Thanks Ive learnt something new today lol xxxWink

MrGrumpy01 · 18/01/2016 07:03

To me, a sizzle, is a get together where people are told what to do and what they will be doing. I am sure I gave heard it being called in a certain blue themed supermarket.

MrGrumpy01 · 18/01/2016 07:27

But the concept of a sizzle in a business where you are apparently an 'independent business owner' and have 'no targets to meet' seems bizarre, because if they were true then you wouldn't need a manager telling you what to do that day.

bettyberry · 18/01/2016 08:55

I thought a sizzle was some hipster BBQ Hmm

Eyespying · 18/01/2016 09:12

'Sizzle sessions', 'sizzle lines' etc., are supposed to make 'MLM prospects' hot with excitement.

bettyberry · 18/01/2016 09:26

Sizzle is also a slang term for some drugs.

I've heard it used as an alternative to 'a grilling'

Still sounds like a hipster BBQ to me 😁Grin

Eyespying · 18/01/2016 09:45

bettyberry A 1930s ad-man, Elmer Wheeler, is supposed to have coined the line, 'sell the sizzle and not the steak.' This is highly appropriate for drug pushers and, evidently, it's also influenced cigarette pushers.

firstclassmlmtools.com/sizzle-sells-not-the-steak/

Siwi · 18/01/2016 10:14

At 'sizzles',:

'They break bread together and enjoy the fellowship'.

That sounds culty to me.

Siwi · 18/01/2016 10:16

But this lark does provide an instant social life and instant lovebombing affirming friends, or as they call it 'the forever family'.

Another cult characteristic.

Patzy85 · 18/01/2016 10:36

Hi everyone! Been lurking and just had to join in...

Sizzles are where these drones can get together and mull over business plans/ideas/aloe curing cancer and bring a friend to the slaughter sign up. The idea being that it's fun and informal but in reality it is a way that those further up the line can keep an eye on what profit they're bringing them. #prosecco #foreverfriends #lovethesegirls

I know a few people that have been well and truly sucked in to this now, I tend to find that these people already think very highly of themselves and it once involved it makes them even worse, the posts are insufferably narcissistic. #dreambig #livingthedream #entrepreneur

My basic understanding after only a small amount of research following a recent attempt to be recruited is you have to sell 4cc each month (that's roughly £600 - basically 2 lip glosses, right?) in order to make approx £200 HOWEVER you are expected and encouraged to spend 1cc (about £140) per month yourself, going through your own personal ID, as you have to 'be the brand' to get the most out of it.

You're expected to replace everything in your home with their products, use the make up, wear the perfume, dress like a giant aloe vera plant...

So after spending your 1cc you have around 60 quids worth of profit. Sixty quid!!! Take petrol costs, costs of training, sizzles, success days and you're easily out of pocket. And for what?? #freedom #sacktheboss #bossbabe

I get that they try to sell a lifestyle along with this junk, but even their car plan insentive is £300 a month and the holidays are only free is you consecutively sell (along with your downtime) HUGE amounts of overpriced green gunk. Exploitation at its finest.

Im so pleased there are so many switched on women and men out there that can see through this nonsense and hopefully prevent people being drawn in to this circus of lies! I can't help but despise the ones 'at the top' - the vile, repetitive lies and bragging - pushing a fake dream on to vulnerable people KNOWING that most will fail and lose money, blaming them for not working hard enough.

Also, another gripe, they say it isn't work, it's sooooo easy, you can earn thousands per month for only 6 hours work per week..... Then say it only works if you do, you have to put the effort in to build it, good things don't come easy. They do this to spend time with their family.... But are ALWAYS with their team at weekends and evenings when most mums are spending time with their family!! So which is it?!?

The lies, contradictions, endless selfies, eye roll inducing hashtags, cleansing/starving, motivation quotes... I'm so done with it!

If you do this and you're reading this STOP BEING CRINGEY! And you don't own a business, you're not a coach and you look ridiculous. If you can do well at this you're a horrible person. May as well sell your soul.

Eyespying · 18/01/2016 10:46

Team Sizzle Dec 2015 - some of the confessions in this recent 'FLP' video are quite astonishing.

