable hedge fund. Indeed, even after he was caught and jailed, virtually the entire media still kept saying that Bernie Madoff had run a 50+ billion dollar Ponzi scheme. Yet this is BS.

In reality, the financial media included all the fictitious 'profits' which Madoff claimed to have earned on behalf of his victims, and whom he'd referred to as 'investors.'

Madoff's victims all falsely believed they owned a share of a constantly- expanding $50+ billions hedge fund, not only because Madoff kept saying so on valueless pieces of paper which he'd printed out himself, but because it kept saying so in publications like the Wall St. Journal and Financial Times.

Incredibly, many people still trust the demonstrably gullible clowns who form the financial media and who have been repeating reporting the 'Herbalife/MLM' finacial fairy story with an equal lack of intellectual rigour.

cozietoesie · 29/02/2016 08:57

It's the old story. People tend to believe what they read/see in the media until it's something of which they have personal knowledge - when they suddenly see the 'holes'.

And afterwards, they tend to revert to belief all over again. Sad

Toobusytowee · 29/02/2016 09:02

Thanks for the nice comments about the blog posts.

Gimlet, that is a really good find about the financial side of things. I feel a new blog post coming up about the reality vs what the bots say/are told. Might get some potential recruits and new members to think twice?

Send me any screenshots of recruitment ads and the worst one with the best lies can feature in the blog and be scrutinised until everyone can see how stupid it all is. I'd like to put ads on from a few different MLMs.
