It's just so far from reality, though. I actually do run my own business, I set my own hours, I work from home (which means I regularly have to go into our office in order to get any blardy work done). But I certainly don't 'do phone calls when I want to' - not sure my customers would appreciate me saying 'sorry, I can't be arsed speaking to you now, I'll call you back when I want to'. Obviously likewise meetings. Meetings in the real world have to fit around everyone's schedules.
Unlike the bots I also pay my taxes and in fact work part-time at the moment, partly the nature of this contract and partly because it suits me to. I have enough in the bank to not work until April 2016. (Of course the downside is I have no idea where my next pay cheque will come from once my current contract ends). Amazingly I don't feel the need to recruit everyone I know on Facebook - because there is a limited amount of work and I want it for myself! I haven't had a free holiday to Mexico but the firm I'm working through did pay for me to go to Gloucester a few months ago
(they even sprang for a sarnie in M&S).
But in what way is this bot in a managerial role? How can there be managerial roles when they all run individual businesses? Is she doing appraisals, dealing with HR issues, potentially firing people? No. Given everyone can do as little or as much as they want she also isn't setting objectives or managing performance.
The numbers just don't add up and no amount of wishing will make it so.