After approximately 1 minute 10 seconds, the first speaker says:

'get good at listening then sooner or later you'll find a way to entrap the people'

2 minutes 45 seconds:

What I strongly suggest is get yourself dolled-up and get yourself some nice pictures done'

Conveniently, the speaker then says she's got a photographer friend who will work on the cheap.

Annie65 · 18/01/2016 11:19

Well said patsy, what you said about some of the people who get sucked in already think highly of themselves rings true. My Sil who is now well and truely sucked into Fl has always thought of herself as one step above the rest of the family, but now she is getting so far up her own arse its really getting to me. I have now decided to keep away from her as much as I possibly can before a big row happens and splits the family.

cleanandclothed · 18/01/2016 11:30

Can someone link this thread to the one recently started in Chat about 'should I do Forever Living'? Cant link as am onehanded feeding DS atm.

Patzy85 · 18/01/2016 11:36

Snap Annie, I have a family member who is currently so far up her backside it's embarrassing! She actually tried to recruit someone who was serving me in clintons cards the other day. I was speechless!
What I find most amusing is that she has went from making very little effort when it comes to her appearance to wearing so much make up that she should really be selling snazeroo face paints.

I bought something, stupidly, out of sympathy and after a series of scripted essays just to get her off my back and honestly it's a joke. Harrods prices for bog standard stuff in ugly packaging.

Eyespying - How can they claim to help people, who do they really think that they are helping?! If they want to help people they could suggest other products from high street places that would cost them faaaaaar less. Desperate, greedy and fickle.

ihateforeverlivingwithapassion · 18/01/2016 11:38

Hi guys me Internet has been playing up a bit but i just had to show you this... It was from about a week ago before i deleted me FLbot... Patzy85 · 18/01/2016 12:19

I have eyespying, I think you have done a great job of highlighting the dangers and entrapment, not to mention the cult-style brainwashing that these drones endure.

I have to stay, although it's cringeworthy it's also riveting watching these bots push the lifestyles. They fascinate me. Not a humble bone in their body, nor an ounce of shame. My friends and I enjoy having a giggle at the inspirational crap they post. I think it works best for lonely people who want a new direction, or they really don't care what their friends or family think of them!

I know people who sell Avon and Body Shop stuff but they don't behave anything like those doing Forever Living. Younique is another one, although still no where near as bad. I work in business and marketing, the business model must be close to crumbling because it's becoming increasingly saturated. Everyone knows someone, yet I don't know many who use the products (unless they're actually selling them) and why would you build completion anyways. However I have read that the momentum of FL is slowing down. Possibly thanks to threads like this!

Quinoa20 · 18/01/2016 12:35

Patzy you should so join the Facebook group hunni !

Patzy85 · 18/01/2016 12:47

I would love to Quinoa but if a family member notices (and she would) I'll be jealous hater! Hmm

I love the Timeless Vie page, it's such a giggle!

Quinoa20 · 18/01/2016 12:52

It's a secret group so it wouldn't show on your feed :) pm the OP of this thread with your email for an invite.

Saw my 'original FL bot' (ie the first one of my colleagues who got into FL and then recruited a vast swath of fellow colleagues) yesterday at work.
Just returned from Mat Leave. Complaining about the job ( the 'real' job). Asked if she could give it up and concentrate on her 'business'. She seemed quite insistent that she could but needed the 'real' job as she was hoping to get a mortgage soon and would obviously need the Banks to see that she has a 'real' job (and isnt a delusional financial risk)

Other nurse in the office (who I had not spoken to about FL) was listening as piped up "oh for gods sake can you tell your lot to stop sending me begging messages on FB to 'work' with them- its becoming tedious".

I was Grin

FL bot said she is making good money but admitted she was putting every hour into it.

Tiredemma · 18/01/2016 13:06

AND I have just had pictues on my feed of peeps at 'mindset mastery' yesterday. lol.

Patzy85 · 18/01/2016 13:16

Translation: I love flicking between inspiring power points in my PJs. Sometimes I play solitaire and think about drawing my eyebrows on too. It's not all work. I do this because #freedom.
