So, is it a good substitute for fresh? And in the freeze drying process are any vitamins lost or depleted?

If it's so good then why not sell it in the shops? I'm totally put off by it and will never use the products even if you are saying they are good. They are extremely expensive (and actually if they were sold in shops the price would be cheaper as they wouldn't be trying to pay everyones upline out of it)

willdo do you use the products yourself?

Willdoitinaminute · 27/02/2016 17:46

I really don't know. The only research I have seen was to do with gums. The team were very excited by the potential for nutrition becoming part of the treatment pathway. They only used Juice Plus because it allowed them to control the dietary content of their subjects. I presume their choice was based on evidence that freeze drying did not alter the nutritional value.

cozietoesie · 27/02/2016 17:49

Well of course parslaii is effective, Wild. Good grief. Grin

Willdoitinaminute · 27/02/2016 17:54

When I first saw the potential I did try to get hold of some but couldn't work out how it was being sold. This was a number of years ago. I opted to force feed my family broccoli and brassicas instead. So glad I didn't follow it further. I'm sure there are other similar supplements out there being sold legitimately. At the scientific presentation of the research paper I attended the advice was a good whole food diet rather than supplements.

Willdoitinaminute · 27/02/2016 17:55

And of course Parslaii!

I see a lot of people online who seem to take the shakes, Fruit, Berry and Veg blend capsules and the boosters.

Looks like (from the website) you have to sign up for 4 months (4 payments) as a customer. So if I wanted to take all these (as recommended by the reps) this is how much it will cost you

Shakes - 4 x £32.50
Capsules (all 3) - 4 x £57.75
Boosters - 4 x £19.50

That little lot is going to cost me £109.75 PER MONTH! (for 4 payments) so nearly £450 altogether. Thats insane.

DayToDayShit · 27/02/2016 18:00

Totally insane. You could buy good quality organic fruit and veg for that. They are eating food as well, so that is an awful lot of money just on supplements. Imagine your outlay for usual shop plus JP

DayToDayShit · 27/02/2016 18:01

What is in a Booster I wonder? More fruit and veg?

rayofhope · 27/02/2016 18:35

Day it's got something in it called glucomannan which is apparently a natural fibre that expands its volume in the stomach.

crumpetsfortea37 · 27/02/2016 19:27

What I do not understand is why "natural" is seen as synonymous with "beneficial". Digitalis is natural, so is deadly nightshade, so are the various fungi you may come across. Just because something is natural does not mean it is not toxic or can be taken safely with (or, heaven help us, instead of) prescribed medications

Ribbet8890 · 27/02/2016 19:45

i can't keep up! heading back to page 1 of this thread !

bettyberry · 27/02/2016 21:03

New bot tactic. Don't mention the company and tag 50 people in the post

Its hardly natural though is it? I wouldn't want to chug down a load of soya powder and that much sugar everyday. It's processed isn't it? I used to take Berocca (the Lidl knock off of it anyway), but It has artificial sweetener, so I've started having a squeezed orange and a multivitamin instead. I do not want any coloured powders and certainly not at over £100 a month!

prettyusefulsometimes · 27/02/2016 21:19

A JP bot trying to hawk the children's chewables was my first experience of MLMs.

The migration of JP bots, who style themselves as nutritionists on their personal and "business" pages, to Ariix, looks to be a natural progression. And natural is the operative word, JP bots are obsessed with clean eating, natural remedies, chemical free, additive free etc, etc co-opting a wider trend in healthy living. Ariix have similar obsessions, with the skin care/hair care range in particular emphasised as being chemical free.

As has been mentioned so many times it's a cliché, who are these people who one day worked in a low skill 9-5 job (nothing wrong with that obvs) and the next after a couple of memes, a bit of crappy cut and paste, some leaflets and a couple of recipies featuring bloody coconut oil are advising me about my child's diet??

If I were being particularly tin-hat'ish could the MLM obsession with pure/natural/clean products be linked to the Mormon views with cleanliness:
The Word of Wisdom is a law of health revealed by the Lord for the physical and spiritual benefit of His children. On February 27, 1833, as recorded in section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants, the Lord revealed which foods are good for us to eat and which substances are not good for the human body. He also promised health, protection, knowledge, and wisdom to those who obey the Word of Wisdom ww.lds.org/topics/word-of-wisdom?lang=eng

See that's what I don't understand 'if you don't like the tag inbox me and I'll remove you from the list Smile' is that to say friends list? As in accept that I'm going to tag you in my posts or we will no longer be friends?

cozietoesie · 27/02/2016 21:47

I would assume so - and if people are concerned about that then the message might already be subconsciouly biting. (For some people, to be defriended,is a fate worse than death.)

Use Those Friends!

Tick Those Boxes!

bettyberry · 27/02/2016 23:14

No idea! A friend was tagged in the post so it popped up in my feed.

I agree with the unfreinding/deleting. For some it's a big social failure. Hard not to feel miffed because In real life friendships have obvious signs of faltering. Online it can be anything and in this case it could be a simple request not to be tagged and it really can feel like a gut punch.

I don't like the way it was presented. Tagging ensures people read it, it almost always guarantees a positive response and would guarantee queries from a good %, even if they were 'wtf!?' You've opened the convo and the selling can begin. Tagging is the sociala media form of junk mail.

NameChangeEr · 27/02/2016 23:17

And if you message them to be removed, you'll get a sales spiel back!

throwingpebbles · 27/02/2016 23:34

What's happened to eyes ???? Has a drug deal gone wrong?? Or is he just looking up new jokes

Powertotheparalai · 27/02/2016 23:42

cozietoesie · 27/02/2016 23:43

It's Saturday night, throwing. Give him a chance! Grin
